IPod classic 120gb - can't download from itunes

I sync the ipod to my mac, open it and DON"T get a management screen that I've read about.  It just opens in finder.  What is shown to be on the ipod is not what actually is.  My problem is, I'm trying to download music from itunes onto it.  When I do it shows up in the finder window as being on the ipod, but isn't.  What can I do?  I'm willing to restore it but don't know how without a management screen, and will that help?

I think I FINALLY!!! got the solution. I did all that uninstalling, reinstalling, updating, deleting..yada yada...crap. Finally, I decided just to make a new folder in My Documents and named it "New Folder". I moved all my music from "MY Music" folder to this "New Folder". I deleted all the music in my Itunes program and reloaded it from the "New Folder". It seemed to work. Good Luck!

  • Ipod classic skips with songs downloaded from itunes and mp3's.

I have an ipod 120gb classic, I listen to it in my van through my alpine car stereo, i found that it would start to play songs and then skip to the next song in the playlist, i thought it may have been the cable for the stereo that was the problem, 2 month ago i changed the stereo and the cables and with the brand new stereo the ipod is still skipping through songs which leads me to believe that its an ipod issue and not my alpine, is there anyway to correct this, as it is very annoying, i bought the ipod to avoid having cds and damagings them now the ipod is doing what cds do, skipping tracks, and then ive noticed for such an expensive investment, apple has not been able to resolve the problem.

I need to know more specifics about your problem.
Are your songs ending earlier than expected and the play count incrementing? If you push the back button to play the song again, does it end at the same premature time? Can you scrub (push the center select button once and then scroll) to a point 60 seconds after the songs cuts off and hear the remainder of the song play? If you listen to the same song on your computer and it plays fine all the way through and all of the above applies, then the problem is that iTunes is omitting a small amount of data in the midst of the data stream as it transfers files to the iPod.
Uncheck the song(s) ending too early; sync; check the song(s) ending early; sync. iTunes will then send a new copy of each song to the iPod. If any song on the iPod isn't repaired after this (and the point where the song cuts off may change), then repeating the process for any song which didn't get repaired should work.

  • Can music downloaded from iTunes be added to a slide show in Elements 12?

Can music downloaded from iTunes be added to a slide show in Elements 12? I can't get it to load into Photoshop Elements. When I finally get to the file it kind of just disappears. Do I have to get the song from someplace else?

Barbara, I don't know how to get to the artwork to remove it. I saw a post on this forum on how to show hidden files and went to the control panel and followed the instructions. I still can't see any hidden files or artwork. Hope you can tell me where I am going wrong.

  • Can't download from itunes store

About a month ago, I attempted to update my new contact info for iTunes on my iPhone. Each time I hit submit, I received an error. However, the $1 test charges went through to my account, but were never removed, resulting in about $9 worth of extra charges on my account, which I just noticed. I had to change my contact info on Apple's site. This was the only iPhone-related incident. The following are desktop (MacBook Pro) specific. However, all are iTunes-related.
A few days ago, I attempted to download the about $27 worth of music from my Wish List and continually got errors. No music was downloaded, and each attempt resulted in a different number of errors, ranging from 35-70 in total. I have the error messages saved as text files and have screenshots of the incident.
I can't download free or paid content from the iTunes Store on my MacBook now either. When I attempt to re-download, I see the progress bar blink and then nothing. Now, I am having problems syncing my iPhone as well. Playlists and Events from iPhoto do not sync, but my Music does. I get *"required file cannot be found" and "Unknown error occurred - 13019."*
I have appropriate permissions on all of the needed folders, and reinstalling iTunes did not help. I'm not sure what else it could be. I would really, really love to fix all this.

Even if you've got a higher OS version on the phone, the following document is a good place to start with that one:

  • Can't download from iTunes on iPad mini

Does anyone know why I can't download anything from iTunes on my wife's iPad mini? Works perfectly fine with App Store downloads, and her iPhone 4 is downloading fine. I have done a complete restore of the iPad mini, and she only uses one apple ID, but still no luck!

