IPod Classic getting Video to go to TV

I have an iPod AV cable, although it predates the latest -- it has 3 prongs to go to the TV and one prong to go into the iPod or the dock port and then the usual iPod USB cable can go from the dock to the small powerbrick USB thing...so one would think it works, but what happens is that I do this and follow the instructions, set the Classic to enable TV out, then connect everything to my TV [an HDTV with front ports for this sort of thing, that works fine with my MBPro and cables] and I push the play button and it just goes back to the video list and then back to the enable window [which says it is ON] then back to the TVOutEnabled screen - then back to the video listing...In other words, it never gets around to playing the thing....any ideas on why I have this loop???

Well I went to the local Apple Store and talked to a Genius and he confirmed that my 'old' connector set wouldn't work but I bought the new one. Took it home and plugged it into my HDTV which, unfortunately, is rather large so not sure how the little iPod iTune download to Classic would work....while it's not crisp and clear [looks like I may 'need' an Apple TV, , It did show up fairly good and sound was fine. So I can at least watch on that screen....Thanks for the pointing me in the new direction....

  • Can't restore iPod classic 60GB video.  Cannot Allocate Memory - Disk Utility

Sorry if this has been asked before but I've been searching the boards and am yet to find a result.
I have an old iPod classic 60GB (video) which has a dodgy HDD.  It was clicking and in a constant sad face/charging loop.  I've managed to get it display "Please restore iPod" message and it is now being recognised by my macbook.  I've tried to restore it via iTunes but when I try that I get an error message tht says "The iPod could not be restores because it is busy".
I've tried toformat the iPod using Disk Utility too but i get an error:
Disk Erase failed with the error:
POSIX reports: The operation couldn’t be completed. Cannot allocate memory
The oddest thing is that under disk utility my iPod drive is showing up as a 2TB drive:
All I'm realy trying to do is restore the iPod so I can try to recover some of the tracks using Disk Drill.  Can anybody help?

See if you can find a window based PC and try to do a Restore there.

I have that exact same problem! It plays albums fine. But individual songs including ones downloaded from iTunes either skip or play the music of another totally different song. All play fine on iTunes and my iPhone... Got this one to replace my dying 5th gen classic.
I hope there is a fix for this, cause it *****!!!!

  • 6th Gen. iPod Classic has video or not?

I have a 6th Generation iPod Classic and I got it because I thought it has video capability, but when I try to download a video podcast, I get an error message telling me that 30 of the podcasts were "not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPod". The wierd part is that eight of the videos actually downloaded onto my iPod.  I know for a fact that there is plenty of space for 2 hours of video on my iPod.  What am I doing wrong or is there something I am not aware of?

Some podcasts are encoded so that they are more compatible with newer iOS Devices rather than the older iPod lineup including the iPod Classic.
If possible, try highlighting the podcasts and choosing Advanced -> Create iPod or iPhone version in iTunes.  Then try syncing the newly converted podcasts over to your iPod.

  • Just moved from a PC to a Macbook Pro and now my Ipod Classic gets stuck on iTunes "syncing" even though I have it set to manual. Please help!

Please help. I recently bought my first Mac (a Macbook Pro 15-in Mid 2012) and my iPod classic will not work properly when I plug it into my computer and open the newest version of iTunes. It played just fine on my old PC with iTunes 10. I have not updated the software on the iPod since I bought it a few years ago and even if I wanted to update it I couldn't becuse once I plug it in it gets stuck saying "syncing with iTunes." Well, I have it manually set so that I can add/delete whenever I want. So I don;t understand why it is giving me  this message and getting stuck. I've looked around the web and tried to install iTunes 10 but because I have the newest version already installed it will not let me replace it with 10.
Does anyone know how this can be resolved?
    Thanks.

Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.
    Good luck,

  • HT1386 How do I manually manage playlists on my iPod Nano? My iPod Classic get's a tab called 'On This iPod' in which I can manually manage playlists, my iPod Nano does not.

That is the option I get with my iPod Classic, from there I can manually edit my playlists as I chose.
However when I plug in my iPod Nano, I do not get that highlighted option. So how on earth do I manually delete or reorder songs on a nano playlist
(I manually manage the music on my nano, not auto sync)

You could just go to the top of the page and click the word ipod:
Apple Support Communities > iPod > iPod touch > Discussions
Then clcik the ipod nano forum
    Very simple

  • IPod Classic, component video, and 480i

I have a Sanyo 27" CRT TV with component video in, but it only supports 480i. My [Sony] DVD player and Nintendo Wii work perfectly via the component input.
I just tried connecting an iPod Classic to the TV with the Apple Component Video Cable. I have audio...but no video.
Is something wrong here? Is the iPod Classic pushing out a 480p signal? Is there a way to tell the iPod Classic that I want 480i?
    Thanks

  • Ipod classic 80gb video podcasts problem

i have a 80gb ipod classic and when i try to watch video podcasts on it, it will play for about 4 minutes and then either quit playing it or will restart the iPod all together. i have restored my ipod in itunes 7 & 8, and both did nothing to help this problem. does anyone have anything to say do tell me to do to help with this problem?

