IPod classic 80GB: TV out settings cleared all the time

Hi,
despite of the experiences others made, I succeeded in connecting my iPod to the TV. I'm currently using the Universal Dock with a S-Video connection.
BUT: I have to tell the iPod everytime I place it into the dock to use the TV-out. Having done this, it works like a charm. But the next time, I plug it into the dock it's the same procedure. As it my first iPod with video capabilities I'm not sure how this worked for the 5th generation iPods.
Any hints?

Yes, I bought the dock so I could hook it up to my tv. Then I had to buy the cable, I didn't get the cable from Apple. at the time the cable was $50, I went to ebay & found the same cable for about $20. Just like you, I could not find an answer about why the dumb thing wouldn't work, so I just had do my own experiments. Good luck getting Apple to do anything. They don't seem to want to give anything away or replace merchandise.

Hi, this happened to my ipod classic 80gb yesterday.it is black out completely, no sound, no screen, no lights...i have tried to charge it by connecting to pc, but it has no reaction. the screen is still blank. what should i do?

You will be signed out as soon as you quit the browser, or within around 5-10 minutes of closing the window. The only way to stay signed in is to keep a window open all the time, either working in other tabs, or minimizing it and then going on with something else in a new window. It's a pest, but that's the way it is.

Ipod classic 80gb doesn't charge in all accesories!!!

I've always charged my ipod in several speakers (bose, jbl, sony, etc) but now it doesn't charge at all! It only charges using my usb port.
But trying different speakers, docks, even wall adapters it only charges in some of them (quite a few actually), I also tried the same speakers with other ipods and they charged properly!
What can I do so my ipod starts charging again in every accesory I try???

Did this same iPod Classic charge via these other accessories before, or have these accessories charged different iPod models you've had in the past?
The only way to ensure your particular iPod will charge using another accessory would be to verify that accessory is compatible with that particular iPod model. Most vendors are good about listing compatible iPod models on the device's box or on the vendor's website.
It could be that some of these accessories in question are not optimized for use with your iPod Classic, especially if other accessories do work including the ones that shipped with the iPod originally. I would try contacting the vendor of the accessory to verify compatibility.

Ipod mini keeps turning on and off all the time. Help

I got this ipod mini in may, it worked great, but then all of a sudden it started to turn on and off once in a while mostly now it happens once a day..i checked if maybe the timer was set but it wasnt at all, can i fix it by myself or do i have to send it back to the factory for the warranty repair.

the same thing is happening to my ipod mini, I received a brand new mini in July, and every time I use it it shuts on and off whenever I touch it, even with a fully charged battery, and it also shows the battery sign, do i need to get it serviced?

IPod Classic 80GB will only play music through the right earphone

Hi everybody
a few days ago my ipod stopped playing music through both earphones and will now only play through the right one. it isn't the headphones because i brought a new set and used another set that i know work through both earphones but neither will work through both earphones on my ipod. This problem is really annoying me. I tried resetting it but nothing. I didn't do anything to it, i just didn't use it for a few days. and i really want to avoid restoring it to factory settings because it is almost full and only a handful of my songs are on my computer. any solutions?

Yeah I now know that after finding it in another thread. Thanks anyway. I live in Australia so I just gotta find someone who will repair it because I don't wanna risk ruining it by trying to do it myself. I asked an electronics place that replaces the batteries but they wouldn't do it. So if I can't find anybody to fix it, I'll probably buy a new one (cos I need one anyway) and try to fix the old one. The problem with finding someone to fix it is that I live in a country town and about 2-3 hours from Sydney and we don't have much here.

My iPod second generation 4.2.1 crashes all the time

I've got an iPod touch second generation running 4.2.1 but he crashes a lot times. i've got no jailbreak and 1.9GB left.
when he crash, he start up again or I see weird things that doesn't have to be there.
I tried a soft-reset and restore, what can I do?

Restore as new to factory settings and start over. If there was an existing problem and you just restore from backup, the problem may return. Other than that your device is probably Outside of apples warranty period so it might be time to upgrade to a newer unit. Logged out from Facebook all the time on Lion's Safari 5.1.2

I constantly get logged out of my account on Facebook while using Safari.
What do I do to prevent this? (I have, of course, checked the "remember me" option.)

Sometimes clearing your login data can fix the logout problem. I've helped Facebook users with this issue in the past and that helped.

Login to Facebook. Click the black arrow that faces down to the right of Home top right corner of the Facebook window then click Help.
And try deleting Facebook cookies. Go to Safari > Preferences - Privacy.
Click Details. Type facebook in the search field then click Remove All > Done
Nothing in the Help section of Facebook... obviously they don't want to admit this. Same like Apple, no help files on this problem either.

i have just updated my iphone 4 16gb to an iphone 5 16gb
The iphone 4 had horrific problems, for example: Cutting out on calls, it going silent, me not being able to hear the person i was speaking to and them being able to hear me, and then visa vera.. also the main button at the bottom started to break.. my text messages weren't sending and then when they did they would send several of the same one.. also with mixed messages in them.. some of the texts had been form ages ago and had been deleted anyway and bits of them would re appear in the middle of the text, but only show to the person recieveing the text.
I thought all of this might have been some water damage as i had nearly had it for 2 years... However on Tuesday.. ( 29th Jan) i recieved my new upgrade of the iphone 5.. i was so excited, but then today.. 2 days after recieving it, its starting to do EXACTLY the same things my old phone did... cutting me off, going quiet on the phone, not sending texts, then sending several ones... sending mixed texts. Safe to say i am fuming!!! i am with vodafone and rang them today asking why?! they said it couldnt be my handset as its a new one, couldnt be the sim because thats new too so it must be the area signal.. so she checked for me.. came back to me and said that the signal in my area is perfectly fine....?!?!?! that makes it even worse!!! so i have asked to return it....!! i was going to go with a different provider thinking that it was vodafone??but after looking on here it seems like its apple? i am very disappointed as i love everything else about the phone, but its impossible to have a phone like this! especially when i use it for work too!

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

IPod Classic, 80GB won't sync but shows as Mass Storage and even shows it as " names iPod"?

A few years ago, I was given an iPod Classic 80GB for Christmas, but due to the age of my PC at the time (steam powered almost), I couldn't connect it to iTunes. I used my friends iTunes to put music on it. A few years down the line I now have my own laptop and an extensive music library on my iTunes. I tried to connect it to Sync today for the first time, and it won't.
The laptop knows it's there as it comes up as a device. When I click it, I can find "<names> iPod" in the devices hardware. When I open iTunes, it allows me to Scan and Fix. The iPod charges fine, connects and plays music that's already on it. However, when I open File in iTunes, the command "Sync iPod" is not highlighted, and therefore, unclickable.
In short -
iPod does everything it should, except Sync with my iTunes.
Any help would be very much appriciated.
My laptop is running Windows 7 and the latest iTunes.

Try the iPod Hard Reset -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then release the button
Select your preferred language.
This wont delete or erase any song/data on your iPod Classic.
