IPod classic 160gb recognized in itunes but not Windows

Bought this week and I have spent the last 3 hours trying to get this to work.
Windows says that the "hardware is installed and ready to use", but the iPod is not found in "My Computer".
Device Manager -> Apple mobile device usb driver says it is working properly. I have removed it, reinstalled it, restarted my computer, done the "5 R's" of Ipod troubleshooting nonsense and I am about to give up.
Let me also note that in device manager under disk drives there is "Apple Ipod usb device" when I go into properties under device status it says no drivers are installed for this device. I dont know if this has anything to do with it but if it does Windows says that I have the latest drivers for this device which is making my brain melt because it just said there are NO drivers! *deep breath...exhale.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

ok great now I see the ipod icon in my computer, thanks!. On to my next dilemma.
It says that when in this disk mode I can only go through itunes when adding files otherwise they will be just data files.
This is my first ipod ( ive been using a creative zen for years). I have not a single itunes file. What are my options for putting my entire 60 gb library on my comp hd into my itunes library without adding folder by folder. It would take forever manually.

There is no disk mode like it used to be with the older ipod models. If you bought your music in iTunes, make sure autosync is disabled, connect to your computer and right click on your ipod in the device list in iTunes.
Choose "transfer purchases" to copy all media and apps bought in iTunes to your new iTunes library.
Also back up manually, to be able to restore your ipod after the first sync, which will erase your device due to the new iTunes library created on your HD.
Make sure to have at least one contact and event listed on your computer, to get the merge prompt while syncing contacts and calendars.

Ipod nano 7th recognized by itunes but not turning on! help!

I bought an ipod and the screen is not turning at all. I have tried to hold the wake/sleep button and the home button at the same time but the apple log is not coming up at all. Itunes is recognizing my device and i was able to reset my ipod completely but still nothing on the screen. I charged it throughout the night and still no good. Any advice? or did anybody experiece this with the new ipod? help please

If its brand new and doing this, return it with receipt.

I recently got a new computer and all my music is on my ipod, much of it was from cd's. To transfer my music on my ipod to my computer i believe my ipod needs to show up in my computer but it isn't... can anyone help?

Okay, so i did some more looking into it and was able to answer my own question...
The ipod touch wasnt programmed with the function to go into disk mode which is why it is not showing up in My Computer... (Something along these lines)
I feel a little dumb now but i guess if anyone else had the same problem this could help...???

IPOD 1st generation recognized in iTunes but not my computer

I have a Windows XP.
When i plug in my ipod, everything seems fine, it shows up in my computer, and after a couple minutes, iTunes comes up an it shows up fine in there too. A couple minutes after that, Ipod disappears from my computer. When i try to put songs on it, itunes tells me that "the disk cannot be read or written to." It wont update the ipod either, even though itunes keeps telling me there's new updates for the ipod.
I've tried, restarting the computer, reinstalling itunes, reinstalling the ipod, reinstalling the usb port drive, and charging the ipod for hours on end etc. I'm not getting anywhere.
Can someone help me?

I mean, when I load my itune library as usual and the syncing starts, I get the problem as described as follows;
When I try to sync, I see the songs being copied then I get a message, say after about 45minutes, that, itunes cannot read the ipod contents because the ipod data drive is corrupt. I have tried different things to no avail. It is very fraustrating, and if I may say so, very disturbing.
I hope somebody can help me, for I can see now that, many people have got similar problems and they haven't been able to solve. I understand this is a common ipod problem and many people have had to abandone their ipods after such problems. It is very hurting because ipods are very expensive to buy, and so to write it off like that is very dis-heartening.

Can you elaborate a little? Are you saying that iPod keeps randomly jumping to another song midway through another? There could be many reasons for this.
The first thing you should do is try a hard reset of the device. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

ITunes 11.1.5 says my iPod Classic (160gb) full when it is not!