No, the iTunes Store doesn't make any podcasts (except maybe New Music Tuesday... or is that one gone again...?). But it could be an issue with the people who make the podcast.

  • IPod Classic 160gb Video sync problem

My iPod Classic will only sync certain video files, files around 2gb or smaller. I have Quite a few digital copies and I would like to be able to synch all of them at one point or another. I have a few video files that are around 4gb and when dragged to the sync que it drops into the device, starts to sync, syncs without transferring the video file, and says sync complete without error message.
I also have digital copies of Game of Thrones that I would like to load on to there but they do the same thing. I have tried in the general sync settings to allow the choose your files option as well as the general sync all options with no previal. Its like the iPod will not sync any of the television shows at all. not even a special feature episode.
I have iTunes version 11.1.4.62 with iPod system version 2.0.4 running on a windows 7 laptop. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your helpful comments.

  • How to make an ipod classic get off the apple boot logo when the menu an center button still don't work

i tryed to connect my ipod classic to my computer an every time i do it will start flikering an when i conected it to a wall plug it just get stuck on the boot logo it had the the red x but i fix that but now its just stuck on the boot logo i need my ipod please tell me what i need to do pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeee

The big Red X is a sign of iPod undertaker coming, so you only have temporary extension and put it in Comatose state.
Some laptops have only one high power USB 2.0 port, so if it flickers, try the others on your laptop.
However try the following, (bear with me if you have done all these.)
Toggle the hold switch, make sure you don't see the red marking.
Press Menu and Center butoons for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then release the buttons.
If the above solve the frozen Apple Logo, then do a Disk Diagnostics, read this earlier post from tt2.

Don't worry if yours is Windows, the process apply to the iPod and not the PC.

  • IPod Classic mp4 videos no longer copying to iPod

I've recently updated my iTunes which contains many mp4 files that I've always kept on my iPod. I connected my iPod to update the music I've added and the majority of my videos were deleted from my iPod, with a warning message saying that this device doesn't support these types of files. They are mp4 files that have worked on here before.
I've tried downgrading my iTunes because I assume that this is a problem on apple s end, but then my library isn't supported with older versions of iTunes.
I've also tried converting videos to a supposed iPod classic format (m4v 320 x 240) but that didn't work either.
I'm not sure if there is a solution, but if anyone else has experienced this problem and figured out how to solve it, I'd appreciate the help.
    Thanks!

hello Time Othy. i dont know what the problem is, but i have the same problem. All my videos will copy from i tunes on my i phone, but not on my i pod classic. maybe some one on here can help both of us...  phil..

  • Ipod Classic and Videos

I have successfully put on videos onto my Ipod Classic but I am wondering if I can delete those videos off my computer but still have them working when I want to add new videos and synching. I am worried that if I delete the video and try to resynch that it won't work? Thanks for the help.

generally, you are correct with your thoughts.
I have not tried the option to first sync as required and the untick the box from itunes when ipod connected.
Now, manual syncing (or not syncing your videos) will only work as long as you do not have new videos to sync.
could you, maybe, buy a second harddrive if you are worried about disk space. this would also be excellent as backup utility.
Other than that, I am afraid, I am not really sure if there is a solution to your issue.

  • HT1473 can the ipod classic get netflix

I was wondering it will let me put netflix app on it.

The iPod classic can't use iOS applications. Music and videos imported into iTunes can be synced to it but may need to be converted first.

  • Ipod Classic (80g) Videos not synching properly!

Ok so my ipod works great except when you try and have videos on it. I have all the converters and stuff and sometimes it works fine and they go on and are all there. However... Sometimes the videos cut off after a minute or so when i play them on my ipod. I thought it might be a converter issue but they play all way trough in itunes, so it's something to do wiht the synch process I'm guessing.
    any ideas?

This is how to sync videos
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304680
This is to make sure all of the video types are working on your ipod.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75424
Download each one of those videos and try to use the top article to sync them to your ipod.
If all of the videos work... its probably a problem with your converter.
make sure you are updating your ipod. Apple just released a new software version for classics when itunes 7.6 came out.
Also, restoring your ipod to factory settings by hitting that restore button in your summary screen may help wash out any glitches your ipod may have on it if the above info doesnt help you.
