IPod charge dock with iPhone 4S?

Will an iPod charge dock work with the iPhone 4S?

apart from the size then if it's an very old ipod charger and it use the firewire pins not included in the pin30 connector anymore it would not work

  • Will any iPod charger work with iPhone

Does any (Apple) iPod charger work with iPhone? I would like to charge the phone in different places without carrying the wall charger with me all the time. I got my regular iPod charger and was hoping that I can use it. I noticed that the wall charger that comes with the phone has a lower amp rating than the iPod charger I have. I would think this shouldn't make a difference unless everything else (e.g., the connector wiring) is the same.
    Does anyone know for sure?
    Thanks

I believe so. Check this link http://www.apple.com/iphone/questionsandanswers.html scroll to the section Accessories for iPhone and read the first one.
I'd imagine if there was a problem they would have mentioned it. Also, if it makes you feel any better, I've been using iPod charger to charge my phone and so far it's been working fine.

  • IPod video dock with iPhone 3GS

    Hi guys,
New iPhone user and OMG what have i been missing!! Loving it. Quick question, I am using the iPhone in my iPod dock and I get a message on my iPhone "Not supported Blah Blah" but the phone is charging and I can transfer, make calls etc. Is it ok for me to contiue using it or should I get the proper iPhone dock? How long does it take for the iPhone to charge fully from empty?
    Thanks

if its charging it you can use it...
apple has a standard for connectors, docks, etc that lets the connection tell the iphone/touch what it can and can't do.
if you havent noticed yet iphones use GSM technology for the phone to work... GSM has a habit of introducing radio frequency interference (RFI) that is just at the perfect wavelength to cause speakers to chirp...
usually when you get the warning about not designed for iphone it is because the company who designed the product (dock, clock radio, stereo, etc) has not designed it to shield itself from that RFI.. which will cause annoying chirps on the speakers or the stereo etc... the message usually offers to put the phone into airplane mode which will also stop RFI from happening (since the phone function will be off).
if you don't mind your phone laying on the table just use the usb cable that came with it!

  • Using ipod charge adapter with an iphone?

I was wondering if the ipod charge cable is compatiable with my iphone and vice versa? The man at att said no. What can someone else tell me about this question?

The chargers and cables for all iPods that use a USB dock cable are compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The only incompatible chargers/cables are the older FireWire based ones. Note that some car chargers for iPods actually use the FireWire pins in the dock connector for power, and thus do not work with the iPhone 3G or 3GS. It won't hurt to try, you'll just get a message on the phone that 'charging is not supported with this accessory'.

  • IPod Connector Cord with iPhone 3G

Hi, I have an Video iPod 5G and want to know if I can use the USB to iPod dock connector cord that came with it with the iPhone 3G
    Thanks

Yes, it should work. I also am using my iPod 5G cable with my new iPhone and it syncs and charges just fine with both my computers (iMac and MBP). I keep the cable that came with the iPhone plugged into the AC adapter to charge it elsewhere.

  • Can I use my old iPod 3G dock with my new iPod Touch

I just got an iPod Touch, and I am wondering if there are any reason why I shouldn't use it with the old dock that came with my iPod 3G in 2004. It seems to sync and charge without any problem, but I'm wondering if it could cause physical damage because it's not designed to support that shape, or if there's any other potential issues. The iPod Touch came with an adapter, but it doesn't fit my ancient dock.

I do not understand why a 2G Touch would not charge from an AC connector. I am charging mine with the AC connector which came with my iPod Photo. That may have been the last iPod to include the charger with the device. But yes, it charges the Touch just fine. However, my Bose dock does not work with the Touch at all. I understand that it would not be able to charge it, but I can't even play through it. Two other docks I have are the same EXCEPT that both of them have an auxilliary input and I can play the Touch through a cord going into that input, lying down of course, not in its dock.

  • IPod mini dock with nano issue

After seeing a few people use their iPod mini dock successfully with the Nano, I thought I would try it on mine. It works just fine, except for the fact that after leaving the nano in the dock for a day or so I noticed that it became loose and I had to push it down again on the connector.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably just because while the connector is the same the molding is sized for the Mini not the Nano so it's not surprising it might come loose.

  • IPod sound dock with radio microphone receiver?

My wife is an aerobics instructor and uses a headset radio microphone through her amplifier so her voice can be heard over the music.
She now wants to move away from cassettes and CDs for her music and wishes to load all her daily play lists onto an iPod for greater flexibility.
Does anyone know of a karaoke type iPod sound dock speaker system with a built-in radio microphone receiver so her voice can still be heard over the music?

i don't know if this has been brought up before but anyways on the topics of docks...i am getting the bose dock for christmas. but i wish someone would make a cable that would connect your ipod to your dock because i am almost positive that i will need to take my ipod out of its case to put it in the dock. i believe that if i am willing to fork out 300 dollars for an ipod and another 300 for a sound dock that i shouldn't have to take the case off of my ipod to listen to it.