I want to say that after iTunes (11.1.3?) my iPod Classic (160gb) will not sync anymore.
I have recently updated iTunes to latest version of 11.1.5 with no luck!
In short, I am using Windows 7 and cannot get my iPod to sync anymore.
I keep getting the error message that my iPod is full and cannot be synced unless I clear some space...and when I say 'space' it wants
another 20gb free to just add a few new albums that I downloaded.
The problem is that I still have 15gb free and IT IS NOT FULL. With a full capacity of 148gb, I have used ~130gb. Even in the info bar it shows the correct usage of space on my iPod and shows that there IS free space.
None of it makes any sense and it is completely in error on behalf of Apple.
Also, I am no novice to PC's and have tried everything short of re-installing iTunes, which I refuse to do.
My current PC build is and has the latest software and hardware available and everything up-to-date.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, you posted the same thing into the iPod Classic forum four times, and one additional thread in (if I recall correctly) the iTunes for Windows forum. No it is not.
There is always a small amount of Other on an iPod, but large amounts of Other indicates data that has become corrupted and cannot be used by the iPod.
Your screenshot, which finally confirms the actual message you are getting, suggests that despite what you may believe, you are trying to Sync at lest 22GB of media to your iPod. One album in .wav form would only take up about 700MB, so you have to work out what else is set to Sync. Check the photos pane (just along from Summary) to make sure that there isn't an album of photos set to Sync. Also check the other panes as well, for Podcasts, videos etc. that you may not have realised are set to Sync.
If all else fails, start taking music off your iPod, so that this unknown media can be put on. That way, at least you will be able to see what is being put on that you didn't know about. Then, you can take that off and put back on only what you want.
Let me just make a final suggestion: your comment ...

... isn't going to help you in any way. Stop blaming Apple and look for the actual problem. Once you find the problem, and can therefore see the cause, then - if you must - you can blame someone.

5th gen ipod recognized by itunes but not by my computer.

I wanted to add notes to my ipod but it's not showing up in 'my computer'. The ipod is still recognized in itunes and I can still add and remove songs.
Whenever I plug it in to the computer I a message that says
"Do you want to scan and fix ipod (:J)?
There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it."
When I click Scan and Fix it says "The disk check could not be peformed because Windows cannot access the disk."
I've completely removed and reinstalled itunes and reset my ipod multiple times. I can't tell you how many time I've gone through the 5 Rs.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? or If I can fix it? I have Windows Vista.

Usually this happens when the device was improperly ejected from your PC.

IPod Classic 80GB shows on desktop but not in iTunes, so will not sync

My work Mac has just been upgraded to 10.5.8, and with it iTunes to 10.1. Now, when I connect my iPod, it appears on the desktop but not in the iTunes panel. As such, it won't sync any new content.
There is no problem with the cable, as the iPod charges while connected. I've tried resetting the iPod about a dozen times, which has no effect (once in a while the iPod says it is synchronizing, but this only lasts a few seconds and then disappears). Is there anything else I should try before I take the big step of formatting the iPod? I'm reluctant to do this because at the moment I at least have an iPod full of music - if I format and it still won't sync, I'll have a useless empty black box! Is it possible to go back to the previous version of iTunes which was syncing fine?

last week i had my ipod classic 160gb plugged into my ford falcon fg xr6 ipod connectivity hardwire for the car stereo as i have had for over a year now since i only ever take it out to update music and software. i unplugged it and was using an iphone 5 in the meantime for about 2 hours while my ipod classic was updating. when i connected my ipod classic the connection is fine i can browse files and songs like normal but no sound comes out of the speakers. i thought my car was stuffed but i have tried it on alpine pioneer kenwood aftermarket units through an ipod cable which i have done hundreds of times in the truck i drive as well as tryin to connect headphones as well as an aux cable to play through the speakers all to no avail. the ipod works fine i can scroll throught lists the seconds and minutes of the song or video roll on by so it is playing but no sound is being produced.
if anyone could help me with this ASAP it would be greatly appreciated and i would be one grateful man to have my music back. thank you in advance
