IPOD cannot Sync with ICal.

I have a problem synchronizing my "iCal" with my ipod.
I click "synchronize" all calendars. But none of the items were imported into my iPod.
I use my home desktop (iMac). It transfered well.
Anyone knew what might go wrong?

  • IPod cannot sync with iTunes

Hello everyone. I have a small problem with my brothers iPod. It cannot sync with iTunes, but mine can sync perfectly. We have the same iPod (Nano, 2GB) but his is black, and mine is white. When the iPod is plugged in, iTunes freezes for a minute or two and then keeps going. When songs are being updates, it freezes, and sometimes says that the source cannot by written to or read from, Any help?

Oh and note that sometimes iTunes thinks its a White iPod but really is Black.
    Help!

  • Video ipod not syncing with ical and address book

In iTunes preferences, under the tab for both calendar and contacts, when I attempt to check the "synchronize Address Book contacts", I get a window that says: No Contacts Available contact syncing cannot be enabled because there are no contacts available. Do you want to open Address Book and create contacts now? If I choose open address book, it opens my address book which has 564 contacts in it. The same thing is happening with ical.

Weel, I finally discovered what the problem was. It seems to have occurred a mistake while syncing two computers with .mac. Apparently, instead of reinitializing all informations from one of them, they were simply erased and, while on one of the computers my calendars did appear (the one I was syncing the iPod, too), they were a sort of 'ghost' images. So I had to reinitialize again, and then tried to sync the iPod. Now the calendars are displayed correctly on both, and the sync preferences on iTunes are correct, too. Hope this can help somebody.

  • Ipod touch Why won't my 2nd gen ipod touch sync with ical

Rather recently my ipod touch (2nd gen) won't sync with the ical.  The only information that shows up is birthdays.  None of my appointments past or future are syncing.  What is happening?
I have tried to 1. select individual calendars and 2. tried to select "all" and even 3. tried the one time replace all calendar options.  No go.  I can't get events to show up other than birthdays.
I only sync with the USB port to my macbook pro
    Very strange.

In fact I had only the birthday calendar turned on.  I was unaware that could be done.  Now that I have all showing it works just fine.  Thanks!

  • IPod cannot sync with external drive

I had to transfer my iTunes music folder to an external drive as I was running out of space on my laptop. I'm also using my desktop now instead of my laptop. However, it is now only updating a few songs and I don't know where they're from as I moved all the files to my external drive.
I've configured the iPod to update from the external drive but it cannot recognise it. Do I need to reset my iPod before I can sync up to my external drive?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
All media content will be erased during the first sync, but you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

I cannot get my ipod to sync with iTune.

    Hello megansmummy,
I would be concerned too if my iPod wasn't able to complete the syncing processes. I recommend following the steps in this tutorial to address and issue like this:

  • IPod Cannot Communicate with iTunes

I have been using my ipod/itunes for a while now, but yesterday when I connected my ipod (5th gen Video) to my computer itunes gave me the following error message:
"The software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software"
Well, I did this it didnt work, same error. So I decided to delete all itunes/ipod software from my computer and reinstalled itunes from my initial cd. Plugged in my ipod, same error. I have gone through the 5 R's those didnt work. My iTunes opens and my library is there but I cannot sync with iPod because they cannot communicate so I cannot add any new music to my ipod. Any suggestions?

    okay.
sometimes in earlier versions of itunes (itunes 6.0.x), that message could be caused by a snarlup in the registry keys on the PC. (plausibly in this case something like that might be related to the problem with the administrator account.)
in the 6.0.x days we could get some relief from that sometimes by applying the markinmadison technique:
markinmadison: Re: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed..."
(in your case, rather than reinstalling itunes and the ipod updater, you'd just be reinstalling itunes. the ipod updater is no longer a standalone application ... itunes 7.0.x itself is used for updates and installs.)

  • Events created on my iPhone 5 calendar are no longer syncing with iCal.

Events created on my iPhone 5 calendar are no longer syncing with iCal on my Macbook Pro (Lion OSX). It works fine the other way around.
I can't understand why, and cannot find a solution. Please help!

You can no longer sync via iTunes. That method of sync was removed (and the 1000+ post thread is arguments over things tangientally related to that).
You need to sync via other means than iTunes, then.
One option is to use iCloud. If you sign into iCloud on all your devices, and then make sure your calendars are in the "iCloud" section on your devices, they should sync.
If you don't want to use iCloud, you could use Google calendars, they operate much the same way (but may be less reliable).
Or if you use Exchange for work, you could sync that way.
Or if none of those are acceptable, you could install OS X Server and set up the calendar server on your local network and use it to sync. This is fairly straightforward "for setting up a UNIX calendar server" but it's not trivial and beyond the scope of a forum post to explain it all

  • IPod cannot sync, error -48

Lately I've been getting errors saying iPod cannot sync, error -48. However, it seems to sync fine. What's going on?

I have started to get these errors as well?
First time I used Restore which seemed to fix it until the next time I tried to sync having added several CD's worth of music when I got the -48 error. This time I also got an error reporting it was unable to sync as another programme was using the iPod?
Anyway this time I zapped the iPod with Disc Utility and restored it again, so far so good. But I expect it will need an iPod software update to fix it for good in the end. Lets hope Apple post one out soon.

  • IPhone Calendar Changes not Syncing with ICal

Additions and changes to my iPhone calendar are not synced with ICal on my Mac. Syncing the other direction (adding or changing appointments on my Mac) works, but nothing I change or add on my iPhone appears on my Mac (the same seems to be true of contacts and notes). I have the same problem with an iPod touch.
Has anyone else experienced (and fixed) a similar problem? As it ism the iPhone-Mac sync only works in one direction!

I had the same problem, and then all my calendars stopped syncing either way. They picked a beautiful time to do it, too... right as I was leaving on a business/pleasure vacation where I was making on the fly appointments. grumble
However, I fixed it tonight. Here is what I did.
    1. Back up (export) all your iCal calendars. (not just good practice, you'll need them later) Make sure iCal is closed.
    2. under ~/Library/Application Support/iCal delete everything.
    3. under ~/Library/Calendars delete everything
    4. Sync your phone.
At this point you should have your phone overwriting everything in iCal. If your problem is ONLY syncing from phone to iCal you should be good to go, if you can't sync either way, you'll need to:
    5. Drag all your backed up calendars back to iCal. In theory they will sort themselves out, but you might have some duplicates between stuff you've created on your phone and in iCal.
I don't know if this will keep the problem from occurring again, but at the very least, I was able to test out my ability to create events on either side, and it works.
I kept hoping that the last iPhone update would solve this for me, alas!

    Hello Marcia,
Sorry you are having trouble syncing content with your iPhone 5. I found an article that might help with this syncing issue:
iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3219
Also, you can delete the songs from the iPhone without syncing by just swiping from left to right over the song to get a delete button.
    I hope this helps!
    Best,
    Sheila M.
