IPod Class Automatically Disconnecting While Synching

Ok I managed to solve my previous problem and now when while I'm synching my music onto the iPod,it automatically disconnects causing the whole sync to completely stop.Any idea why ?

Hmm. Well, since the problem happens on both computers, the problem more than likely lies with the iPod itself. The iPod's software may have become corrupt in some way and may need to be restore via iTunes. Keep in mind that restoring will erase all the music and files from your iPod so make sure they are backed up on at least one of your computers. However, that is not a guaranteed fix and I don't think you really feel like reloading all 105 GB of music on it.
Maybe try manually putting the iPod into Disk Mode while connected and see if that helps the iPod stay connected and mounted properly.

Other than that, I don't know of any other way to handle this situation and am out of ideas or potential solutions. Maybe try completely uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing. (There is a link right that the beginning of the document if you have Vista)

  • IPOD NANO Automatically Disconnects

I have 3 IPOD's a 40gb 4th gen, a MINI and a NANO. Songs from ITUNES transfer to the older IPOD's Fine but when I try to transfer to the NANO it automatically disconnects.
    I am using:
    ITUNES 7.0.2.16
    IPOD ver 1.1.1
I have Tried Reset and Restore on the NANO and then I can transfer some Songs but then the problem rreturns. I am only trying to download about 18 songs and have even tried to do 1 at a time. Any Suggestions?
IPOD NANO (2nd gen) 8gb   Windows XP Pro   2gbRam

Ok, so I reset it while connecting to the PC. There's such a hassle of using the "Safely Remove Hardware" to 'stop' the iPod. I downloaded the latest iPod updater and reformatted the nano. Apparently there was an update sometime early last month. So I had to reformat, but it still automatically disconnected somewhere around song # 300, and this iPod had nothing else on it. I uploaded songs 50-100 at a time, and it seems to be ok since. Whew!
It seems there's a lot of trial and error on having to restart the computer, reformat the iPod, etc. I also find it helpful to go into SAFE MODE on your Windows XP PC and go into Windows/Temp and delete all these little files that pile up from somewhere. I've never been able to delete them as a logged-in user, so SAFE MODE is the only way to do it.

  • IPod is automatically disconnecting immediately after initially connecting

    iPod Classic with 160GB memory
    currently has about 105GB loaded
While it generally seems to be working well to play music etc, when I open iTunes on my computer and then try to connect the iPod to the computer so that I can add new music etc., it first goes through the normal process of synching but, as soon as that process is complete, it immediately starts the ejecting process all by itself. After the iPod indicates that it is has completed the ejecting process and that it is okay to disconnect, however, the iTunes on the computer still shows the iPod as connected and lists all of the songs, etc., but you cannot play any of them.
This happens on both my home computer and on my office laptop computer this morning. (Both are PC's and both have iTunes set to manually manage my music.)
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • [Work around] iPod Classic automatically disconnects when open itunes (PC Windows Vista)

    I have a:
    iPod Classic 120GB
    HP Pavilion Laptop
    iTunes 10 (latest)
    Windows Vista OS (32-bit)
    THE PROBLEM
I connect my iPod to my laptop with a working usb cable. The computer recognises the iPod as is shows up as a drive in "My Computer". But as soon as I open iTunes program, iTunes recognises the iPod for a few seconds, then automatically disconnects from the program and the computer.
Only after updating my iTunes to 10 have I encountered this problem.
I have tried all the suggestions on the apple forums and others to no avail.
    THE WORK-AROUND
Calling this a work around simply because it is definately not a solution. and developers should really get off their backsides and fix this bug.concerning the problem of iPods (particular the older models) automatically disconnecting.
When connecting the iPod to the computer (NOT IN ITUNES), open the iPod drive through "My Computer", keep that window open as a folder, then proceed to run iTunes. This should allow you to use iPod through iTunes as normal.
NOTE: this is not a superfix and may not work for everyone, but it won't hurt to try. for more drastic but permanant solution, switching to 3rd party software might be for you. I have tried Songbird and had no problems link: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/29716/heres-five-alternatives-to-itunes-10-for-ea sily-managing-your-ipod/
    Hope this helps. Peace

I'll give this a shot, thank you for posting. I don't want to say I'm glad it's a bug but it's better then two brand new ipods in 10 days being crap.

