Ipod & canon eos 300D

Can I transfer photo's from my canon eos 300D to an Ipod using the camera adaptor?

Inge I am trying to figure out the same thing. It is the reason I bought this iPod so I wouldn't have to travel overseas with my PowerBook.
It says it supports "Type4" protocols which the 300D is, but I want to be assured it will work before I order. I asked about this when I purchased the Belkin Camera transfer which did not work and someone suggested the IPod adaptor.
I am also concerned that is says to attach the adapter to your iPod dock, does that mean the USB connection or do you need to have a docking accessory too, the one the iPod can stand up in and charge?

    Hey folks,
I don't have a problem with this combination but just want to say, that it's working perfectly together! I've searched for a thread like this before but didn't found any, so I took my currage and bought the Camera Connector without being sure it will work with my Canon EOS 300d. Today I tested it and it works perfect from the first moment. Just plug into the iPod and the camera and it prompts directly the import screen on the iPod. Importing itself also works good, but due to the USB 1.1 port on the camera it's a little slow. There are time measurements on other threads dealing with the connector, but for me the time is secondary, aslong as I don't have to carry my PowerBook around to get the fotos from my camera. BTW: That's not faster!
So for all of you out there using a Canon EOS 300d don't hesitate to get the Camera Connector - with the latest firm- and software on your devices there should be no problem!

Is it possible to connect a Canon EOS 300D via iPod
camera connector to a 5th generation iPod?
The EOS 300D isn't listed in the compatibility list,
but i'm sure the camera supports the protocols.
    Any experiences?

  • Photos from Canon EOS 300d crash iPhoto'11?

    Hi everybody,
I need help with iPhoto: iPhoto closes when working with photos or after import of photos (jpg AND crw) taken by Canon EOS 300d. No probs with other cameras (panasonic, iphone, Canon 450d, ...). Error occurs after installing the last raw update 3.8. Before everything worked fine (pics from 2003 on)!
    Nothing helps:
    - new library
    - new library with new user
    - deleting iphoto and reinstalling
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and greetings,
    Thorsten
edit: pictures are on HDD (local / NAS).

I suppose is NOT cameraraw 3.8 but something in Faces/iPhoto.
Did you already backup the Library?
I am not a specialist in iPhoto, so we wait for a specialist coming in.
    Second rate advice from me:
    reinstall iPhoto,
download a program to recover a corrupted Libray and run it, there is something in another thread about this- this last week).

  • IPhoto import problems from Canon EOS 300D.

iPhoto recognises the camera, says it is 'loading' but just hangs there. Tried all trouble shooting tips. My pocket Canon IXUS camera works fine (iMac running Yosemite latest version of iPhoto).

Hi Keith, I had the same problem with my Canon 300D on iPhoto/iMac/Yosemite. What worked for me was changing the setting on my camera, menu-tools2, communication: normal -> PTP. This was a trick I found on a MS Windows forum (win7/win8 support). Hope this works for you as well! (you might need to wait a bit if you have a lot of pictures, the flashing red led will promise success )

  • Aperture and EXIF information with EOS 300D RAW (.CRW) files

When I look at the EXIF metadata in Aperture, it shows some things completely wrong:
Shutter speeds over 1 second are shown as 1.0 seconds
The Serial number of the camera is totally wrong
    There is no Exposure compensation
the Color Space is wrong (I use sRGB wich Aperture reports as Adobe RGB)
There are 8 pixels missing (see another thread)
There is no information about flash usage
Does anyone else have similar problems?

I HAVE A CANON DIGITAL REBEL EOS 300D CAMERA. THE CF CARD WAS PUT IN THE CARD SLOT INCORRECTLY AND THE CARD SLOT WAS DAMANAGED. CAN THIS BE REPAIRED. AND HOW MUCH.

    Hi Ronald,
I'm sorry to hear that the pins in the memory card compartment of your Digital Rebel have been bent.
Because the service life for this camera has expired, Canon no longer offers service for it.  I'm sorry for the difficulty this causes.

You'll need an iPod compatable media reader, here's some search results that should help.

  • IPOD Camera Connector download from Canon EOS 20D

Having problems tranferring from Canon EOS 20D. Although Apple say it is compatable all I get is Unsupported device. Any Idea's...

