Ipod Classic audiobook settings

I have placed audiobooks onto my Ipod Classic 160G, I have managed to put into one long book on my Itunes but not on my ipod. It shows each track seperate (and theres roughly 500 tracks per book) and wont skip onto the next one no matter not if I turn the autoreply off.
Can anyone tell me how I can get my Ipod to recognise the chapters as one book?
Also how can I get my Ipod to play the chapters one after another?
I would like anyhelp I can get with this.

Obviously there is actually NO WAY to use the section "audiobooks" for more then ONE audiobook. And this have to have only one file... I know that ***!
The only work around is like this:
create in iTunes for every single Audiobook a seperate playlist. Put the according book into this list and sync the lists to your classic. So do I at the moment also. There the iPod also will sort all tracks by name. I recommend to reassign the Tracknames like "001 - [name of book]", "002 - [Name of Book]" aso. So you make sure that your book will be played in the correct sequence.
I hope apple will fix this section by taking a look at the way the iPhone and iPod Touch is handling the audiobooks. there every book is shown as seperate album. Until this, the workaround is the only way to listen to your audiobooks...

This thread - with a quote from an LR4 Beta thread - says that all 6 central Basic controls in PV2012 (Exposure thru Blacks) are now image-adaptive, as were Recovery, Fill Light, and Clarity in previous versions:

Whether they are suitable for creating a Timelapse sequence without significant flicker is entirely subjective and up to you - and of course, dependant on your specific images & how they change over time.  Sorry, not much advice beyond try PV2012, and revert back to PV2010 if you get too much flicker.

  • Ipod Classic audiobook trouble

Ok, so in an effort to separate my books from my music I have spent weeks (I have a lot of audiobooks) combining my multiple track books into one file for each book.  So now, they show up in the audiobooks section of my ipod in alphabetical order by album title (book title at this point).  I started listening to one book, and noticed when it finished that it automatically began the next book in alphabetical sequence.  Why would it do that?
And, problem number 2.  I have one book that has a bookmark of some sort in it and the ipod will not let me fast forward past that point.  I can play past that point, but not fast forward.  Everytime I let off the fast forward button it automatically goes back to that bookmark spot.  I don't SEE anything a bookmark, but something is there that prevents fast forward.
    Any ideas?

  • Audiobooks not playing on iPod Classic

I downloaded an audiobook from iTunes. It will play on computer thru iTunes Library and will also play on computer when I click on iPod Audiobooks but will not play on my iPod. The info shows on video screen, but no playback.

It's a long time since I've experienced 1 of 0 on my iPod Classic and I can no longer remember what causes that.
However, 1 of 1 usually means that you are playing the iPod in shuffle mode and that all the songs in the Playlist are set to Skip when shuffling. In this situation, as a song is playing, every other song is set to be skipped, therefore there is nothing else to play - so 1 of 1. So if you are using shuffle mode, check the songs (in your iTunes Library) for Skip when shuffling. To do this, highlight a song and select File/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling> - no tick in the box.
If you need to change those settings, you need to Sync the Pod to iTunes afterwards for the changes to be on the iPod as well.

  • Podcast & Audiobook Playback Options on iPod Classic?

I recently got a new iPod Classic (7th Gen) as an anniversary gift, but I've been having trouble with how it handles Podcasts & Audiobooks - the iPod I used to have was a couple of generations older (I think 5th Gen?).  Basically the two biggest issues I have are:
    1. Podcasts - the older iPod used to play just a single episode, and then exit back to the main menu once the episode was over (unless I queued several episodes together in a playlist).  The new iPods treat podcasts like an album, and continue playing the next track.  This wouldn't be an issue, except that podcasts are sorted in newest -> oldest order, such that it will play Episode 13, then move on to the next track which is Episode 12, and I have to stop it, go back to the menu, and select Episode 14.  Is there any way to get the order to sort ascending (changing it in iTunes didn't appear to affect the order on the iPod at all)?  Or at least an option to play only one episode at a time and not automatically cycle through them?
    2. Audiobooks - I classified my audiobooks into various genres such as "Classics", "Fantasy", "SciFi", etc. in iTunes, and on the old iPod, these genres would show up under Music->Genres in the iPod menu (alongside Rock, Pop, etc.).  This appears to no longer be the case.  Similarly, audiobook authors no longer appear in the list of Artists and audiobook titles no longer show under Albums.  It appears the only way to access audiobooks now is through the
Music->Audiobooks menu?  And unfortunately it appears as though the Audiobooks menu only lists individual track names, and not Artist or Album?  To make matters worse, the track names are being sorted alphabetically and ignoring the Disc # & Track # metadata stored in iTunes.  Is there any way to fix any of this?
Any help would be appreciated!  I've poked around in the settings both on the iPod itself and in iTunes with the iPod connected, but I haven't found a way to correct any of these issues yet.

