IPod Classic and Bose SoundDock Question

Hi Everyone,
I currently have an older IPod 3G and am seriously thinking about buying a new IPod Classic. I also have a Bose SoundDock. Here's my question. Will the IPod Classic fit into the SoundDock. I have all the inserts that came with ths Bose but no way to verify if one will fit the classic. Can anyone verify this or tell me if there's an insert available from Bose?
Thanks.

The Classic comes with an insert that will fit into the Sounddock.

Will the ipod classic attach to Bose Sounddock III (something about a Lightning connector)? If so, what do I need to attach it? Thanks.

  • IPod Touch and Bose SoundDock

I have a first generation 16GB iTouch (bought a year ago) and a first generation Bose Sounddock. Is it safe to use my iTouch with the Sounddock? I heard from an Apple Store employee---with no real verification---that it might be dangerous to the iTouch and they didn't know if it was safe yet. She also said Bose would come out with a statement.
So is it safe? Has anyone heard anything about it being risky to use?

It should work but mnay not charge and you may see a message saying something like "This accessory is not supported".
Although since you have a 1st gen touch, it will probably work fine.
The 2nd gen touch and teh 4G nano do not charge over FireWire which is what most accessories use.
Apple told developers a few years ago that FireWire charging was going away but most didn't do anything so new iPod owners are all up in arms over it.

  • IPod Classic and iTunes 10.5.x

I've been monitoring the iPod Classic forums for over a month now, trying to get a feeling of whether to upgrade my Windows 7 system to the latest iTunes (10.5.x). I'm interested in the update for the security fixes, but have been wary ever since iTunes 9.
I'm impressed with the folks that answer here, and have attempted to summarize my observations regarding the common questions in this post in my journal. The impression I'm getting, at least from the support questions and answers, is that iTunes 10.5 is iffy. I'm seeing lots of questions where iTunes (apparently 10.5) seemingly hangs in the middle of a large transfer (usually due to an interaction with the anti-virus software), and ends up corrupting the filesystem on the iPod Classic, requiring a restore and a retransfer of all files. Further (especially a concern for folks like me with over 26,000 songs), that transfer needs to be done in small chunks.
So, my question to the experts on this forum (turingtest, planb77, bilbo_cheshire, and all the other good folks here) is: Is my impression correct? If I have no need to use the cloud (which doesn't work with the iPod Classic) and if iTunes 10.4 is working fine, don't f---  with it.
Secondly, does anyone know if Apple is aware of these interactions, and is it likely to be fixed in a future version. My fear, of course, is that the iPod Classic is a dead iPod classic playing, and there won't be Apple support for a device with the large storage capacities.

  • Using the video iPod with the Bose SoundDock

I just purchased the new video iPod and Bose SoundDock, I noticed that I can't fast forward through MP3s when using the SoundDock remote, anyone else notice this? Downloaded the latest updates from Apple's website, didn't help...

    Hey,
I had exactly the same problem and updated both my iTunes software and my iPod Software (downloaded the latest iPod updater) and the problem has been fixed. My iPod video is now running software version 1.1 and I can fasst forward and rewind using the Bose remote with no problems now!
I loved the SoundDock before, but now it just feels all that more complete. Hope it helps.

  • Problems with iPod Classic and iTunes

Since a previous post of mine (where I was complaining about the bugs on iPod Classic and/or iTunes) has been deleted, at last I have the confirmation that some Apple fellow is reading these posts.
So my question is addressed to any Apple employee that is reading this:
Should I return my iPod Classic or should I wait for Apple to provide any fix/update/informations?
    Thank You

I recently connected my new ipad to my itunes, but now itunes will not recognise my ipod classic, and 50gig of music has gone. ipad connects ok but no longer ipod which has been there for two years! help!!!

What happens when the iPod is plugged in?  anything?  any errors?
Why is 50GB of music gone?  All music should exist on the computer.  Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

  • HT1657 I rented a movie to add onto my ipod classic and when I moved it to my ipod it is no longer there and it is no longer in my purchased section on my itunes.

I recently rented a movie to add on my ipod classic and it wasn't transferring when I would sync so I manually move it to my ipod but when I go on my ipod it is not there and it is no longer in my purchases on itunes.  help!

Is this on your computer or on iPad/iPhone ? If you are on an iPad or iPhone then it should have downloaded into the Videos app - iTunes on those devices is just the iTunes store, and if you just see the Ts & Cs link on the Downloads tab then that means that there are no outstanding downloads waiting.

  • I have an ipod classic and just had to replace my old laptop.  When purchasing tunes, while they show up on my laptop they no longer sync to my ipod.  can anyone help?

I have an ipod classic and just had to replace my laptop.  When I purchase music, while it downloads to my laptop, it no longer syncs to my ipod.  Any ideas?

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

  • I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?

I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?

    Yes, you can!(:
    STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.
Hope this helped! Enjoy your music!(:
