IPod classic fails to sync some tracks from iTunes

I use an iPod Classic 160 GB with iTunes. Both are fully up to date. Every time I sync with iTunes roughly 500 of 5000 odd tracks fail to sync. This number fluctuates, but stays around the 500 mark. iTunes does not recognise this problem - it claims to have synced completely. It is only when I go through certain Albums I notice that some tracks are missing. It tends to affect the same artists, but different songs are missing within any given Album each time. (ie: a song may appear on the iPod one try, then be gone the next.)
All my tracks are either AAC audio file or MPEG audio file. The problem seems to affect them irrespective of kind.
There is plenty of space on the iPod, with over 100 GB free.
I have tried Retry, Reset, Restart, Reinstall, Restore - all multiple times, with no result. I have tried syncing auto and manually, and wiping both iTunes and iPod every way I can think of. Still, when I sync, the problem remains.
This problem is driving me crazy, especially since I can find no cause, and no applicable advice on forums. I have searched Help forums for answers, but everything that comes up either doesn't match or I have already tried with no result.
Please help.
If I need to give more detail for an accurate diagnosis please let me know.
I will be eternally greatful to anyone who can help.
Thank you, Jonny.

I'm also having the same issue.  I have recently had to get rid of my old PC that my ipod was synced to and so have now had to sync my ipod to my new laptop.  The problem started as soon as I did this - at first it was saying that my laptop wasn't authorised in the itunes store, but it is and I have reconfirmed this.  All of my music was copied across from old computer but there are around 2000 songs not syncing.  If anyone can help it would be hugely appreciated, it's driving me mad! One other thing is that I went to download all of my previous itunes purchases to this laptop but only 3 of them actually downloaded - I had separately copied them across from my old computer anyway but wanted to keep the list of my purchases - when I go into my account it thinks I have downloaded everything so won't let me do it again.  I'm assuming both problems relate in some way to the new machine, but I don't know why.

I have deleted some tracks from iTunes. However, when I sync my iPhone and iPad I get an error message for the tracks I have deleted. It is still trying to sync them.
How do I stop this happening?

Did you dlete it form iTunes and then sync?
Did you try swipingleft or right the song on the iPod and then tapping the delete button that comes up?

Not with your current user id.
Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

By the way, what does IOS mean? (I thought IO stood for operating system, but am flummoxed by the S on the end.
    Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

  • Can't sync some songs from itunes

I just got 10.4.11 on my imac and a new ipod nano using itunes 8.02. I can sync some tracks (manually) but with others I get the error message: "Not copied to ipod XXX's ipod because you are not authorized to play it on this computer." What does this mean?

    Hey there,
Did you try to reauthorize your computer? Deauthorize it and then reauthorize it if necessary. See if that helps.

  • IPod Classic failing to sync after a thousand or so songs

I'm on an HP, OS Windows Vista, 120 GB iPod Classic black. I have the windows clean-up thing that works when the computer starts.
My iPod works fine transferring songs, but after a 1000+ songs, it tells me that it cannot sync. I then restore, but then after I tried again, same problem happened. Help?

Mine was 2 years old and this same thing happened. I took it to the Apple store for a Genius to look at, they said the software was corrupted and to restore my iPod. I did and it worked.

  • 80GB iPod Classic refuses to sync on connection to iTunes 9

Since upgrading (HA!) to iTunes 9 my aged but still functional iPod Classic 80GB produces an error on every connection.
iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.
Have done the reconnect thing a dozen times and done three separate restorations. The iPod works fine. But iTunes 9 will not sync with it.
Not sure if this is a known problem, but it sure is annoying.
    Doc

Well, from what I've read, Apple is aware of the issue (and at this point, they'd better be). The big question is - how long before everyone with older iPods can start syncing them again? Since Apple does not sanction downgrading to an earlier version of iTunes (I had a post deleted that had a site with older versions available), we will just have to hope that Apple can fix this quickly.
I personally never upgrade to a new version until it proves to be relatively bug free (I am still using 8.1). If this is Apple's way of coercing people to upgrade their iPods, shame on them (I read one post that stated Apple support advised someone to purchase a new iPod).

  • I can't sync imported tracks from iTunes to iPhone5

Using iTunes 11, upgraded to iOS 7 on iPhone 5.  Yesterday I imported 11 mp3 tracks into iTunes from an audio file.  They appear in iTunes, but the do not sync to my phone.  The are not unchecked and I'm at a complete loss as to what could possibly be going on.

