IPod Classic 6G 160Gb Issues & Itunes Crashes

I recently bought an iPod Classic 6G 160gb, added some files to the library, sync'ed it with the ipod and listened without problems. But when i was trying to connect the ipod the second/third... time to the pc, the itunes crashed, and the ipod said something like: "Use iTunes for restore" or something. The only way that i was able to get into iTunes with the ipod connected was to first start itunes and then connect the ipod.
I'll post some error logs down, from the itunes crashes:

Using Itunes 9.0.2.25 and Windows 7 x64

Okay. A generalised upgrade of all the drivers associated with your hardware and software would be probably the best way to proceed, then. (Given that ntdll.dll is such a basic component in the Windows operating system machinery that deals with hardware devices and software drivers, it pretty much could be any driver on the PC that could be causing the issue.)
The following document may be of some assistance with the device driver process:
[Updating the drivers on your Windows PC|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1768]
When you visit the drivers and downloads page for your model at your manufacturer's website, it would probably also be a good idea to check on any software updates they have available there too.
Also be sure to head to Windows Update to make sure you're up to date in that regard too.
If no joy with any of that, post back and we'll work through some other ntdll.dll troubleshooting possibilities.

I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?

Yes, you can!(:
STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.
Hope this helped! Enjoy your music!(:

Hello, I have un Ipod classic of 160GB. On my itunes it displays that I have 113gb of other that occupies my memories! what is this other and how I get rid of it?

"Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 1Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 15mb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.
If you have copies of all your media in your iTunes library this isn't a problem, but if you've been manually managing the content then you might need to try to recover the files from it first. See this post by forum regular Zevoneer on transferring files from the iPod to your computer. Some of the tools rely on the iPod having a healthy library however the manual method mentioned towards the end of the post should work regardless.

Hello,
The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...
<a href="How to put your iPod into disk mode
Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?
Have you checked this link out?:
iPod doesn't charge correctly
Does your iPod appear in "My Computer"? If so...
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
If not...
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes
Post back on what happens when you try these things out. I hope this helps!

• Why is the music list for my ipod classic grayed out in itunes?

why is the music list for my ipod classic grayed out in itunes?

I have a similar problem. Originally, my iTunes advanced setting was set such that a shortcut to the song was copied into my music library so sometimes copying songs to my iPod resulted in them being grayed out. I changed that setting some time ago and haven't had the problem until recently.
I don't know what to do. here's the situation:
1. I have a song that is stored on my file system within My Documents. (it was purchased via Amazon)
2. Through iTunes I choose the File | Import file to library (or some text like that)
3. I navigate to the location of the song
4. I import it.
5. I can play the tune from the music library or from an internal PC playlist.
6. I then attempt to copy the song to my iPod. When I do, it appears in the iPod's playlist grayed out.
I have done those steps countless times for dozens of songs without a problem. Even others that I've purchased through Amazon. What is so different this time? I should mention that this problem NEVER happens if I buy the song through the iTunes store. Only if I buy it from another source (e.g. Amazon). WHY ???

• IPod Classic won't sync and crashes iTunes. Suggestions?

Hi, hopefully someone can help me!
I have a 80GB iPod classic for 3/4 years, never had any syncing issues until now that weren't fixable by a reset.
However a few days ago I was at my parents' house and charged my iPod using their computer. The first time there was the standard message "This iPod is synced with another library" etc etc but subsequently it crashed iTunes. It was recognised by the computer as a portable media device, all the normal folders were there etc.
Now that I'm with my regular laptop, I'm having the same issues but have realised that the iPod won't sync. It crashes iTunes when it's connected and when I disconnect the iPod, should iTunes works but it displays the message: "The iPod cannot be synced. The required folder could not be found"
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've tried updated my iTunes software and resetting the iPod (pushing menu and centre), but neither has had an effect.
Edit: I should add that since charging the iPod on the other computer, I have also had issues with the click wheel, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Thanks in advance!

• ITunes 9, iPod Classic, iBook G4 - Issue!

Okay, I'm in desperate need of help.
I have an iBook G4, an iPod Classic, and had iTunes 9.
The iPod was formatted for my PC but I restored it so that I could have it on my Mac. So my issue is this: the iPod shows up on my desktop, and when I plug the iPod in, iTunes automatically opens, but the iPod does NOT show up in iTunes no matter what!
I considered going back to an older version of iTunes (iTunes 8) but I'm thinking I was told I need to use AppCleaner to get rid of all the newer iTunes crap, because when I tried without it, iTunes 8 said it could not open because the music was done with a newer version of iTunes.
So my PC is about to crash (which is the only way I download music to the iPod now) and I really need to fix this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion or encountered this problem and were able to fix it? I'm at my wits end.
Thanks!!

I used AppCleaner to delete iTunes and reinstalled iTunes 8.2 and now the iPod only appears on the desktop for a moment and iTunes says "An iPod has been detected but cannot be identified properly." Unplugging and replugging back in does not work. I then tried clicking update iTunes (to the newest version) just because I'm willing to try anything at this point and I'm back to desktop recognizing iPod but not iTunes.
Please can someone help, I am frustrated beyond belief.