    No worries Paul & Sam,
Unplug everthing, soft reset your iPod, connect the camera connector to your card reader and put your card in the reader before you plug it in the iPod, then connect it, let the iPod find everything and then import photo's if this doesn't work try this below:
The Belkin Reader i've got has this model number. F5U249ea if you've got the same one, it's powered off the iPod, the 60gb model should be no different. Have you got the latest iPod update installed. If you have all i can say make sure everything on your iPod is still on your computer, completely restore your iPod with the latest iPod update, then connect everything together again, if this still does'nt work, i'm not sure what you can do? i'll try and find some more info for you but try everything i've said first and i'm sure you'll get everything to work fine.
Let me know how you get on, i'll try and figure out what happened

  • Ipod Camera Connector Canon Eos 30d

    Hello,
has anyone successfully connected Canon EOS 30d with the Camera Connector? My ipod does not recognize it, although cameras that use PTP protocol should be supported. And a Mac computer can get the pictures from the camera using PTP protocol just fine.

  • .mov files from  - Canon EOS 5D Mark ll  -  iPod Nano

I am looking at purchasing both these items with their promise to

I am wondering whether anyone can confirm that is a 1-step transfer

Let's get into a little more detail.
The moniker ".mov" doesn't really mean much. It means "a movie that QT can play back" - a very generic statement. Saying that a movie is a QuickTime movie is saying nothing of the underlying codec. You might have a hundred movie files with the ending ".mov" and they could all be using different codecs like: Motion Jpeg, DV, XDCam, DVCPro, DVCPro HD, H.264 and so on.... So to answer the question, "...Does the fact that it is already an .mov file make it more of a drag and drop thing?" The answer is, No. Here's why:
The 5D (and 7D) shoot a ".mov" file, yes. But specifically it's of the H.264 flavor. This is a burdensome codec. It's processor intensive. It's not meant for editing, it's meant for delivery. Furthermore, if there are going to be advances with it's native editability it's going to happen at the happen on hardware and software that are of the most current standards. And besides, that's still a big if.
There are no current machines that have true drag-drop-edit (without pain) the raw Canon .mov files. If you're thinking your current computer can't handle "hi-def footage" then it most certainly won't handle the (HD) camera native files. That doesn't mean you can't edit the footage. You'll just be back to what's been mentioned before: transcoding. You can always transcode to the highest quality codec that your Mac can handle and edit in that format. DVCPro HD? DV, at least! Don't know - whatever your machine can handle.
Summary: Native 5D camera files ---> FCP = painful, even with newest hardware/software. Rule is transcode. This is the only way people are efficiently working with this footage right now.
Footage Quality - it's quite nice! There's tons of video all over Vimeo with it now. It's a great concept that will only get better. Snoop around here too. There are tons of sample footage on the web. It is highly compressed though. All that info, and with tiny files, the information is going someplace! Being discarded. Learning to maximize an environment's given conditions will lead to minimizing the camera's inherent artifacts.
The next question to ask yourself is do you want this camera mostly for the HD movie mode or photography? The new 7D has some compromises compared to the 5D but has some things that the 5D doesn't, yet. Like framerates. The 5D is, for now, strictly 30P, while the 7D sports 24P, 25P 30P and 50P & 60P at 720P (instead of the full 1920x1200).
Hopefully that answers some questions regarding FCP dealing with the native camera files. Other than that: 5D or 7D? Both have some worthwhile merits to consider.

  • Canon Eos-1d

I have a Canon Eos-1d and a Mark II. They have a firewire connection. Does anyone know if they can be connected to the firewire cord and plugged into the iPod? Is there any way I can get my photos, including raw off of the camera and onto the iPod?

I went through the same drill - came down to $3300 extra for 14 vs 6 fps.  I bought the 5DIII.

  • I pod doesnt' work with the camera connector and Canon EOS 20D!

    iPod Camera Connector: Supported Devices
The iPod Camera Connector requires a Fifth Generation iPod, iPod photo (also known as iPod with color display) and a supported camera or media reader. Other iPods, including iPod mini, iPod nano, iPod (Click Wheel), and iPod shuffle, are not supported with the iPod Camera Connector.
The iPod Camera Connector supports cameras with USB connectivity based on the following commonly used protocols:
    PTP
    Type 4 (or Normal)
    Mass Storage
For the complete list of supported cameras and media readers, see this webpage.
If you're using Mac OS X 10.3.x, you can use Image Capture to quickly verify what protocol your camera supports. To do this:
    Connect your camera.
    Open Image Capture.
Click Options and then click Device Options.
You can also check your camera's owner manual or the vendor's website to find out what protocols your camera supports. Also see "iPod Camera Connector: Choosing a photo importing protocol on a camera" for additional information.