I have this issue too! However it only appeared yesterday.
I am a dance teacher and use my phone for all my class playlists. Earlier in the week I uploaded a couple of my Christmas class playlists fine, however last night I was unable to upload my list at all and ended up having to drag my laptop out with me in order to work!
I have tried turning both phone and laptop off, I have since loaded the lastest version of Ios 8.1.2 which doesn't appear to have done anything. And now I have seen a whole heap of issues in a similar vein encountered by other people.
I appreciate that I am using an old phone (iPhone 4s) but I had not changed anything prior to this issue appearing last night. I did encounter it briefly some months ago... and vaguely remember sorting it by checking the names of all the music styles that I wanted to have appear on my iPhone, but that seems a very long-winded way of ensuring that my playlists are updated.
Any tips would be much appreciated.

  • IPod 160GB does not sync all tracks in iTunes

I recently bought an iPod Classic (160GB). I had loaded about 8000 tracks for my 60GB iPod. I loaded another 1148 tracks and tried to sync my 160GB iPod. Out of 9148 tracks, it will only sync 8414 tracks. Why does it stop at 8414?

It's possible you have 20 duplicates, that is files with same track no, track name, album & artist. Either iTunes doesn't copy the duplicates or the duplicate effectively overwrites the original in the iPod's library. In contast iTunes can import different files with the same details and can even occasionaly end up with more than one entry for the same file.

  • How do I get my iPod classic 160GB to sync with the new iTunes 11.4 (64-bit)

None of the solutions I tried have worked:
         I reinstalled iTunes.
         I reauthorized my computer
         I restored my iPod
Each time I sync, it says that sync is complete, but no songs are on my iPod.
Since restoring my iPod, I get this error message when I attempt to eject it: "The iPod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
Please help! I miss my potable music.

    Hi YumaGal,
The easiest way to do what you are asking would be to restore the iPod nano's software, which erases all music and other content from the iPod. The process is described in this manual -
    https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/0/MA629/en_US/iPod_nano_4th_gen_UserGuide .pdf
See at the bottom of page 69 -
To update or restore iPod nano:
1  Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/ipod/start.
2  Connect iPod nano to your computer.
3  In iTunes, select iPod nano in the source list and click the Summary tab.
The Version section tells you whether iPod nano is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
4  Click Update to install the latest version of the software.
5  If necessary, click Restore to restore iPod nano to its original settings (this erases all data
from iPod nano). Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the restore process.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Sincerely,

  • New iPod Touch, won't sync purchased songs from iTunes library on new "authorized" laptop.

I must have missed a step.  My old windows laptop died.  Tried syncing iTunes library from old laptop to new iPod touch.  Didn't work.  Downloaded iTunes to new windows laptop.  Logged into iTunes from new laptop and Authorized new windows laptop.  Uploaded a few CDs into new laptop's iTunes library.  Old purchased songs appeared on new laptop, however only uploaded songs from CDs will sync to new iPod touch.

  • IPod loses everything after syncing and ejecting from iTunes 11.0.4

    hey there,
After updating my iTunes to 11.0.4, I have been having trouble with syncing songs into my iPod 160GB. At the start it would sync and everything was cool until i ejected my iPod and everything in my iPod was gone, I plugged it back into my iMac and iTunes said I had to restore my iPod, I did just that. Now each time I plug my iPod to my iMac and sync songs, it would say sync complete but after i ejected my iPod, there will be nothing in my iPod and I have to continuosly restore my iPod.
I have tried reseting the iPod itself and then do a restore through iTunes but the problem won't go away. Any help will be much appreciated
    Thanks

  • Can't delete some tracks from iTunes Library

I am having trouble deleting a few files from my iTunes Library. It won't let me even change any information on the track within iTunes. Not a locked file or anything. Please help!

Try swiping across the song - in the songs tab of the Music App - from right to left - to bring up the red delete button.
Note - this is done in the. Music app. Not iTunes.

  • IPod Classic fails to sync after adding new music

Hi, so lately I've been having problems with my 160GB classic, I've always had problems with it but its gotten to the point where I am frustrated beyond belief. SO the problem arises when I add new music, it comes up with the error 'XXXX's iPod cannot be written or read'' and before it displays this message the sync usually sticks on a song, a random song that I would've added. I restored it a few times, scanned and fixed it a few times and then when I noticed I started skipping songs, some in mid-song I restored it again and the problem repeats itself. Help would be appreciated

A few issues, but sorry let me try to understand.
Adding new music, 'XXXX's iPod cannot be written or read'' can you let me know the number. most likely music format is not iPod Compatible like HE-AAC.
started skipping songs  - these are normally due to corrupted ID3 tags, try converting them -File-> Advance -> IPOD version or use MP3 validator to fix all songs in the library. (My Apologies, only work for MP3 music that skipped)
As for item 2, you can try Hard Reset if you like to download MP3 validator.
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
