  • Can I charge my 2013 ipod classic with my original ipod classic firewire charger?

Can I charge my 2013 ipod classic with my original ipod classic firewire charger?

Nope, I'm sorry. iOS/iTunes only (you need a connection to your network, and the iPod classic doesn't have network capabilities).

  • Ipod Classic (120Gb) charging

My Ipod Classic (120Gb) charges when I use my Retina Ipad USB charger but does not show the charging/completed symbol as it does when I charge from my PC. My Ipod Nano (2Gb) has no problem with either method. Any ideas why?

    Hi Mario,
All good information but it doesn't answer the question. The Adaptor supplied with the latest Ipad is more than adequate to supply the Classic and so I would expect the charging symbols to appear. When using the standard 5w charger the Ipod displays the charging state correctly but when using the 10w charger it gives the impression that it isn't charging even though it is. One snippet I didn't say is that the charge symbol only showed a 50% charge when in actual fact it was fully charged.
Anyway thanks for your interest if I find an answer I let the community know.

  • Ipod / iPhone car charger

What is the difference (if any) between the iPod & iPhone car charger?
When I plug my iPod car charger into my iPhone the alert +'This accessory is not made to work with iPhone. Do you want to turn on Airplane Mode?+
I have not tried to actually connect it to the car charger as yet and would appreciate any ideas or experience of same.

You can safely ignore that message (and not use Airplane Mode). It just means the accessory is not shielded against cell phone signals (i.e. you may get some static on your car radio).

Can iPod classic be charged with the iPhone's or iPad's charger?

There shouldn't be any issue using one of those chargers.  When I need to charge something, I just connect to any 30-pin connector/charger that's closest.

  • Using my old  ipod classic 5g charger on the new ipod touch 3g?

is it possible to use my old ipod classic 5g charger on the new ipod touch 3g? thanks

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Updateentries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:

Does it go through properly this time?

  • IPod Classic Car Connectivity Help....

    Hi Folks,
I have a GM Trailblazer with the stock car stereo due to my OnStar Service.... What I would really like to do is connect my iPod up to the car directly via its AUX port on the stereo, but I however do not like my car to charge my electronic equipment... (The reasoning is due to the poor unfiltered energy that the Alternator generates, has often distroyed my Cell Phone batteries and others - not in this car specifically but overall due to the non standardized and clean format electricity produced by the car's engine)...
Therefore with that being said, has anyone had any luck with any CAR connectors which allow you to hook your iPod up to a GM vehicle with a OnStar type radio that doesn't require power?
Alternatively, I am looking for a SMALL FM transmitter to plug into the Classic so that I can transmit to the FM stereo... However, due to the awesome cradle I found by bracketron, I can not use the iTrip or TuneStik due to the extended length of the transmitter... DLO has the micro but again it plugs into the cigerrete lighter which I don't like, andthe iTrip Pocket will not work according to Griffin Technology because of the screen push technology that they need to implement to see the FM transmission frequency... This screen pusch technology was removed from the iPod Classics...
So with the above said, anyone have any advice for me?

and i tried to restore it but that didn't work
    Why, what happened?
You could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
To exit forced disk mode, reset the iPod.

  • Can't access IPod Classic when charging

    Hi All...
I have 30GB Ipod classic. When I plug it into the computr to charge (USB), I see a flashing red circle with line thru it in the middle fo the screen with message Do Not Disconnect.
While it is charging I cannot clear this fromthe screen and listen to the stuff on the Ipod. Is there something wrong or is this by (very very very bad) design?
How can I listen to the Ipod while it is charging?
I tried to eject the device from systray icon, but when I do that, it stops charging?
    Help please.
    Thanks in advance.

