IPod Classic + Mazda 3 integration unit + Random

I recently got an iPod Classic (120Gb). When I plug it into my Mazda 3 iPod integration unit and set it to random, the song that it plays doesn't match the song information that it displays. What the eff?

If anyone is looking to buy a kit for a mazda 3 I bought a P.I.E adapter and was looking to sell it because i bought something else instead.
I bought:
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=445
and
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1140.
It works wit iPods via the dock connector and iPhones and other mp3 players with the headphone connector. The only problem is that you will have to get an adapter for the iPhone headphone jack, seeing that it is not a standard size. If your interested in buying it or have more questions you can email me at j03613 at gmail dot com.

  • My iPod classic (160 gb) keeps pausing randomly in the middle of songs. What do I do to fix this?

So, I got my iPod classic about 5 months ago. Every once in a while, it will pause in the middle of a song. This usually happens soon after I lock or unlock it, and if I touch the wheel, but also happens if I let it play without touching it.
I've searched for solutions, but everyone says that their iPods keep pausing for a few seconds, then continue. When mine pauses by itself, it doesn't continue until I press the play button.
According to iTunes, my iPod is updated with the latest software. So, I reset my iPod (middle button and menu at the same time), but it didn't fix the problem. Then, with iTunes, I reset my iPod. Again, this didn't help.
It isn't because of my headphones because the same thing happened when I listened with different buds.
Does anyone know what I should do?

i to am having the same problem on my week old ipod classic did you manage to sort it out?? if so HELP please

  • How do I make my iPod classic work with iTunes 9.1

How do I make my iPod classic work with iTunes 9.1?

You are correct in some of your assertions, Limnos but, if I were to follow Apple's wishes, I would have to purchase the latest and greatest Apple product every month!  I refuse to do that.  I understand that my G4 is old but, it does what I need it to do.  To answer your question though, I purchased the iPod classic as a refurbished unit, about 5 years ago and had it replaced three times, since then so, there is no way for me to know how old it is.
From my knowledge of how the Classics work(which is extensive.)  It is basically a hard disk.  There should be of performing a low level format, plug it back in and the G4 should recognize the ROm and automatically search for the correct software associated with that version of iPod and load it but, Apple will most likely no longer carry the software on their servers anymore!(surprise, surprise.)

  • IPod Classic and Airplay

Do you know if it is expected a new ipod classic with airplay integrated?
    or
Does it exist any device which could add airplay feature to an ipod Classic?
ipod Classic is the only device designed specially for music and there isn't any way to use it with the new cable free generation loudspeakers.

I'm sorry but the iPod Classic can never have AirPlay because it does not have Wi-Fi.
That is correct, the iPod Classic does indeed need external hardware to play wirelessly.  Such as an iTrip.
You could plug the iPod Classic into a computer with iTunes and play the media to the AirPlay device using iTunes.  You may need to turn on "Manually Manage Music and Movies" to do this.

  • IPod Classic 120GB random crashes

    Hi,
I have a iPod Classic 120GB that for the past year has been randomly crashing in the middle of playing songs. For a long time it was once in a while but then it became daily and now I can't even listen to a complete song.
I've done several RESTORES and for the first 24hrs it seemed to fix the problem, but now it seems to be deteriorating. Any suggestions? Would it matter if the host sync computer is a PC or a Mac? Possible problem in the code of iTunes that when syncing would cause a problem? Could this be a sign that the HD is seriously deffective?
Any insight or tricks to fix the problem is appreciated.
    much thanks

My new 120gb classic survived a 7 hour bus ride on Saturday without crashing once, however I was watching videos for most of the trip.
Over the weekend away I was using my small sound dock and again, no crashes what so ever.
After picking up my car from the workshop (the reason for the trip away) I plugged the classic into my Alpine IDA-X100 stereo (first time using the USB cable on the X100, as opposed to the older style connector) and no crashes at all during a 6 hour drive home.
And yet - after an hour of using the classic in the office with just headphones I've just had a crash.
This confuses me further - if it was firmware I'd have thought I'd have had crashes when using the sound dock, or car as well.
Have any of you who are also having crashes/skips seen this behaviour?

  • IPod Classic Randomly Disconnects from Car Stereo

I have a 160GB iPod Classic that is hooked up to my car stereo. Previously it was connected to a 2012 Kia Sorento SX and it would just randomly disconnect from the stereo and freeze. The only way to get it back was to do a hard reset (menu/select button held down), then start playing a song, and then connecting to the stereo. It didn't happen frequently, but maybe once or twice a month.  Annoying.  But I thought it had to do with the way Kia implemented the connection to the iPpd.
I just recently acquired a 2014 Acura MDX and I've already had that same annoying problem twice in 2 days. So now I'm starting to think maybe it's the iPod.
In the past, I've done a full restore, repaired the drive, etc. Nothing seemed to help.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!!

