IPod Car Stereo Connection

I just recently bought an aftermarket Kenwood, iPod compatable stereo for my car. When I plug in the iPod to the stereo (it has the modulator {direct connection, not FM}), all it plays is the first song on my list. I can't go from one album to the next. Did I set up my iPod wrong, or is it something else? Please help...thank you!!!

I just spoke to Apple tech support. The techie said that they changed the pin configuration and that he did not know of any workaround for in-car charging. He also said that the 4th gen Nano (out of the box) and the 3rd gen Nano (after the latest software update) will no longer go into standby mode when connected to non-apple interfaces. He also said that they are working on it and the standby mode should work again after the next software update.

Car stereo connect to Iphone?

Hello, my car stereo is designed for Ipod, it can be directly plugged into the car stereo system and play whatever songs it contain. Now that I've ordered myself an Iphone I were wondering if anyone here know if it will be possible to plug an Iphone into that stereo? Does it have the same kind of plug? and should by stereo be able to detect the music that is saved on it?

In short, I want my phone to connect to my car audio when I'm driving rather than my Apple watch.

Assuming that the Apple Watch and the car system use different BT profiles, it shouldn't be a problem to have the phone connected to both.

Ios 4.2.1 won't connect to 'made for iPod' car stereo

I wish I'd NOT updated from ios 3.1.3. Then I could listen to music on my iPod (touch, 2nd gen, 8gb) in my car via the car stereo (Kenwood KDC-W6541U) USB port with not problems.
Ever since I updated to ios 4.0 (and 4.1 which didn't solve the problem either) whenever I plug my iPod the car stereo display flashes 'reading'. I've checked the Kenwood website, but there are no updates for the stereo.
I'd hoped the 4.2.1 update would've resolve the problem, but it didn't. The main reason I'd bought an iPod was to listen music in the car!
Recently I've not bought anything from iTunes, whats the point as I can't listen to it.
I'm getting disillusioned. I've tried plugging/unplugging, switching on/off, resetting, etc, etc with no success. Anyone got any ideas?

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. i have a kenwood kvt-514 head unit. once i updated my ipod touch to v4.2.1 some songs didn't play, no album artwork was displayed, ect. i tried doing all of the above and nothing. hopefully apple is working this out.

Home stereo and car stereo connection

What are the EASISEST and BEST ways of connecting my iPod to both my home stereo and car stereo. I have done a search already and see that a connector with red and white ends will work with the home stereo. However I already have several items plugged into my stereo already. Also it is kind of difficult to reach the audio inputs on the back of my stereo. Can I just use the headphone input to get quality sound? Will this also work on my car stereo (which has an auxillary input)? I have seen that many recommend a dock, but the ones I have looked up are kind of pricy. Is it REALLY necessary? Thanks in advance.

I just got an Fifth gen video iPod , and part of the gift was a plug in the cigarette lighter power adapter to power the iPod and transmit a signal to the car radio on several select frequencies (about eight different RF settings)..
It was a gift...but I hear the transmitter would cost about a $100...
Works quite well...now - if only my car stereo speakers were only as good as the speakers on my gateway PC...(sigh).

IPod car stereo Interface problem

Ever since I downloaded the iPhone software version 3.13, the music plays very poorly or not at all through my car stereo interface. I have a Peripheral Audio Gateway which works fine with our other iPods. What can I do to fix the problem? Is there a way to remove the newest software and go back to the previous version?

Factory ipod/car stereo link - not recognized

i have a new mini cooper and got the factory ipod sync for the car stereo (same one as bmw, they make mini's). hooked my new 60gb video ipod up and was happy as a clam using it. until last week. when it suddenly stopped recognizing my ipod. took my car in for service and the sync works fine on everyone's ipod in the shop, except mine of course. ipod strangely works fine in all other ways including syncing with my mac mini. of course did all the resets and restores. and no i didn't change anything or download a new ipod updater when it stopped. and yes it is up to date. bringing it in to an apple store this week, will let you all know. but from phone calls they sound as mystified as i am. anyone else have similar?

IPod nano car stereo connectors

Does anyone know if any of the various third party car stereo connection kits are compatible with the iPod nano? They advertise that you can control iPods and iPod minis directly from the stereo controls, but they don't mention the nanos. Is the interface for controlling the nanos through the dock connector the same as that of the iPods and minis?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean to ask if the iPod nano and the iPod mini use the same type of connector? Then, yes, they do use the same type of connector.
However, there are a couple of differences between the two iPod models. For example, if you have a FireWire cable connected to your dock or an iPod cable with a FireWire connection, you will only be able to charge your iPod nano. The iPod nano requires a USB connection to sync songs or pictures.

My iphone 4 doesn't charge when pluged in to my car stereo

My iphone 4 will not charge when plugged into my car stereo. has the hard wire for it. It worked with my ipod but not the iphone, it say acc. not optimized?

Which iPod model?
Some iPod models can be charged via firewire in addition to being charged via USB. If the car stereo connection charges via firwire, it won't work with the iPhone. And if the car stereo does not include the "made for iPhone" certifcation, it may work but it isn't optimized or fully compatible or not compatible at all with an iPhone. Being compatible with an iPod does not automatically equate to being compatible with an iPhone.

Iphone 4 will not charge anymore from the car stereo

Ever since I have updated to iOS5 my IPhone 4 will not charge via the car stereo connection. It worked fine before this but now no charge. I am using a scosche adaptor that was recommended by the nice people in my local Apple store but the IPhone has stopped charging.
I use my IPhone a lot as a sat-nav and find that when I get to my destination there is little or no power left in the battery.
Any ideas?

Check the bottom of the iPhone and make sure there is no lint or debris on the connector that the power/sync cord attaches to. Also with a very low battery, you may have to let the iPhone charge several minutes before you get any indications. If none of the above solves the problem, try another cable. You might also want to try a car charger if you've got one.

My car stereo works intermittently with iOS 7

Since upgrading to iOS 7 on my iPhone 5, my car stereo now says "USB ERROR" every time I connect my iPhone. To workaround this issue, I have to be playing some music on the iPhone before connecting it to avoid the error message and for the stereo to play music from device.
My car stereo is the Sony CDX-GT560UI. Is this a problem with the car stereo or iOS 7?

Bluetooth not working with my Sony car stereo

Now that I have upgraded from my Iphone 4 to the Iphone 5. My Sony DX300BTX Bluetooth car stereo will not connect. I had a oppiontment this last Friday with the apple store. They were able to connect with there Blue tooth keyboard. The tech said he could not find any problems with the phone hardware and would not replace it. The tech sudjusted that I restore the phone as a new phone. I did this. Then attempted to connect with my car stereo. The car stereo connected to the Iphone 5 but the Iphone 5 would not connect to the car stereo. Btw the Iphone 5 has the latest 6.01 o.s And so dose my Iphone 4. Today I took it out to my car to see if it would still connect with the car stereo now that it has the latast 6.01 o.s. Connected and played Itunes and Pandora perfectly.
So it appears that the Iphone 5 bluetooth chip is the problem. It's not a software issue and it's not a issue with my sony stereo because the car stereo connected. But the Iphone 5 would not. My question is how do I get Apple to fix there faulty bluetooth chip. I just bought this car stereo last year. It was suppose to have the best bluetooth connectivity. And it did with my Iphone 4. I know if Steve Jobs was still with us this Iphone 5 would have not been released until these kind of bugs were fixed. And just for the record my sony laptop can see the Iphone 5 to but the Iphone 5 can not see the sony. Dose Apple make a car stereo that connect to there Iphone 5

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset the BT device
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
