IPod Classic being recognised but not syncing when prompted?

My iPod Classic is apparently running the latest iPod software, and I've just updated iTunes to the most recent version but I'm having the same problem I've had with another laptop.
The laptop recognises the iPod, and shows it up in iTunes. I press Sync, and the screen on my iPod says 'Synchronising' for a few seconds, and goes straight back to 'Connected', with iTunes not saying anything about any syncing, and nothing transfers. I had this with my last laptop, which one Apple Genius in store couldn't work out an issue with though it still didn't work, and on my next visit it everything worked fine again (with my last laptop this was halfway through owning it, not a new one as I'd synced on it before)
Is this something that can be sorted easily?

Is your iTunes account authorized for this computer in iTunes? - to check, open iTunes, and in the top menu bar, select "store", then "authorize this computer".

  • HT1386 I have a ipod classic and it is not syncing when I buy a song in itunes.

I have a new Ipod classic and when I first plugged it in to my computer, it downloaded all my songs I have had in itunes. But this is the first time I am buying songs off itunes and have bought 2 now, and they will not sync to my ipod. When I eject the ipod, it says syncronizing, but the songs do not show up. I have the download automatically box checked. ANY help greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks

p.s. I know I may be in the wrong area for this, but at the bottom it gives no option of ipod classic, and it is not a touch.

My ipod classic 80 gb will not sync with contacts in outlook in windows 7. It never has synced all contacts but for a while it would sync "All Contacts" if I created a distribution group in Contacts for that purpose.  Now it will not even do that. What can i do ?

    Hi there,
I would recommend reviewing the process for setting up syncing in iTunes 11. Take a look at the article below for more information.

Although you used the new USB 3.0 port, the actual connection speed is still USB2.0, as the iPod Dock connector, does not have the 10 times faster USB3.0 signal pins, the connection speed is still 480Mbits/s
I assumed that you have tried the other USB 2.0 port to no success..
Can you do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.

  • Ipod Classic 7th generation will not sync with all movies in Itunes

I just bought an Ipod classic today, due to my iphone 5 not able to connect to my car entertainment system and car stereo.  Needing a 30 pin to connect to it.  So I bought it, connected it to my mac computer, and not all the movie files will sync to it.  I get this message:
For some reason, some of my movies will transfer to the ipod classic, and some will not.  They are all m4v files.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

  • IPod Classic 5th generation will not sync with new MacBook

I have had a 5th generation iPod classic that I have been super happy with.  I have used it with several PC laptops.  Because I have gone through so many PC's, I decdied this year to get a new MacBook Pro.  Since my old PC was dying it took forever to get all my music and videos transferred to my new MacBook. Anyhow, I have had no luck syncing my iPod with my new MacBook.  I have read several other posts (but mostly older like 2007-2010) that others have had similar problems.  Here is a quick list of what I have done/what has happened:
Initially, I would get one of two messages:
'The ipod '(My Name) ipod' cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-124)'
    - 'The ipod '(My Name) ipod' cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found.'
Two times it told me I needed to use a USB 2.0 port (but I have a new MacBook and was using the newer 3.0 port).  I haven't seen that message since.
It actually "transferred" over 4500 of my 7000 items (I have a ton of music that I use for my job) and then just stopped. When it was disconnected only about 200 songs were actually on my iPod.
    I've restored it several times.
Seems to "freeze" on random songs or videos and will not continue to sync, even theough the iPod says it's syncing.  Then iTunes freezes.  I have to "force quit." Sometimes (but not all the time) if I try to re-open iTunes, I get a message that says iTunes is locked.
I thought maybe my cable was bad (it was the original that came with the iPod).  I actually spent $20 and got a new one.  No luck.
With the new cord iTunes now gets frozen on the 3rd or 4th song it is trying to transfer. Once I disconnect the iPod (I have to disconnect with ejecting because iTunes is frozen and it also freezes up Finder to eject) my iPod makes an awful click sound and I have to start it by toggling and then holding the play/pause button.
I have tried enabling disk, manually controlling music, etc. but nothing helps.
I am sick about it because I rely on my iPod a lot for my job-- and I can't afford a new one since I just bought a MacBook.  I think it has something to do with the fact that I got this new MacBook.  My old PC was getting so sensitive that I didn't download the latest version of iTunes (but I still had the second latest version).
    Any help is appreciated.