  • Weird charging indication with iPhone 5 and iOS 7.0.2

Sometime shortly after updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.0.2 the beep sound changed when inserting the charger cable. The phone charges fine, but now there is a long delay (blank screen for ~5 sec) followed by 2 beeps after plugging in the lightning cable. Previously, there was no delay and only 1 beep with iOS 7 & iOS 7.0.1. I'm using the original lightning cable plugged into the original iPhone 5 charger. I haven't seen any other posts about this issue, but I am concerned that the situation might degrade to a charging problem. Any ideas or confirmation of the issue?

According to Apple, the iPod Classic IS supposed to work with the Universal Dock w/S-video outpupt.
It's not working for me, either. 160GB Classic.

  • Using iPod radio attachment with iPhone 3G

I can't - very disappointed (along with many other issues I've had). Can somebody maybe build an app for this ?!

Even though the connectors might be the same, they probably charge differently and use different levels of voltages. You can try it out and see if it will work, it shouldn't damage the device or anything, it will probably say it won't work if anything.
Not true. ALL USB ports and chargers provide 5 volts nominal (actually 4.5 to 5.5). Wall chargers provide 1 amp; computers are only required to provide 0.5 amp, but most newer ones provide 1 amp. The only difference is that 0.5 amp will take twice as long to charge the phone.
Firewire is different; there was a range of voltages that Firewire chargers would provide, so they were not interchangeable. But the iPhone doesn't work at all with Firewire so it's not an issue.

  • Car charger compatability with iphone

will a regular ipod car charger charge the iphone?

I use some Griffin brand car charger, I think, and it works great on the iPod...on the iPhone it is less than par for only one reason...the iPhone doesn't realize it is plugged in but it is still getting charged. It keeps kicking battery life down and down, even to the warnings, but once I unplug it and unlock it, it shows the proper charge. Weird I guess but it still charges it nonetheless.

  • Random "clicking" sound when 16GB iPod touch docked with speakers

    Hi all,
My friend recently got a 16GB iPod touch. It works fine with headphones but whenever she docks it into her speakers or my own a random clicking sound can be heard. It doesn't matter if the thing is actually playing a track or not, so long as it's docked on the speakers the sound is heard. It also happens with the wi-fi switched off.
She recently paid the £12.99 for the update that adds Google maps etc. so I was thinking maybe that would update the firmware and fix the problem but it hasn't. I'm suspecting a fault with her iPod, has anyone else encountered this issue and knows of a fix short of returning it to Apple for a working one?
    Thanks in advance,
    8

Thanks very much, that seems to have fixed it!
Must admit I was a little skeptical but on my speakers (Altec Lansing ones) it's silent when not playing music and no distortions or clicks are audible when it is. On my friend's own speakers (some fairly anonymous brand) there is a little hissing and clicking but I think they do that with my own 1st generation Nano plugged in. She's getting some new Logitech ones, a set for her living room and another for her bedroom so hopefully that's it sorted.
    Cheers again!

  • Menu Button issue with the iPod Universal Dock with Remote

What is the status of a firmware release to address the inability of the Apple Remote to mimic the menu button on the iPod?
Is it even possible to update the firmware to provide this functionality? What is the hold up? I am boycotting further hardware purchases until this is taken care of or Apple accept s a return of my Universal Dock, Remote, Second power brick, Firewire cable, and AV cable.
It is shameful for Apple to have sold these items and not made it clear that the menu button may as well be a sticker.

  • New iPod behaving differently with iPhone headphones

I just had an iPod Touch go bad and had it replaced at an Apple store. I aslo have some "iPohone" headphones that have the answer button. On my first iPod the answer button would work as a pause and play button, but on my newer one it's not doing that....I REALLY liked having this feature. Does anyone know what the difference might be?

I have the same problem with my iPod Touch using Apple headphone. The remote worked well for months, then stop working until now - rendering them pretty useless, mic still work thought...
I tried everything, even restoring the iPod. Nothing worked, this is a iPod OS software glitch that Apple doesn't seem willing to fix anytime soon. As a result, I'm barely using my Touch since it's a pain in the a*s having to take it out of the pocket, unlock, etc., everytime I want to pause or skip track. Stupid move here Apple, FIX THIS ASAP APPLE...