I've found a workaround for this problem: the Join Together v5.1 iTunes script from Doug's AppleScripts combine the segments into two large AAC files.
Now it's OK if the iPod stops playing segments after they finish because they're hours long instead of minutes.

  • If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks, any ideas please?

If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks and then sync them, any ideas please?

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

  • Audiobook chapters no longer grouped by book on iPod classic

My new iPod classic arrived today. When I synced it to iTunes 7.4.2 I found that the contents of the Audiobooks category were no longer grouped by title. Instead, all of the files were simply alphabetically sorted. So all of the "Chapter 1"s from all of the books appear together in the list. And they play back that way, too—going from Book A's Chapter 1 to Book B's. This basically makes it impossible to listen to an audiobook.
Also, "Audiobooks" no longer appears in the list of Genres, though it did on my old iPod.
All of my audiobooks are .m4b files and show up in the Audiobooks category (not in the Audiobooks genre under Music) in iTunes.
Has anyone else seen this? Any idea what's going on?

See the first section of Corrupt iPod classic. If the media files aren't visible in the hidden folders then it may still be possible to use an unerase/undelete or other file recovery tool.

  • Unable to load an audiobook on a ipod classic 5 gen

I just purchased a used ipod classic 5 gen. After resetting the ipod as noted on itunes, I went to sync an audio book to the ipod and get an error message that the audiobook was uinable to be loaded on ipod. What am I doing wrong?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I just bought an audio book from iStore, it is in my iTunes under "audiobooks" but will not sync with my iPod Classic, any ideas?

I have downloaded several audiobooks from audible and they have synced fine with my iPod but this book from the Apple Store will not sync from my iTunes to my iPod.
I am also having an issue with iTunes U; I have subscribed to the two classes I am taking this term and downloaded the videos to iTunes but when I sync my iPod classic I keep getting this error message: "Some of the videos in your iTunes Library were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." I'm not sure what is going on because I have used this feature on my iPod classic before and it worked fine.

Those videos are probably not in an iPod-friendly format. It’s picky about that. You can try converting them, if possible.
As for the audiobooks, are you sure they haven’t synced? You’ve enabled it to sync books and checked the “Audiobooks” section of your iPod?

  • My iPod Classic 80Gb won't sync with iTunes after "Restoring" to factory settings

My iPod Classic is probably about 8 years old, or maybe a little more and has never before given serious problems. Until I recently "restored" the device, the hard drive had about 40Gb of music and podcasts stored on it but no photos or videos.
The device recently just "died" completely and without warning - just a blank screen with no response from any of the controls.  I rebooted it using the "Menu" and "Select" buttons and it came back to life. However as it had recently been displaying some other small issues like having to be manually ejected every time after syncing, instead of automatically saying "it is now safe to disconnect" as it always used to, I thought I'd restore it to its original factory settings and then reload my catalogue.  Big mistake!
Now when I connect the device, it won't automatically sync as it always used to; and when I try to manually sync it either from the "Sync" button at the bottom right hand corner of the iTunes screen or by right-clicking on the device's icon in iTunes and selecting the "sync" option, the iTunes banner simply states "iPod sync is complete" and "Eject before disconnecting" with no data being loaded.
My computer is a Windows 7 PC running the latest version of iTunes (11.3.1.2) and the iPod device software is up to date (version 1.1.2). <my windows updates are carried out automatically.   I have worked my way through the iTunes diagnostics pages, but to no avail.
Any assistance in resolving this issue would be much appreciated.

You would have to update you Mac os.
    It is clear:

  • My iPod Classic 120GB is clicking and not turning on. It has been charged but does not hold charge. I am not able to restore factory settings. Error code and have tried troubleshooting options without success. Thoughts?

My iPod Classic 120GB makes a clicking noise when syncing with iTunes and will not sync. It will not turn on at this time and has been charged but does not hold the charge. After trying to sync, iTunes states that iPod must be restored. Have tried to do this but not successful, I receive an error code and have done the troubleshooting steps for the error and I am still not able to sync or use my iPod. HELP?

    Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:
