Ipod classic doesn't shuffle correctly in car

I have an ipod jack installed in my car. When I first got it - the ipod shuffled perfectly. Then all of the sudden something changed. Now when I get in my car and hit shuffle my ipod shuffles the songs fine. BUT... if I turn off the car or unhook the ipod, when I start it again- instead of continuing to shuffle randomly (and continuing with the next track in the random shuffle) it finishes the last song I was listening to- but then goes on to the next song by that SAME ARTIST, and then continues to go thru my library in alphabetical order- finishing all songs by that artist and then moving on to the next artist in my library. (ie: if I am listening to the 8th shuffled song, which happens to be a Rolling Stones song when I turn the car off.... when I return it now says I am on track 752 and will then play the next rolling stones song in my library etc).
It almost seems that once i interrupt the ipod in the midst of shuffling it gets stuck on shuffling by artist- not by song. I have checked all my settings on my ipod and have even taken the car in to see if there was something wrong with the signal from the car hook up. Any thoughts???

Fixed it, wound up restoring the iPod through iTunes and everything came back to normal.

  • IPod Classic doesn't sync all music in my library

My iPod Classic doesn't sync all my music.  When I view my music files, the files that do not sync re not bold like the ones that sync correctly.  All files play on my computer.

The iPod can only Sync with one Library.
Your best option would be to add all the songs to one Library and then Sync with that.

  • HT1384 My iPod Classic doesn't appear to be charged. There is nothing on the screen. Has anyone else had this problem?

My week old iPod classic doesn't appear to be charged although it has been connected to my laptop. Nothing happens when I select the menu. I've followed the trouble shooting suggestions but nothing has changed. I've shut down my laptop and rebooted it. Still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks

How long did you leave the iPod to charge?  Have you tried doing a hard reset to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Ipod classic doesn't free memory even if I delete music so I cannot download any new content

ipod classic doesn't free memory even if I delete music so I cannot download any new content

When you connect the iPod to iTunes, in the summary page, what do you see in the Capacity bar?
How much is used for Audio, Others, video?
Most likely you have high usage of others, which maybe caused by incomplete sync Operation and the iPod need to be Restored.

  • My new iPod Classic doesn't 'wake' when my docking station switches on (alarm setting)

My new iPod Classic doesn't 'wake' when my docking station switches on (alarm setting).
My old iPod Classic never ever let me down, and I used it in the docking station every working day for two years.
But this new iPod Classic has let me down three times just this week!
    Any clues?

While the iPod is connected to your iTunes, look (in iTunes) on the Device/Podcasts pane (tab) and make sure the Sync Podcasts option has been selected (there should be a tick in the box).

  • IPod Classic Doesn't Charge in PC Port

This is my first post, so bear with me.
So, I'm at school, and a 4th grade teacher calls me down to her room. She said she had two broken iPods w/ chargers. She gave these to me, saying that I could keep one if I could fix them. She wasn't very good with technology, and I simply charged the iPods and they turned on and operated. Except for one. I can use the second iPod if it's plugged into the wall and stand for it, but If I plug it into my PC, it shows the Apple logo and quickly turns off. Both iPods are 1st Generation 40GB iPod Classics. It doesn't appear in the iTunes window, so I can't update/restore it. Any help?

...12V car charger is not working...
...Funny thing is it is charging with a 12V Parrot car kit with dock connector.
So the 12v Parrot car kit is different to the 12v car charger then? Or is one of these items actually the 24v charger you referred to earlier?
    A few points to note:
Any Apple charger should be okay. If the wall charger is non-Apple, make sure to check the rating.
Whatever the source, the output from the charger needs to be at least 500mA. This "output rating" should be writtten on the device somewhere, as 5v 500mA or similar. If the charger supplies only 300mA (a common rating) this will not charge an iPod Classic.
Car batteries supply 12 volts. So a car charger needs to change the 12 volts to 5 volts. Some old iPods could be charged with 12 volts and some (not so old) iPod models could be charged by either 12 or 5 volts. However, the voltage was supplied on a different "line" (or wire) into the iPod. So a charger that changes 12 volts to 5, but feeds the 5 volts on the 12 volt line, will not change an iPod. As far as I recall, no iPod Classic can be charged with 12 volts, all Classics use 5 volts. (See point 5 about the definition of a Classic.)
A 24 volt charger (to which you referred originally) would presumably be for a commercial vehicle. So a charger designed for 24 volt supply in, needs to step down (change the voltage) to 5 volts out.
Here's a major point: is your iPod actually a Classic, as defined by this article; http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 ? If it is not either an 80GB, 120GB or 160GB iPod, then it is not a Classic. In that case, check with the article to correctly identify your iPod.
If your car charger has a plug-in lead, with a plug that can be turned around to supply the same voltage, but with opposite polarity, then you need to check that the lead is connected the correct way.

  • Ipod classic doesn't charge from 24Volt

MyiPod classis A1238 doen't charge from 24 Volt and from wall charger. It does from USB connected to my iMac.
    What could be wrong?
All original cables. exchanging checked cables doesn't work either.

  • When using USB input iPod classic won't read in new car

Just bought a new car with a factory iPod ready stereo system. When using the USB input iPod Classic won't read but son's iPod touch does. Anyway I can fix this? I know my Classic works fine as I was using it in my other car and it works in my wife's car. Is the car just too new therefore making my Classic incompatible and soon to be obsolete?

the best option is to contact the car manufacturer or look at the manual to make sure it supports your ipod verision. if it is a custom radio then look then contact the manufacturer or look at the manual for same thing. you can try a reset with http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.

  • HT1384 iPod Classic doesn't function. At all.

    Hello there.
I am an Apple user from Brazil and I'm having problems with an iPod Classic 120GB. He simply doesn't load, nothing appears on the display, nothing happens if I tightening any button or if I do the procedures to restart it. I called Apple here in Brazil and they asked that I address to the authorized service center here where I live (Salvador, Bahia), but to my surprise, they do not repair appliances like mine, out of warranty. How and what should I do?
    Thanks, since now.

Sorry to hear that, there maybe water damage, if there is no sign of life after 30 minutes of charging, assuming that your USB cable is not defective. (try to use another cable and another PC).
To confirm water damage, look into the earphone jack port, and see if there is any reddisk mark.

  • My 160GB ipod classic doesn't sync properly because of silly accident - HELP pls!!

By accident my iPod classic got disconnected in the middle of the sync process. Ever since, it can sync onlt 1GB of my 50GB music collection. Now while it syncronizes, at times it stops and reads "connected". It freezes for a while and then the -69 error pops up and also and a dialog appears that my iPod cannot be accessed. Below is what the Diagnosys mode shows. Do you think it is too screwed up??
    Thank you!!

Yes have it replaced, You Realloc numbers are too high, it will keep increasing, as the Hardisk start and stop trying to locate some good sectors to write data.
Most likely your iPod  battery drained out fast too.
If it is under warranty, bring it in to APPLE store for a replacement.
    Have a nice day!

  • My ipod classic doesn't show up on windows or itunes, i have restored it quite a few times, it doesn't seen to make any difference

my ipod classic (new to me- ebay) does not show up on windows or in itunes, i've gone thru troubleshooting, can't really tell if i've successfully restored it or not, and can't seen to add it to my device mgr. I have tried rebooting computer, any ideas would be great

    Hello bithedz,
Have you had a chance to look at this Apple support document related to your issue? If not, it would be a good place to start.
[iPod not recognized in iTunes and Mac desktop|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410]
And if no luck there, try manually forcing your iPod into *Disk Mode* using the instructions provided in this Apple support document with your iPod connected to your Mac. This should help your iPod mount as an external drive at least on your system so that you can view it from a Finder window and perform a reformat on it if desired.
    [Putting iPod into Disk Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363]
And if you are able to finally get your iPod recognized by iTunes, I would definitely recommend performing a restore of it there.

  • Ipod Classic doesn't play video with Component cables

I just bought a new Ipod Classic and I have it connected to my Denon receiver using the Denon dock.  I am able to play music and movies from the ipod.  But when I try to play movies thru my small LG tv (Apple red, rellow white component cable) I only get audio and only if I have it in the white docking station.  Do I need to buy the composite cables to get the video?  I do get a message stating I need to plug into a video source.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Have tried to completely restore the iPod to factory settings and then resync the video?
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
Before you do that, try converting the video once more using iTunes' built in convert.  To do this, highlight the movie and chooose Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu.  When the conversion process is finished, sync the new version over to your iPod and see if that helps.
