Ipod Classic 120G keeps rebooting on its own

I bought this new ipod 120g classic and it keeps on rebooting by itself randomly. This happens like around four to five times a day. When I click something it turns off and just shows that apple logo sign for a while. Is there a solution to this problem? I have done the software updates but doesnt seem to handle it

I have the same issue. My brand new iPod Classic was working fine with firmware 2.0. I just synched up and downloaded the 2.0.1 update, and the thing has rebooted in its dock 3 times in the last 20 minutes.
Model is an MB562. Thats the generation 2 iPod Classic. Its two weeks old.

  • Fresh Install, Fully Updated Leopard Server Keeps rebooting on its own

Just upgraded to Leopard Server from Tiger.
    Fresh, new install, fully updated.
Only software installed is Retrospect 6 and Drobo client.
My Server keeps rebooting by itself after 5-10 after logging in.
Won't reboot on it's own if I don't log in. The services are running in the background.
But once I log in as admin, after 5-10 mins, it will reboot on it's own.
Any ideas are where I should start looking on how to resolve this?

You're going to get to try to isolate this.
Any details from the crash report? (Applications -> Utilities -> Console.) Basically you're going to have to dig around in the crashes, and (if there's nothing obvious there) then, well, "try different configurations and different stuff".
This could be bad memory or a bad sector somewhere on the disk, for instance. Or a bad processor. Or a corrupt file. Or a bug in whichever Leopard Server baselevel is involved here.
    Some steps and some options...
    Disconnect all external hardware.
Run the hardware diagnostics for whichever box is involved here.
See if the box crashes if you log in as some other user.
See if the box crashes with no external hardware, or with no network connected.
If the box isn't under warranty (and any user crashes the box) (and if you're familiar with and comfortable with working inside static-senstive electronics gear), crack it open and reseat everything.
If the system is available to restore or you can blank and install, reinstall everything and leave both Retrospect and Drobo, and see if it crashes. Then add one or the other and see if that crashes stuff, rinse, lather and repeat.
Or you can call up Apple and ask for help.

  • Z10 keeps rebooting on its own 10.2.1.2977 version installed

Reboots about twice per day randomly on its own.  Has been getting worse lately.

    Hello,
First, please confirm your OS level...is 10.2.1.2977 your "Software Release" or your OS Version? The OS version is the number that is the most important.
If .2977 is your OS level, then it is not terribly current. There were at least two more versions, in the .3nnn range, after that, as well as 10.2.2.1531...all of which are more stable than what something as old as .2977 would be. So, rather than trying to fix what you have, I recommend you instead update your device to something more current.
Via the on-device as well as LINK methods, you will be restricted to what your carrier has allowed:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Smartphone/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-OS/t...
But, via Sachesi or AutoLoader, you will be able to use any version for which you can find the proper files:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-BB10-OS-Using-Sach...
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...
Given what you describe, I would recommend you use the AutoLoader method, and indeed use this process:
Take a full backup via LINK
Manually copy all of your data files from both Device and Media card to your computer
Fully document your configuration (email accounts, screen layouts, configuration preferences, etc.)
    WIPE your device
    Load your OS via AutoLoader
    WIPE your device
    Restore from the backup taken
If things operate normally, then stop here
If things do not operate normally, then redo the process starting at step 4, but at step 7 restore only your Settings and nothing else, and reconfigure the rest manually from the documentation you created in step 3.
If things still do not operate normally, then again redo the process from step 4, but skip step 7 entirely and instead manually reconfigure everything via the documentation created in step 3
Good luck and let us know!

my mac will reboot itself once or twice for no apparant reason
    I Mac G5 1.8GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Check and make sure you don't have any programs that need to access the machine (Eye TV???) and that faxes or bluetooth peripherals don't wake it.

  • My iPad mini keeps on rebooting on its own, any idea why?

my iPad mini started rebooting on its own about a few days ago.
it keeps on doing this after I use it for a little bit.
sometimes it is a few minutes, other times it may be after a while.
sometimes it happens when I just open the cover .

Checked and I bought it last October, so it is under warranty.
Chatted with Apple support and they asked me to restore to factory defaults.
Spent 40 minutes restore it to factory defaults and it still does it.
They made me an appointment for store tomorrow and if they can confirm it, they will most likely replace the unit.
I am glad it is under warranty, but it was very close to one year.
Hopefully this does not happen again in another year.
It seems to happen a lot when i use the cover.
So....is this a reoccuring problem with the magnetic cover switch???

Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple solution.  Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.

Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

my itunes keeps opening on its own without me opening it, it will happen again and again even after i close it. how do i fix it to make it stop doing this as it is extreemely annoying

If it is doing it while your device is plugged in, it is because it is set to automatically sync. Please go to: Preferences>Devices, and select the option to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically." Also, I hate to be "that guy", but you spelt extremely wrong. Just a pro tip.

  • Rebooting on its own, return it?

Hello all, My Satellite Pro A200-EZ2204X works fine for a while, but will then just reboot on its own. I have reinstalled the OS, drivers, and software twice but it keeps happening after a while. I don't think it is my software because it is all "name brand" stuff from big companies.  This is still new, should I return it?

Most likely the software or hardware you installed caused the problem.  Getting it replaced with another then loading the same software and hardware/drivers on it likey will cause the same problem.  So better to try to figure out what the real cause is.  Try doing another recovery process but don't install your hardware or software, instead test it until you are sure it is working fine.  Then install one new thing at a time and test after each step.  When you find the problem, call the manufacturer of that problem, or do a google search for the problem and the product name as it is likely others have had the same problem.

  • Droid X2 rebooting on its own

My Droid X2 keeps spontataniously rebooting.
As you might imagine, this is a bit annoying. it MIGHT be because of the Amazon cloud player, but it rebooted this AM when I tried to fire up the camera, and it's done that afew times before, also when I tried to open the gallery application.
It rebooted any number of times yesterday but it was running very hot as it was downloading files over the 3g.
Is anybody else having this problem?
    --woody

It really sounds like you have a rogue 3rd party APP causing your problems. Are there any common APPs that you & your son installed? Can you put your finger on roughly when the issue started - or has this been going on since day 1 with the phone? When you say it happens "a lot" - and assuming by that you mean at least several times a day - I would boot into SAFE MODE and run for an extended period of time, just to see if the problem goes away. if it does NOT reboot on its own, you probably have a 3rd party APP causing your grief. Other options? Just make a list of your APPs and then start Uninstalling them from last-installed date - maybe groups of 5 at a time, then test for a while. A Factory Reset - but turn OFF the automatic reinstall of your Apps.
Let us know if you can't find the procedure to do either of those & we'll direct you to the instructions. (Try SEARCH bar just above).
Oh, and welcome ...  good luck.
edit:  Here's SAFE MODE process per Wildman's post up above :  http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=43641

Your graphic card is damaged. This could be related to extensions, but the kernel panic gives you the message that your graphic card has failed.
You can only make a backup of your files with Time Machine or Disk Utility's Restore feature, and take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller. Your computer has got the graphic card soldered into the logic board, so this will be a very expensive repair

  • HT203242 I use ipod classic 120G. When I launch itunes I first of all see a message "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cds & DVDs are missing." I cannot sync my ipod. Any ideas?

I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes"   This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. I have not installed any new burning softeware. Any suggestions please?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Why does my mac reboot on its own?

Why does my mac reboot on its own?

Oh den.thed...  I saw your post this morning and I was so excited....  ran to the Mac and got to Energy Saver, and...  the checkbox is already unchecked.
Long story, I'll make it short.  Just got the Mac back after having the HDD replaced.  (It stopped working after less than 500 hours.)  This rebooting thing has been happening ever since I got the computer in 2010, and I was hoping it would coincidentally stop happening after having this crashed HDD replaced last week.  No such luck.  Still doing it, even after getting the computer back from Apple.  Two of my kids have macbooks, have used the cr*p out of them, and have had very few problems (nothing big).  I bought this Mac, to replace a dead Dell desktop that got very little use, and so far I am not sure I did the right thing.  Really wish I could get this "automatic" rebooting thing fixed.  (Reboots with no notice, while doing normal tasks - internet, word docs, etc.)  Thanks again for your help.  Let me know if I should try anything else.

  • I have this problem were my iphone just reboots on its own

I have recently upgraded to io6 and my iphone 4 cdma started rebooting on its own. I took it to a store and they said to take the battery out because it was overheating. So now i lay with a iphone without a battery. Is there any way were i can take it to the apple store so they can fix it?

Check your mouse configuration, if you have a Mighty Mouse, one configuration is to have the side buttons launch Dashboard (widgets) or click the scroll wheel for example.