  • Automatically disconnects while transferring songs!!

I have just bought a shuffle and am having major problems. I already have itunes 6 installed and my girlfriend uses her shuffle fine on my computer. Hence the reason that i wanted one too.
When she plugs her shuffle in it updates fine, when mine is plugged in iTunes sees it fine and starts to transfer songs but then suddenly disconnects and starts all over again. Why?
I am worried that this disconnecting while updating is going to cause damage to my shuffle.
We do everything identical how can hers work but mine plays silly buggers!!!

It could be a loose connection. Make sure you keep everything really still while syncing.
Do you get errors from Windows/iTunes when the shuffle disconnects?
If you are using a "front" USB port, you should try a "rear" USB port (you can get extension cables to avoid the need to plug the shuffle into the back of the computer).

  • IPod Classic disconnects while synching

    Hi,
Whilst trying to synch, my iPod initially shows as connected, then quickly switches to Ejecting, and then disconnects.  Basically, there is no chance of the iPod synching fully.
iPod Classic 160Gb using Windows 8
Latest version of iTunes loaded 12.1.1.4
Any hints and tips much appreciated.

  • IPod automatically disconnects itself within 5-10 seconds.

    Hi All,
I've been having some problems connecting my 5th Gen iPod to my new MackBook Pro. The iPod was synced to my old MacBook (I think it was the first black MacBook model) and worked perfectly fine. When I tried connecting it to my Pro for the first time everything went swell until about 500 songs in when the iPod suddenly disconnected (with the error message asking me to eject before disconnecting). I could no longer see it in iTunes and it returned to the state where it's not plugged in and not charging. I reconnected it and tried again and it happened a lot sooner. After trying multiple times, the time it takes for the iPod to automatically disconnect itself is about 5 to 10 seconds.
I've tried multiple cords and have connected the iPod to multiple computers, which leads me to believe that it's a problem with the iPod and not the computer or the cord. I've restarted the computers, restarted the iPod, attempted to restore the iPod (but it doesn't last long enough in the dock for it to work) and played around with the disk mode setting in iTunes. The only thing I have running when I attempt to connect is iTunes. Also, I was able to synced my iPhone to iTunes with no problem at all.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

You get 90 days of free phone support after that there is a charge.
From your description your iPod may have developed a hardware problem and need to be fixed. If you bought it it August it is still under warranty so repair would be covered.
You could try some troubleshooting suggestions.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings to see if that helps.
Turn your iPod off and restart it (press on/off button for 5 seconds or so until power off indicator appears).
Reset your iPod (press on/off button and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears).
If none of this helps you can try doing a restore on your iPod (make sure you have a backup). See iTunes to do this.
    Good luck.

  • IPod automatically disconnecting

Hi, I am trying to update my iPod to my Macbook but every time I plug it in it automatically disconnects.  Any one know this happens?

    Try this:
Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab if you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes see if you also have a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.

  • My iPod won't Disconnect automatically.

My iPod used to automatically disconnect after it updated. I transfered a file from my MacBook, which I manually added to my iPod. The manual update to the iPod on the MacBook requires that I manually disconnect the iPod from the MacBook. Fine. On my main Mac, the iPod should sync when connected and disconnect when finished. When I synced the iPod with my main Mac, it no longer disconnects automatically. Any thoughts?

I'm not quite clear on what you were doing, setting the iPod to manual or enabling it for disk use. Anyway, here's what happens in either situation. Setting your iPod to manual update automatically defaults the "enable disk use" option. Changing it back to auto-sync does not remove it, you have to remove it manually. If on the other hand you simply enabled disk use to move a file then that's why your iPod is not automatically disconnecting. While this option is enabled you have to manually disconnect.