If you restored your iPad as new, and it still didn't help, I don't know if anything in here will help. in any event, I have posted this boilerplate of suggestions many times in the past and the suggestions in here have worked for others at one time or another. Feel free to give them a try.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. If you see a downloads tab in the lower right corner, then there is a download in iTunes.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. Reset your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again.

  • Upgraded to iTunes 9.0.2 -- can't download from iTunes Store (Error 1008)

So... I wanted to download Pearl Jam's new album, "Backspacer", and due to the video content iTunes asked me to upgrade from iTunes 8. Then I got a dialog box saying that I had to upgrade Safari and Quicktime as well. So I did all that, only to find that I can't download anything on iTunes anymore. I get "Could not download (album name). Error message 1008"
I've had one suggestion from iTunes Support, which I've done and it hasn't worked.
    1. I went to the system preferences of my Mac and then into sharing and remove all special characters in the "Computer Name" field. There was an apostrophe in mine but when deleted, that didn't help.
    2. Also I've seen on bulletin boards that pending purchase can cause an error message like this, but I don't have any.
any suggestions out there would be welcome!
    thanks
    Peter

Everytime I click onto download now, it brings me right to the page that says thank you for downloading iTunes.
That can sometimes be caused by pop-up blockers and/or web accelerators. If you switch all your pop-up blockers off (in the web browser, security software and any other utilities with that function) and or switch off your web accelerator, does the download go through any better?

  • My iPad keeps refusing to connect to my pc network. can't download from iTunes store.

mi iPad keeps refusing to connect to my pc/wifi network. can't download anything from iTunes, even just using it on my iPad.  even if I plug my iPad into my pc.  anyone know how to fix this?  please help!  thanks!

How about some details on your network?
What make/model router are you using?
Does your router have the latest firmware from the manufacturer?
What security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2) are you using?
What happens when you try to connect?
Does your iPad work on other networks, i.e., Borders, Starbucks, etc.?
As a stopgap it is possible to download iTunes store content from the iTunes program on your PC and sync that to your iPad (music, apps, videos, etc).

  • Can't download from iTunes Store with iMac 3.06 GHz

I recently got an iMac and an iPod Touch, which are great. The only problem is that I haven't been able to get the iMac to download music purchases or podcasts from the iTunes store (version 7.6.2). All other internet activities are fine. I am able to download podcasts/tunes using my old Powerbook G4 (OS 10.3.9) but it is not compatible with the new iPod. Any suggestions on how to get my iMac to download from the iTunes store?

Yes...provide us more information as to what is happening/not happening? Is there an error message? If so, what? What exactly is the problem?

  • HT2534 can i download from itunes using debit card in india ?

why is it that only credit cards are authorized to download or purchase songs or movies from itunes store ....... why not debit cards

Again, Apple has not said why they do not allow debit cards, so you will not find an answer why is it so. All we know is that in many countries they do not allow them.

  • Can't download from iTunes in the Cloud

iTunes Match and iTunes in the Cloud for Music has just been enabled for Denmark.
Hence music I have purchased should now be available for download on my iOS devices, e.g. my iPad.
However, when I attempt to download a song, via the Purchased 'tab' in the iTunes Store App, where I get a list of my purchases all marked with the iCloud icon, I get the error "The item you tried to buy is no longer available", see the screenshot below. I know the song IS available in the store, but I get the error none the less, and I get the error for all songs.
Is iTunes in the Cloud just not ready or is something else going on? I have tried to sign out and sign in again, restart the app, etc. to no avail.
Suggestions? - I write iTunes support and wound up in an endless loop of nonsensical replies

I too have now opened up a ticket to address the issue.
This is the details from my ticket including my current symptoms:
    Hi team,
'iTunes in the Cloud' has recently been rolled out in Denmark, however, I am unable to make it work.
    Symptoms include:
    * On iOS devices I am able to play previously purchased music, but I cannot download the music for offline use.
    * On Apple TV I cannot sign in when clicking the "Music" app.
    * AirPlay from iOS devices to Apple TV only works when I set the Apple TV setting "Play from iTunes in the Cloud" to 'Off'.
Please also note the following forum thread that has users from Denmark, Sweden and Norway seeing the same symptoms:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24130694?ac_cid=tw123456#24130694?ac_cid=t w123456
    I'll keep you updated.