  • My iPod classic 7th Gen  will not sync with my new computer. itunes is installed and updated.

    fellow iPod classic owners,
the problem is a failure to sync with the new computer. the conditions are as follows: the new computer is a pc. it has the latest iTunes software installed. the iPod is installed properly. i'm fully recognized by my iTunes account. there is nothing lacking other than my iPod's refusal to sync with my new computer. what have i left undone? i could be suffering from a duh, but i'm not the only one. nothing in the apple world is as difficult as this one is, at least on the surface. if it were that simple an issue, no one would be having any problems with it. any more information needed can be provided by request. by the way, the computer being used has been authorized. that is a non-issue.
                                                                                                                 your help is appreciated,
                                                                                                                     hardphil.

I believe the IPOD (Classic) uses USB 2.0,  and my new laptop uses USB 3.0.  I think they are not compatable because of this.  If you find a solution to this please let me know.
    Thanks,

  • HT6437 iPod Classic on Desktop but not in iTunes

I have an iMac running the latest version of iTunes and Yosemite. I plug in my apple iPod classic and it shows up on the desktop and will actually start iTunes but will not show up in iTunes. If iTunes is running when I plug it in the it will bring it to the front, but still not show up. Any suggestions on how to get it to show up and syncing iTunes would be greatly appreciated. This is only happened since the latest upgrade in Yosemite.

To add information if I have iTunes not running and connect any one of the devices iTunes will start up but non of the devices will sync or show up in iTunes. They all show up on the desktop however. I have an old iPod Touch that is not set to disk mode that does show up and sync so this has me wondering if it has some thing to do with the disk mode setting.

  • My iphone4s will charge but not sync when connected to my macbook pro, using the latest itunes

My iphone4s will charge when plugged into my macbook pro but will not sync. I am using the latest version of itunes and I already tried restarting both the computer and the device. What gives??

After days mucking around this worked for me..
For Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not  present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device  if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called  "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see  "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program  Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.

  • IPad 2 recognised but not syncing since update to iOS 7.0.3 and iTunes 11.1.2.

I'm asking this on behalf of my neighbour - she updated her iPad yesterday, connected to her laptop and then updated iTunes when prompted to.  We then went to sync songs from her library which we had just imported from CD, but although iTunes said it was syncing, it whipped through the stages clearly to fast to have actually transferred data.
I went to the Apps screen in iTunes to see if they were syncing correctly, but although the individual screens/pages showed up correctly, the list of available apps did not appear in the window on the left side.
We tried restarting both the iPad and the laptop but after 5 attempts the device and software are still not working together.
Is this a known issue, and is there a fix for it?
(I have an iPad 2 but thankfully haven't 'upgraded' yet!)
    Any help very much appreciated

  • Ipod Classic 80 GB will not sync to itunes, but is recognized by itunes

I recently went to macmedics to get my ipod fixed i had broken the hardrive. they put in a new hardrive but when i went to sync my music it would only sync aboutm300 songs of my 23 GB of music before freezing the computer and throwing out error -53, -50, or 1303. so i googled a bunch of stuff, did the whole device manager thing and installed the right apple usb mobile device driver thing, didnt solve anything. uninstalled itunes, restarted comp., installed itunes again, same problem. so i decided to restore the ipod to factory settings, did so it downloaded some ipod software update and now whenever i click the sync button it completely ignores my command and reverts to the title of whatever song i am playing. any ideas of what i can do. i have a 1 year warranty with mac medics but i have a feeling they are going to tell me there is nothing they can do. if someone has an answer i'd REALLY appreciate it.

after restoring it once again, it has also reverted back to only syncing up to around 400 songs before getting stuck on a track for half an hour before telling me it cannot sync the ipod.

I recently replaced my iPod 6th gen HDD and ribbon cable, but when I connect it to my PC and iTunes recognizes it, I can't sync or load music to it 'cause it displays an 1439 error, What can I do?

I assume you have tried everything in this article? And I do mean everything.
    iPod: Cannot restore or update in iTunes with error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436, or 1439
Have you tried restoring it another available Mac or PC to see if the problem persists there?

  • My IPOD Classic 160GB is now not recognized by iTunes and will not sync

I have a 160GB IPOD Classic that now will not sync with iTunes. Both the iPod and iTunes have up to date software versions and I am connecting thru a MAcBook Pro running OS X 10.10.2. I have synced this iPod i the past with no problems and now it does not appear in the iTunes source list.
I have tried the rest options that the Troubleshooting guide suggested and now at a loss for the next step.

This is a problem caused by 10.10.2, only way to fix it at the moment is to revert to 10.10.1.
Quite a few threads on it on other sites and only that one solution. Make sure you raise a feedback to apple though.
