Ipod Classic in disk mode does not show on desktop or finder
Ipod Classic in disk mode shows in Itunes but not on desktop or in finder? Can't add any files to it.
With the Finder as the front most application, choose Finder -> Preferences -> General and make sure there is a tick mark next to CDs, DVDs, and iPods, under the option Show these items on the desktop.
Any luck there?

I followed all the steps but it said that itouch was unable to connect to itunes because a passcode needs to be entered first, but I'm unable to enter the passcode because the itouch is disabled and all I see is the red message Ipod is disabled. How do I get pass this message to where I can access a keypad to enter code? thanks!

CD-R burned w/ Disk Utility does not show on desktop
I've been burning file-backup CD-RW's in the Finder, but decided to try creating a multi-session CD-R in Disk Utility. I was thinking that I would still be able to access the contents of the CD like I can with CD-RW's, but now that I've burned the CD, it won't show up on the desktop! (Yes, that option is checked in Finder Prefs.) It shows up in Disk Utility, and I tried to create a disk image of the CD to save on the desktop, but the "Image From (Select a Device)" option was grayed out even when I had the disk selected.
The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the disk wasn't the right format? Is this the kind of behavior I'd see if that were the case? Any other ideas?
I still have the files I burned to the CD on my hard drive, so it's not like I'll be losing anything major if I can't get this to work, just wasting a CD. But I sure would like to know what the problem is!Yep, that fixed it. Thanks so much! Funny how such a

Does the iPod appear on your desktop as an external hard drive? Has the iPod ever successfully connected before? Disconnect your iPod and reset it using the Select (Center) and Menu button combo. Then reboot your Mac, open iTunes, and reconnect your iPod to a high powered USB 2.0 port and see if it's recognized.
Have you worked through all the troubleshooting here?

I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still showing 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it backed up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that memory or to get it the music back, there is approximately over 1400 songs on it?
What is the memory being used by, is it Other? If it is, that means the iPod can no longer read the music, so it has put it all in "Other".
The usual fix for this is to allow the iPod to Sync with its iTunes Library. If that doesn't work, the next option is to Restore the iPod using the Restore command in iTunes, on the Device/Summary pane.
Unless you are very (very) lucky, I suspect that you are going to have to Restore your iPod. Restoring will remove everything form the iPod and put back onto it only what it finds in your iTunes Library, which you say is currently empty.
If you have to rebuild your Library after this issue, by adding all the music back again, this is going to be hard to hear, but for the future, you may want to consider always having a backup of your library. The easiset way to back the Library up is;
if the Library is small enough, burn it to a DVD, as digital files, not a "music CD".
If your Library is too large for a DVD, buy yourself an external hard drive and copy the Library onto the drive. Remember to update the backup every so often. -
Does anybody know why my ipod touch 3rd generations screen does not show anything? The screen is all black constantly. When I try to synchronise my ipod with my iTunes library it comes up with a message saying " iTunes could not back up the ipod because a session could not be started with the ipod. Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G. Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch? Is there a simple solution. Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.
Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

My relatively new ipod touch 16 gb either does not show up as a drive or everytime says it does not recognize my ipod when connected to add music. I didn't have problems loading music originally, but this is a new occurrence. Could you help?
Hey, Thanks a lot. It took quite a bit of time to resurrect this ipod. I tried the upgrade again, but still would not recognize my ipod. So I went to the next step and reset my ipod, wiping of all of the information like it was new. This helped my laptop see the ipod on itunes, but did not sync. So, I deleted the itunes off my computer completely, restarted and then reinstalled the newest itunes, and then restarted. Finally, it recognized my ipod and started to download each song. It took awhile as there was 602 songs, but finally it works. Yea!!! I never had any problem with my old nano, but this touch has been another animal for sure. Thank you again and also the community for information. This was a helpful forum and will recommend to others if they get stuck with their ipod or iphone. Take care, Karen

My Iphone does show as a device when connecteing wirelessly.
Its not a problem with the driver becasue the computer can see the devices, so its a problem in itunes.Hello mimward,

which mentions what I recall: that Airdrop (as implemented by Apple) would create an on-demand ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection, even if you were already connected to an access point. Normally, you can't connect to multiple Wi-Fi networks, thus the reason for Airdrop only supported on newer Wi-Fi chips.

Disk Utility does not show any result....

on my mid 2012 Mac Book Air the disk utility test does not show any result. The test just stops at some point and can be restarted again, but does not show weather the SSD is damaged or not.
Does anyone know what this means?
Thanks a lot for your advice!I think this happens to everyone (who uses "Live Verification") in Mavericks. Occasionally the output from the test shows correctly, but usually not. I guess this will get fixed someday.

For now, probably you will get best results from using command-r at startup to get into "recovery mode", then run disk utility from there.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