• 160GB iPod Classic not recognized by iTunes

just got a new 160GB iPod Classic today, and I had no problems at first. when I was nearly finished syncing about 5500 songs to it, I accidentally bumped the dock, causing it to disconnect. i plugged it back in, and it started syncing my whole library again from the beginning. this time, something happened that caused iTunes to freeze up on my PC, so I had to restart.
I'm now left with my iPod that has only 480 songs on it, and iTunes will no longer recognize it. I had tried to update the firmware to 1.0.3 but that failed. I have the latest version of iTunes. my PC has recognizes the iPod as a separate drive as usual, the problem seems to be with iTunes.
help anyone?

This is a problem caused by 10.10.2, only way to fix it at the moment is to revert to 10.10.1.
Quite a few threads on it on other sites and only that one solution. Make sure you raise a feedback to apple though.

• IPod Classic (6G 160GB) loses music sync settings in iTunes (10.5.2)

I have a 160 GB iPod Classic 6G that has been giving me some trouble over the last few months. Everytime I would try to sync it with iTunes (10.5.2), it would lock up and I would have to perform a hard reset to allow it to reboot and sync with the computer. This has been an annoyance, but a workaround.
A few weeks ago, I gave up on this lousy workaround and restored the iPod and synced my media. Note that all the media is on the same machine (iMac 24, Mac OS X (10.7)) and that the iPod is not being shared between two differnt computers. When I connect the iPod at the end of the day to get new podcasts, I notice that the Music Sync option in iTunes is no longer selected. If I select it, iTunes reports that the music on the iPod will be replaced with music from this computer, the same computer to which it has been synching all along. Selecting this button and starting over does not solve the problem as the button is unselected the next time it is connected and restoring the iPod does not solve the problem.
Anybody else have this problem and resolved it successfully?
Thanks for your time and consideration.
-Steven

hey henke,
I , too , was wondering why the most important service that I was waiting for , was not available.... the check box for "music" does not appear.
It turns out that this service is ONLY available to users that have an AMERICAN iTunes account....
sadly , apple dons't say that and in the web site it seems that this sync service for music is availale for all.
I guess amd hope it will come to Europe soon. i myself have a German account in itunes

• IPod Classic not Syncing with iTunes on Windows 8

Hi,
I have reccently bought a new laptop which has Windows 8 64Bit pre-installed. I had my music library backed up (consisting of ripped CDs etc and nothing purchased from iTunes) and thought it would be a straight forward process of syncing this to my iPod. I am aware that this process would wipe the music off the iPod and replace it with the music on the laptop which I had no issues with.
Despite my best efforts I have not been able to get my iPod Classic 160Gb to sync with iTunes. When I plug the iPod in, it is recognised in iTunes and th iPod briefly displays a messge saying it is syncing. After about 10 seconds this message disappears.
iTunes (version 11.0.1.12) gives me the option to restore the iPod which I have done. It goes through what seems to be a very short restore session where I am not given the option to name the iPod etc before the iPod giving the brief "synching" message and then telling me that I need to eject the iPod before disconnecting.
The only way I have managed to get some music onto the iPod is by clickong on "Music" (under the iPod button) and then selecting "Autofill". Whilst this works in putting all of my music onto the iPod, if I delete a song from my library this change is not mirrored on the iPod. I also now have no option to sync my pictures with the iPod.
I have tried using compatability mode to start iTunes in Windows 7 mode but I still have the same problems.
Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong?
Many thanks

how did you fix it?

• IPod Classic 80gb SLOW in iTunes

Just wanted to add my voice to the growing number of people complaining that their new iPod Classics are causing iTunes to freeze, crash, not respond, etc.
I got mine yesterday, an 80gb one, and after a four hour synch I assumed the slowness I experienced when trying to disconnect was a result of the long first synch and thought nothing more of it.
Today though, I tried to update some podcasts and make a playlist and the entire process took about fifteen minutes because each time I tried to do ANYTHING, iTunes stopped responding for about a minute.
After a search of the web I see that a lot of people are reporting the same thing, even after getting replacement iPods. The Classic just isn't compatible with iTunes - which seems a pretty MAJOR oversight! Does anyone know if Apple are going to address this problem and sort it out with an update - or are us iPod Classic users simply stuck with a lame duck product that never should have been put on sale?
What annoys me the most about this, is that I didn't really want the Classic model anyway, I wanted a 5th gen 80gb iPod video, but by the time I'd gotten my money saved for it, the Classic replacement was out and I had to buy that for the 80gb of storage I need. I got my girlfriend a 5th gen for her birthday earlier in the year and it's been fantastic, so when my 2nd gen finally died a few months back, I looked forward to joining her with the new model.
If this problem isn't sorted out soon (either through a software update, or Apple publically apologizing for not testing their product and replacing everybody's flawed Classic with a comparable new 5th gen) this will be a real shame and a stain on a usually reliable company's reputation.

After several days with firmware 1.0.2 I still experience the following bugs:
- Randomly pauses while playing every once in a while (1-3 times per day, playing some hours per day)
- Infinite syncing - if I don´t pull the cable in the right time it syncs all over again
- While menus where horribly slow with 1.0.1 they are still very slow sometimes. I have many very big playlists (e.g. combining some genres on my nearly full 160GB Classic) and entering the playlists menu sometimes results in freezing for over 20 seconds
I hope 1.0.3 will come out soon and fix these problems, because at the moment this new iPod is a really buggy device.
