Ipod classic 160gb,error -48 and error -53 when trying to sync library

Can you help, i cant load tracks from my library and sync my ipod classic on either of my computers. i am running on both computers uptodate software versions and i have also tried all the usual reset routines but still have no joy becuase now it has lost all my music from the ipod and still wont sync.It initailly syncs until it gets to aprox 1gb full then it freezes and eventually pops up error messages. I tried the link that someone put up on previous post about the error code and tried running the enable disk and scanning for bad sectors but still i have problems. it has been working great with no real problems before now, but my ipod is now over 1 year old, surprise surprise and it is broken just like my last ones after 1 year!
Can you advise anything? i have run system driver clean up on both computers aswell and fixed corrupt sectors but still wont sync, im lost now.
Someone help please.
thanks

I am having the same problem. Sometimes I get an error code and sometimes I don't. I tried to get apple to do something about it however mine is also out of warranty so no luck. I have read about a lot a people having syncing issues like this with their ipod classic and I am kind of amazed that apple is not willing to fix this issue. If I get it fixed or have any luck with apple I will post here. Good Luck.

  • Ipod classic 120 going in to a reboot  when trying to sync

My Ipod classic 120gb often goes in to a reboot after a sync - get apple logo then main menu when it tries disconnecting
If I plug it back in its fine
Can anyone advise as to what may be going on?

    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • How do I sync my Ipod Classic 160gb with my new computer (windows 8). It synced with my old computer (windows XP) but not with my new one (windows8)

How do I sync my Ipod Classic 160gb with my new computer (Windows8).? It synced with my old computer (WindowsXP) but will not do so on the new computer?

    Hi Lechwe,
I had this issue recently, due to changing HD for an SSD.
In my case, since the library in my iPod was synced to the HD it was not syncing to the library in the SSD, though they were the same (had the same contents).
I found there's this checkbox in iTunes > iPod > [Settings] Music, called "Sync Music". Mine was unchecked, I guess due to iPod being synced to the old library. I marked the checkbox and clicked then in Sync. iTunes asked me if I was sure I wanted to sync the iPod with the "new" library, i clicked yes, and the it started determining the song to sync. Since the library was essentially the same (just a couple songs more in the new one), it synced the couple new songs and that was it.
    Hope it helps!
    Regards,
    Awlo.

  • Can't access iPod classic 160GB in Windows and iTunes

    Hello,
after connecting my iPod classic 160GB to computer with Windows Vista I can see it in My Computer but can't access it. In iTunes 10 it not appear and every access via My Computer takes many time. After disconecting iPod is restarting by itself...
But iPod itself is working - a little laggy, but working. One thing changes: about 80GB free space disappear and iPod tells me that only 153KB is free...
I suppose disk failure - how can I access it and repair?

Everything that was on your classic should also have been in your library, and that backed up to another drive. If you manually managed the device, and it was the only location holding your media, and it has become corrupted, there really isn't much hope. See Corrupt iPod classic. There may be a slim chance to recover media stored on it via disc mode if is isn't stored elsewhere, but if it won't mount, or has been reformatted, then the moment has probably passed.

  • I have an ipod nano 8gb which is full, my husband is a jazz fan, I am thinking of buying another ipod classic 160gb - is it possible to link this to the same library in itunes and just put all his jazz on the new ipod?

I have an ipod nono 8gb which is about 5 years old and is full - my husband is a jazz fan, and now I have  jazz on my little ipod and my ipod touch. I am thinking of getting an ipod classic 160gb and putting all his jazz on to it. Is it possible for me to link it to my Itunes library and his Itunes library and just put all the jazz on to the new Ipod classic? if so, how do I then delete the jazz of the other two ipods?

There is no limit to the number of iPods you can sync to one computer, iTunes library, or account.
You might want to create a seperate iTunes library for him, perhaps on another user account on the system and move all of his Jazz music over to that new library.  Once you have all of his music moved over to his own library, remove it from your own and then resync both of your iPods to clear his music off.  This is just one way to do it.
If that was a bit confusing, take a look at this article for a few ways to manage multiple iPods with one computer.

  • IPod Classic -160GB FW_DETECT=0  and Please Plug FW

having problems with my iPod... which I believe is an iPod Classic... it is a 160GB device in black with click wheel...
    The Accessorize test now says:
    LCD = 1
    FW_DETECT=0
    USB_DETECT=1
    Please Plug FW
I have no idea what the FW is and what I need to do to resolve this. This is my hubby's iPod and he's about ready to blow it up...

The same is happening to me on my iMac with my 80gb.
Have restored 4 times and the problem continues.
I have seen at least a dozen of these posts and none seem to be resolved.

  • IPod Classic 160GB - Lost Of Music & Video Files When Connected To iTunes

I currently have the latest model of the Apple iPod Classic. It's been working great until I decided to connect it to my laptop, to use iTunes. I've done this so many times before without having any problems. Until recently that is.
My laptop and iTunes are able to read my iPod, but when it shows up on iTunes the music and video section disappears. Only 'Other' and 'Free' shows on the ipod's GB stats, with only 148 GB left to use. Before this happened, I had only 110 GB or so to use, maybe even less, since I had tons of music and video files stored. Also downloaded games, which also disappeared.
I thought iTunes was the problem, but when I disconnected my iPod, I searched through it manually, and found that all of music, videos, and games are gone, it's like I didn't put anything in it. The only thing that stayed, was the notes, other than that everything vanished. Is there a way to retrieve my old music, video, and game files back? I tried looking into the hidden files of the ipod itself, and went into 'ipod_control' then to music, but every single folder was empty, all 'F' folders.
I am deeply frustrated about this. I really hope there are solutions out there to help me, without having to re do everything.
Forgot to add, don't know if this will help but, when I connected the iPod to iTunes, there was a pop up message saying something like 'CheeziPuffs cannot be found or played on your iPod' I have never had this pop up message before when the ipod worked perfectly on iTunes.

  • Ipod classic 160gb restart over and over and over and over and over

    Hi fellas!
I've received my first iPod this past wednesday (30th January) and i already have problems with it!
I plugged it to my laptop to sync a few more musics and itunes told me there was a new update for the ipod software. ok.... apple's update seemed good! (i mean, i've changed to mac in the summer 07 and never had a problem with it, i just use windows for gaming...)
After the download and update there was some error and the ipod disappeared from the itunes! i decided to restore the ipod and now it's on an infinite loop of restarting...
i've seen a few comments to leave the ipod drain the battery until it asks you to recharge, but whenever i connect it, it just begins the same hideous cycle all over again! All it appears is the apple logo like when you turn it on! i've also uninstalled itunes and installed it again (itunes 7.6) but nothing changed.
the ipod is not recognized by itunes or my computer, so i can't try to restore through the disk or change the file type.
I can also hear the disk inside stopping and restarting several times, like if its damaged and cant read past a certain point.
This is really undermining my trust on Apple!
Has anyone been able to solve this issue?
    thanks...

    UPDATE!
I called Apple technical service and followed all of their steps. Since none of them worked, they are sending me a package for me to put my iPod in and send it back to them. A replacement should arrive 1-2 weeks after i send it back and with my personalized inscription. I'll keep everyone noticed when it arrives.
So, the lesson to be learned here is:
If you're under warranty, try some of the suggestions in this forum and, if it doesn't work, call Apple right away. They will take care of you!
It ***** not no have the iPod for a few weeks, but i prefer to have everything in perfect condition, than spending those 2 weeks trying all kind tricky and shady solutions...

    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you tried resetting either device while connected to your computer? Have you tried plugging either into different USB ports as well?
