IPod causes car stereo to turn off
I have been using my iPod classic with a tape adapter in my car and have had a recurring issue. When I use my iPod and a tape adapter, my stereo turns off and goes into "safe" mode when turned back on. I have found the problem to occur with 2 different tape adapters. I have also used an iRiver T10 mp3 player with no problems. AM and FM and CD (changer) are all working fine. Strangely, the issue happens when I pick up the iPod after it has been sitting motionless in the center console and in use.
Car is 2001 VW Jetta Wagon with single DIN factory stereo.
Anyone got any ideas?
Consider acquiring a belkin adapter that lets you tune your car radio to an unused channel in your area.
It is essentially a very low power transmitter (about the size of a usb memory stick) which connects to the headphone jack. Set the channel on the transmitter, tune the car radio to the same channel. Push play.
There are 2 types of these transmitters - on that is switch selectable for 4 different channels, and a digital one that can go anywhere on the dial.
I prefer the latter, as the formers 4 fixed channels have bleed in my geographic area.
Runs on a single AAA battery - which, surprisingly, Belkin provides in the package.
Last I checked, the switched one as 29, the digital, 39.

I do that:
-turn off iPod;

But the ipod autmatically turn on...than charge!

Regards.What you are describing is normal. I can turnoff my 4G after charging has begun.

iPod nano version 6: random turn off, volume controls don't work, does not turn off, skip does not work. Two years old! Next version of nano has no clip and same amount of storage. I do not want to give up my version 6!
Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and pay $75 USD for an out-of-warranty replacement.

I am going on a summer vacation to California via mini van. I want to purchase an ipod ready car stereo so the kids can play all their music and mine on this long road trip. Some have aux input, some usb connection, and others an adapter that you buy along with the stereo. Anyone have one of these that can give me their experience? Thanks.
GilbertCheck the link below. They may have an adaptor for your existing factory radio. The advantage of this is that it will likely be cheaper then a brand new head unit and with this, you can have the iPod charge while playing. I installed this recently in my car and I'm very happy with it.

IPod distorted into iPod-ready Car Stereo
I just had a Sony CDX-GT420IP installed, and it sounds fine with the radio or CD, but when I connect the iPod (NOT via audio AUX, but rather a direct connection,as would to the Mac), the audio is really hot & distorted. I have to turn the EQ off, just to get it anywhere near in range, but it's still too hot.
After going thru the Sony manual, I can't see any way to turn the overall volume from the iPod down over that direct connection. Is there a way to do this? I tried turning the "headphone" volume down, but it didn't seem to have any effect.
Thanks for any tips!As the iPod is connected with the car stereo via the docking, you can't change the iPod volume by its click wheels.
You can try either:-
1. switch the soundcheck on with your iPod
2. Re adjust your iTunes library and do the sync with your iPod again

Playing iPod through car stereo
Hi,
It plays just fine except it won't shuffle songs, and the battery drains when the car is off. The iPod needs to be ejected when the battery is down, the car started and the iPod reconnected for it to work (except it still won't shuffle).

MarifranIt sounds like the car stereo to me. Try getting one of those wireless transmiteras for the radio and see it if is still doing the volume jumps. If not then it is your stereo and if so them it is the iPod.

IPod Nano 5G Backlight Never Turns Off!

A few days ago, my ipod started turning off by itself. Now, I can't get it to turn on at all.I pluged it into Itunes, and it says it needs to restore my ipod. The only problem is, it will delete everything. I had my ipod backed up a while ago, but I am afraid some of my pictures and new apps will be deleted forever. It won't let me back it up or do anything to it except restore it. Also, it keeps saying there isn't enough storage in icloud. PLEASE HELP!!!

My iPod Touch will not completely turn off or connect to iTunes
I disconnected my iPod and did what you are supposed to do to turn it off. The little thing that circles round and round before it turns off all the way will not stop. It won't turn off no matter what I do. iTunes says it cannot connect to my iPhone (it is an iPod Touch) and that there is some kind of error. I went through all of the troubleshooter steps including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. What should I do? Will it fix itself when the battery finally dies?

Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont turn off
my ipod shuffle wont turn off! it is 2nd gen i think it is silver with clip on on the back. when i pause it it will pause but when i turn switch to off green light still flashing and will still play if press play button any ideas? or do i buy another one . it is about 9 months old.
thanks for your reply. in the end i took it to an apple service centre and coz it only 8months old got it replaced for free in two days, seeing as im in darwin i was quite impressed!!. i agree it is made cheap but i use it for the gym and no other portable music player is equipped with the clip on the back which is the most simple design feature and no-one is catching on. have seen the new one , which looks brilliant, if my replacement craps itself after its 1 year warranty then i will just get the new one. thanks again for the reply.

My iPod touch will not stay on after I take it off the charger. When its on the charger it says it is completely charged. I can do everything on my iPod when its on the charger but as soon as I take it off the charger it turns off. Both the ipad and iphone are intended to sync to a computer.
You can redownload apps from the app store, assuming that they are iphone compatible.