Sometimes this works. Otherwise you will have to wait for an updte to the car system or the iOS on the iPod
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset the car system
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Ipod Classic Randomly Loses Tracks/Songs when sync with Itunes

My IPod Classic Randomly loses Songs from playlists. I can sync with iTunes and it will keep say 8 songs out of 10 in a playlist (sometimes all 10 if I’m lucky) but if you re sync it will have 7 or 9 different tracks in the playlist. Its Very annoying as my girlfriend uses it for teaching and songs are always missing.
I have tried updating IPod, re-installing ITunes and restoring IPod
Any Ideas??? Apart from buy a new one but from what I can guess seems like a software issue.
    Thanks

I was having the same problem.
I have an i pod classic 80GB (with the wheel) I think it's 5th generation
I would start a Sync, it would sync 2 or 3 songs then stop or hang up, which did not interfere with any other function, so I would not say it froze.
Once I ended the sync by clicking on the X next to the sync progress bar at the top of the window, I ejected the ipod and then plugged it in again.  Then  I selected my i pod under Devices in the menu on the left-hand side of iTunes.  Clicked on the summary tag.  Clicked on  "Manually manage music and videos" Clicked ok and apply.
When in manual mode, you cn drag songs from  iTunes to the device icon in the sidebar. Once I downloaded the song or songs or album that was causing the problem, I then unselected manual load, and everything else was able to sync normally on automatic mode.

  • 6G 80GB iPod Classic stops at random

    Greetings -
In the past month, my 3-year-old iPod Classic (6G, 80GB) has stopped playing at random.
It's in my pocket, I'm listening to a tune, and the player just stops. I click the Play button, and it resumes. It may stop again in a few seconds, or it may play a song or three. And then it'll stop again.
No rhyme or reason that I can detect.
This happens regardless of whether the Hold button is engaged, and I've verified that the hold button still works. And it happens whether the player is fully charged or running low.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks -- makes complete sense.
I can't begin to describe the abuse that the jack has taken over the past three years.
Well ... $250 over 3 years ... works out to under a quarter a day.
    Not too bad.
At least, for now, it still makes a useful music source plugged into the iPod dock in my receiver.
But for commuting, I have a Cowon iAudio on the way. It might have been an iPod nano, but the redesign made it impossible to use in the pocket -- too small & no tactile feedback. Progress? -- I think not.

  • HT3458 Do headphones with integrated remotes work with the iPod Classic models?

I've been looking into getting an iPod Classic, but I wanted to know if any generation of them supports the integrated-remote headphones. I've been getting conflicting answers from other forums, so I'm just trying to get a definitive answer.

Yes, any current iPod classic will use the volume control and track skipping features. The voice memo feature should also work with the integrated microphone in the remote.

  • IPod classic randomly syncing

When I connect my iPod classic to my computer and it starts syncing, i notice that it seems to be syncing apparently random songs from my music library, and an apparently random number of them too. For example, today I plugged in my iPod and it said it was going to sync 69 songs, and all of them were already on the iPod. Plus, I don't think the play count changed at all, not that that should matter at all. My iPod is set to sync according to the songs that are checkmarked. How can I get rid of this seemingly random syncing?