This is because the iPod is being synced to the computer, which means that it is being updated and the information on it is being changed. While that is happening you cannot do anything with the iPod. Once it has finished syncing, (when the message *iPod sync is complete - OK to disconnect* displays in the top of the iTunes window) you can click on the *Eject iPod* button which you will find in the bottom right hand of the *iTunes summary screen* (not the systray icon) and which will "disconnect it" from iTunes but allow it to continue charging. You can then listen to it while it is still plugged in and charging.

No, nothing wrong with it or the design. It is syncing as well as charging. If you try to "use" the iPod while it's being updated that would confuse it!
I tried to eject the device from systray icon, but when I do that, it stops charging?
That is not the correct (or best) method of disconnecting the iPod. As I stated above, you should use the *Eject iPod* iPod button.
By the way, there is no such model as a 30GB Classic, perhaps yours is a 5th generation or photo iPod? See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61688 for information on identifying your iPod model.

  • IPod Classic not charging or showing in coputer devices/iTunes

When I connect my iPod classic (120Gb) to my laptop it no longer shows under the computers devices.
The screen of the iPod shows "Charging. Please wait...". However, it does not charge. I have tried connecting the iPod to other computers to charge and with other USB connectors but there is still no difference. HELP!!

    Hello Aideen,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
So you have tried using a different USB cable as well as plugging the iPod into different USB ports on your computer? Have you tried resetting your iPod with it connected to your computer? To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears. Try more than once if need be.
Otherwise, have you considered uninstalling iTunes and all Apple software on your system and starting from scratch? Here are instructions if need be.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
What happens when you force the iPod into *Disk Mode* using the instruction in this Apple support document?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
Does it appear in "My Computer" at least as a mounted drive? If so, try reformatting it using the tools provided by windows?

  • Ipod classic 60gb charge issues

    hi,
i have a 60gb ipod classic & recently it has decided that it will switch itself on when putting it to sleep, or even when you don't touch it. it also will not hold any charge possibly because of this??
also if the wire is not in a particular point it will say connected then disconnect itself.
any help or reason why it would do this all of a sudden?

  • Ipod on car charger all the time

im putting a ipod on my harley and was wondering if it would hurt anything if i powered it through the car charger so i wouldnt have to worry about the battery going dead?

If the charger works correctly is should stop charging when charge is complete. Use an iPod rated for charging iPods and you shouldn't have any problems.

  • Can I use my iPod Touch car charger on my iPad 2?

I have an iPod Touch and have a car charger for it. I just purchased a new iPad 2, and want to know if I can use the same car charger for it? If not, what technical specs should I look for when buying a new charger?

Yes you can use it, BUT, it will charge much slower than the 10W wall charger.

  • IPod Classic not charging after sync

When I plug my iPod Classic into my computer, it syncs up normally with iTunes, and the battery icon gives a "charging" indication. But when it finishes the sync and says "OK to disconnect", the icon stops showing the charging symbol, and the iPod stops charging itself. It only shows the charging icon for the few seconds while it's actually on the "Connected to iPod" screen and syncing up. The battery is now almost dead and I am at my wits' end. It only started doing this recently, I suspect due to some update or another. Help?

I've just had the same problem and couldn't find any answers. You may have found this out by now but thankfully you can still charge the iPod at least...
Open iTunes and click on preferences (either from the small box in top left, or under edit); click on devices; make sure "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" is ticked; Click OK.
Now when you plug in your iPod the "Connected - Eject before disconnecting" screen should remain and it should charge. Then do any syncs after it's fully charged.

  • Ipod Classic 20gb charging, but "Unknown" to the computer

My Ipod Classic 20gb is charging when i plug it into the computer, but the computer will not see it as a device. I have tried putting it into disk mode, but the computer just says "Unknown USB Device." All I am trying to do is wipe the Ipod so I can put in a bunch of new music onto it so I am willing to wipe it.

To be of any assistance, I need the following info
Which version of itUnes are you using?
What is your iPod software version, as shown in the Itunes summary page? 1.1.2 or 2.0.4
Are you running Mac or Windows?
Have you tried the Hard Reset?
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
