Ipod Classic Date Format

Hi, can anyone tell me how to change the date format on an Ipod Classic from Amercian (mm/dd/yyyy) to British (dd/mm/yyyy)?
Many thanks.

Hi, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I don't think you can change the format, not that I've really looked until now. I certainly can't find an option on the iPod for it. Then again as far as I can see the only place it actually appears in that form is on the Set Date page, everywhere else I see Nov 18 2009 or November 18, 2009 so it shouldn't be too confusing.

  • 160 GB Ipod Classic - data transfer problems

Hi I have a 160 GB Ipod Classic that I have been using to transfer large amounts of data files back and forth between home and work. I had a PC laptop at home and originally had the Ipod formatted for PC, but recently bought a new Mac Book Pro and reformatted it to MAC. Now when I try to hook up to a PC at work it will not recognize the drive and wants to format it to PC.
Is there anyway around this? I could reformat it back to PC and still use it on the MAC, but I like to have it formatted to MAC so that software updates occur when I hook it up. I am trying to make the jump and live in Mac-Utopia...:)
Also, I now have the Itunes library transfered to the MAC
Any help out there would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Is there anyway around this?
Not without installing software such as HFSExplorer or MacDrive onto the PC.

  • Ipod Classic Re-Formatted In Disk Utility Not Being Recognized

I last posted about this question 4 months ago on this forum and still havent received an answer that works. My Silver Ipod Classic 80GB was used to update the OS on my computer. Foolishly I partitioned the disk on it using disk utility and updated my computer. After i tried to erase the partition the ipod stopped being recognized as an ipod on my mac running OSX. It is recognized as a hard drive. I formatted it with Mac OSX extended Journaled in disk utility and nothing seems to work. When i plug it in itunes auto starts and pops up but the Ipod simply doesnt show up in the side bar. I have tried it on all different macs and windows computers and it still wont be recgonized on the mac. On the windows machine i am able to reformatt it so it works with a PC but when i plug it into a mac itunes autostarts and it still isnt recognized as an ipod
    help would be greatly appreciated

i dono man, but I have exactly the same prob. if u wouldn't mind letting me know if you figure it out I will be happy to send u a quick message if I figure it out first

  • Corrupted iPod Classic data recovery? In need of a guru.

So, I have an iPod classic, and it seems to work almost entirely fine - it occasionally doesn't respond, but it has 11,000+ songs on it, and is a couple years old.
My issue here is that there is plenty (read: more than $10,000 worth) of store-bought CD music on there (some of it awfully rare) and I am going to lose it all if I can't figure out how to rescue it.
iTunes calls the iPod corrupted, Disk Drill and Drive Genius (free versions of both) don't seem to be doing much good.
The only thing that MAY have been progress that I did was copying the drive to a dmg file, but the dmg won't mount ("no mountable file systems" error).
I feel so close to being able to fix this issue, and the music is there to listen to, so why is it so hard to get to it??!!
I have done the following things to try to fix the issue:
    Charged iPod fully before connecting
    Connected in Disk Mode
    Ran Diagnostic Mode
(HDD Smart test returned the following:
    Retracts: 55
    Reallocs: 56
    Pending Sectors: 744
    PorweOn Hours: 93
    Start/Stops: 29303
    Teamp: Current 34C
    Temp: Min 10c
    Temp: Max 50c)
At this point, I don't know what to do to either the .dmg on the computer or the ipod itself so I can have my music again.
I wouldn't be freaking out, but again, 10 grand is on the line.
    Please help!!!
    -Sam

From your Smartdata report, it looks like your iPod hardisk is dead, it is hardware like dying drive, or weak power to the drive.
The  3rd party HD repair tools, wont help, as the HD cant get the right spin to write/read the boot cluster, see the high Start/Stop numbers counts, the high pending is also indicative of bad clusters, failing to write data to the HD.
There MIGHT be some vendors who can recover your data, but the hardisk is a write off., I google "ipod hardisk data recovery" and got this site, so perhaps you can find one in your country.
    Have a nice day!

  • Does restoring an ipod classic (prior format on Mac) in Windows delete music?

Does restoring an ipod classic (which was previously formatted on a Mac) in Windows 7 delete the music already on ipod?

    Thanks fiend,
I don't have access to a Mac. This ipod (bought 2nd hand) is my first apple product & came with some music on, but I can't add any, till I reformat to use in Windows. Was hoping not to lose existing music but ..... Thanks for helping a novice.

  • Ipod Nano date format

I have an Ipod nano and have started to download podcasts. These are dated, but for some reason my Nano will only use a rather odd date format, where the month comes first, and then the date. I have searched for the option to turn this off, and return to dd/mm/yyyy, but cannot find it. Can anyone help?