  • Ipod connects then disconnects automatically.

Hi. I have a 160gb iPod Classic. I have had it for 9 months without any problems. But now when i connect it to my pc it connects for 3-6 seconds then automatically disconnects itself.
I have tried multiple cables, that is not the problem
I have tried multiple USB slots,
I have tried it on different computers
    I have resotred the iPod
I have a mac and have tried connecting it to this but the same issue occurs.
I have seen a few posts about this before but no one ever really seems to be able to offer a possible solution apart from try a different usb port or cable. I have tried everything thus far but all in vain. It did get recongnised by my mac once and i managed to reformat it but then the same issue occurred. Then the same happened when i connected it to my PC after about 20 attempts.
Any other suggestions would be appreiated or it is off to apple care for it.
    Thanks
    Gary

I am have the same problem. I am using me i Mac, I plug in my i Pod and it says syncing for about 3 seconds and then say sync complete than about 30 seconds later it starts over again, and I never have any music on my i Pod.
I have tried different cables. I hook it up to 2 different computers, one mac pro and one dell, and it will work fine, but will not with my i mac. I have restored my i pod, unloaded and reinstalled the latest version of i tunes. it is acting like it is being turned on and off. I am also running parallels 5 with windows xp on it and when I hook up a web cam while in xp, not using built in cam, it will turn on and off conatantly, wondering if Parallels 5 might be interfiering with the program.

  • Automatically Disconnect your iPod?

When I first got my Nano, I swear that it disconnected automatically after updating, but still continued to charge. It no longer does that. I now have to eject it. When my niece plugs her Nano in, it disconnectes automatically. What setting do I need to change to get it to automatically disconnect again?
I tried searching, but I'm not sure on the correct wording, so it came up with a lot of unrelated threads.
Thanks for your help and sorry if this is a re-post!

fist, when the ipod is connected, it is always
charging, the ipod just dosent display the charge
when it is being updated. what has happend mos likely
is that in the ipod options enable disk use is
checked. if it is uncheck it.
if not, its a windows problem. you see windows has
issues being bossed around by itunes and likes to
view the ipod. it is safe to turn off the computer,
and while its off disconnect the ipod and try again
when the computer is back on. if itunes syas at the
top ipod update is complete ok to disconnect, you may
remove it and plug it back in, regardless of what the
ipod is saying on the screen.
    superfreak9184me
    That did it. Thanks!

  • 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black after a while. How can I solve this ?

My 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off (=stops the music) when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black for power saving mode. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
I have already tried resetting, connecting to PC/iTunes to check the software version, turning off/on, I don't have any inspiration anymore.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi VeerleD,
If your iPod touch unexpectedly powers off, you may want to use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting (The steps apply for the iPod touch) -
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Ipod not automatically synching

My apologies im not sure if this should appear in the ITUnes or IPOD forum.....
For some reason i can no longer get my ipod to automatically synch to itunes when plugged in.
    - On  itunes when the ipod is plugged I only have ticked "Open itunes when ipod is connected"  and "enable disc use".
    "Manually manage" remains unticked.
    - Whwn ipod not plugged in , under Music i have set "synch entire library" & uner (individual) Podcasts i have "check every day" & "download all".
However....when ipod is plugged in i still have to manualy press synch.when ipod not plugged in i still have to press the clockwise arrow symbol to check/download new podcasts.
Clearly i am being dumb here but any help wpould be greatly appreciate !
    thankd

There is a setting in iTunes preferences that may be relevant to the first issue (not syncing automatically).  In iTunes preferences Devices tab, there is a checkbox for Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.  If that is checked, the iPod connects without the initial sync.
The podcast download issue is probably unrelated to the iPod syncing issue.  Every day means once per day.  So if the check for the day already took place, it won't happen again until the next day.  If you want it to check more often, you can change that setting to Every hour.