    Hi Richard,
    See this post:
    iPod 1.2: About the Clock
    ...in particular this part:
"Depending on the language iPod is set to use, the date and time format will change accordingly."
The default for English may be the American standard of month/day/year, rather than the European standard you were expecting.
Here is a post from someone with the same gripe:

  • IPod Classic Time format

I Have ipod classic 80 gb in time format i've chose 24 Hour format and it shows the time in 24 Hour format but when the screen turns off when it shows for ex the play sign and the hours it shows the hours in 12 hour format.
I hope you can understand and let me know how to fi it

It is not a problem in itself. It just speaks a lot about Apple's firmware quaility considering how old this issue is, how often it is mentioned, how obvious and how easily fixable it is.

  • TS1891 is there a way to invoke the disk scan mode on an ipod classic 80GB formatted on a PC?

I have tried to understand what the diagnostic information says under HDSmartData option, and apparantly there are:
    Reallocs: 392
    Pending: 40
So, I assume that 392 reallocs are bad. The 40, umm well, are about to be reallocated? What can I do to fiqure that out and to take action and fix the errors. My iPod is way out of warranty. This iPod classic is the one from 2007 by the way.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Andrew Joseph Poulain

I would, but swap the HD with a SSD, which besides lower power consumtion, dont gives HD problems like bad cluster, worn drive.
And I prefer the older iPods (I'm still using my flawless 80GB iPod 5th Gen Enhanced) and Original iPod Classic ( 6th Gen), which is showing some age, as the Realloc has creep up to 2650, but other numbers are low). I guess the newer hardisk are less durable.

  • Ipod Video (iPod Classic) data transfer to Ipod Touch?

I am very interested in purchases an iPod touch, but there is one thing I am curious about before I do. Now I've had my 30g iPod video since the day it came out and needless to say...it's chock full of pictures...songs...videos...most of which are no longer available to me (broken or lost CD/DVDs...lost pictures)...basically just a lot of data that is only on my iPod.
Now before I purchase the iPod touch, is there a way to directly transfer the data from my Classic iPod to the iPod touch? I am aware that there are programs that do this; I'm just wondering if there's an easy way or if it's even possible.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

This article at ilounge.com might help you...they're usually good with situations like this.
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/
I believe they cover both Mac and Windows perspectives of the problem. I wish you luck, I had to do this dance a few times on my old Mac before I finally got the drive space to keep my music on my computer and on my iPods at the same time!

  • How can I change the date format to International (Europe, Asia, etc)?

I am currently in Japan and would like to change my iPod's date format to an International format instead of the default American format. I have tried changing my mac's regional setting to Japan, UK, France and my iPod still displays the American date format. The interesting thing is that my mac correctly displays the date format in day-month-year format.
I would be most grateful for any suggestions offered as I would like to get my iPod to correctly display the date. I had to manually set the iPod to the 24 hour clock. I am reasonably comfortable using the command line in a terminal.

  • HT1320 how can i save me data stored on a non responding ipod classic and says you need to format before using it?

how can i save me data stored on a non responding ipod classic and says you need to format before using it?
in another way : how can i save my date stored on my classic iPOD as a external hard .... when that msgs appears .... volume doesn't contain a recognized file system , make sure the file system is loaded .... then , you need to format ??? can anyone help ?

It sounds like the iPod's storage has data corruption.  You may be able to treat it like an external drive and use data recovery software on it, but it probably won't work because the system is telling you that the drive needs to be formatted before it is recognized.
If the problem is data corruption and there is no hardware-related problem on the iPod's hard drive, a Restore should fix the problem.  But this will obviously erase the iPod's hard drive.

  • How to get data ipod classic to a computer

I had to format my PC in an emergency. And I had my photos in my computer and my ipod classic. When I formatted the PC I lost all my photos but I have it in this ipod. Could somebody help me to get these photos back into the computer. I have not connected it to the computer because it says it will sync and erase all the data in my ipod and I will lose my photos. I can't lose these photos. They are my precious memories

Whats the model of the blu ray player?
I'm assuming you would have to to buy a dock or AV cables that connects to ipod and correspond with the model of player.

  • PC with new Hard Drive now thinks my iPod Classic is Mac-Formatted.

My Hard Drive died on my PC, losing all of my iTunes songs. Fortunately, they were backed up on an external hard drive. When my hard drive got replaced on my PC, I downloaded the songs back onto the computer. I loaded up iTunes, which seems to have all of the songs on there. However, when I tried to sync my iPod Classic with iTunes, I get a message saying that:
"iTunes has detected a MacIntosh formatted iPod. You must restore this iPod before you can use it on Windows".
The songs on my iPod are more up to date than what was on my external hard drive, and I worry that restoring the iPod will make me lose everything on the iPod, plus everything that's on iTunes. Is there any way I can sync my iPod with iTunes without losing everything?

Restoring the iPod only wipes all the media from the iPod itself and resets all settings back to their defaults.
You can use a program such as XPlay to allow your Mac formatted iPod to work with your PC.