  • Ipod Classic occasionally skips during random songs

Hi people, hope you can help. I've tried searching for this problem in other threads but can't find my specific problem.
I got an Ipod Classic 120GB for Xmas. I have used iTunes to download music onto it. It plays ok for several tracks, then randomly it'll get partway through a track and suddenly skip to the next one. Where my problem appears to be different,is that it's not the same songs, the next time the track that skipped will play properly! I've reset the Ipod, re loaded everything using either computer in the household, and the problem still exists.
We took it back to Curry's. It was left with them to listen to, when we went back they agreed it was doing this. As it was over the 28 day period they sent it back to Apple. They have now returned it to me saying their tests did not find anything wrong, but they have put the latest software on it.
We brought it home, and you guessed it, exactly the same problem.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Different people have different issues.
    1. Some people have songs that "skip" but the song keeps playing -- there's just a gap or pause in the song.
    2. Some people have songs that end abruptly but another attempt to play the song works fine.
    3. Then there's my problem, in which the song ends abruptly before it's supposed to and it does it every time.
I don't know about 1 or 2, but I believe I've figured out what's going on with problem no. 3 and how to fix the broken songs. Read on.
During a mass transfer/sync of songs, iTunes "infects" about 5% of my songs with gaps in the data. The tags embedded in the file tell the iPod that Song X lasts x:xx, but when it reaches that glitch iTunes put in the data stream, the song suddenly ends and the next one begins playing (or the end-of-playlist menu comes up of it was the last song in the list). If I go back to the beginning of the a broken song, it will end at the same point. If I press the select button and scrub past the point where the song suddenly cuts off (about 30 or more seconds past the break), it will play the remainder of the song, so that data does exist on the hard drive. Also, the songs play perfectly FROM MY HARD DRIVE using iTunes or QuickTime. But the clone iTunes put on the iPod has some genetic drift, as any attempt to play that file from the IPOD's hard drive (via manually managing music and using iTunes to play the song) will result in the same abrupt end as experienced when playing through the iPod.
The fix is to delete the faulty file from the iPod and have iTunes put a fresh copy on. THERE IS NO QUICK, EASY SOLUTION. Identify the songs which end early on the iPod and uncheck them (You can't manually manage music, and you have to sync only checked songs and videos). Then sync the iPod. Then check the songs again and sync the iPod again. iTunes will put those songs back on the iPod.
Actually, it's fairly quick to fix the broken songs, but identifying the broken songs is time-consuming. I last had iTunes transfer my entire library (14.2 GB) on 4/6/2009, and I'm still going through to identify the songs iTunes failed to transfer properly. I'll need about another month.
I've reported this problem to Apple. [I recommend you do the same|http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html].

  • 120 gig refurb ipod classic - random restarts

i got a refurbed ipod classic about a month ago and it's been randomly restarting for the last two weeks now.
it also will randomly skip songs, which seems to be a problem a lot of people have.
i at first synced the ipod with my computer, but turned that off, restored the ipod, and manually added my library. it is still randomly restarting on me (mostly while listening to audio books, podcasts, or after i disconnect the ipod from my computer).
    it's pretty annoying.
the hard drive seems to click pretty loud when it restarts as well... should i just bring it back to an apple store and get a new one?

If your iPod simply won't play some songs and is fine with others, that (for me) usually means the ID3 tags in the files themselves are corrupt. In iTunes, right-click (or click and hold on a mac) and select "Convert ID3 tags". If I know the song info (title, artist, album, track numbers, etc.) I'll usually take it all the way down to v1.0, then view details and enter any information that might not have been carried over from the conversion. After that, both iTunes and my iPod play the affected songs just fine.

  • IPod Classic random restarts

I bought a 120GB iPod Classic just over a year ago (Apr 2009). While playing, it would randomly reboot/restart. Sometimes it would work for hours, sometimes it would restart every few minutes. After living with this for months, I went to the local Apple Store, did the Genius Bar thing, and they gave me a new iPod.
The new one does the exact same thing.
Am I facing a known, "gotta live with it" issue with these iPods? I rely on the iPod in my car for long drives. I almost through it out the window last weekend when it kept restarting while I was listening to an audio book on a 4 hour drive.
And yes, I did all the recommended steps - restart, reload, reinstall, etc, etc, etc. Multiple times.
    Thanks
    Jim

  • IPod Classic Crashes randomly with ntdll.dll error

Sometimes when I plug-in my 120GB iPod Classic, iTunes would crash, giving me a ntdll.dll error, and I would need to unplug my iPod classic before it would allow iTunes to start again. Upon disconnect, the iPod will try to restart and then it would unsuccessfully do so, and then it would reboot and tell me to restore via iTunes. After I plug it back in, the iPod would restore fine. It seems that if I don't sync my iPod for a couple of days, the possibility of this error happening is most likely, versus if I plugged it in consistently every day.
I have had this issue for quite a while here are the steps that I've taken to try to mediate this issue:
-Switched iPod twice with Apple Store
-Tried the sync on two different computers with completely different hardware (but windows 7 on both)
    -Made a new iTunes library
    -Search the support forums/google
    -Tried various cables
Here is the error logs from the most recent crash:

OK So I sync'd it this afternoon and in the evening, I plugged it in again, and this time it caused iTunes to crash with this error:

  • IPod classic randomly restored on its own and now wont connect to itunes..

    Hey guys
So last week i sync'd my iPod Classic 80gb and everything worked fine.
I've been away for the week and have used my iPod in a couple of different speakers/car transmitters/playstation etc and they have all worked fine.
Then when I got home today, the ipod says 'connected' but doesnt come up in itunes.
However, it does come up in my computer as 'steff's ipod' and shows that there is space being used on the ipod, even though it comes up as blank when i use it.
After I unplugged this it froze and once i got it back unfrozen, everything appears to be gone.
Now whenever i plug it in nothing comes up in itunes even though it says 'connected' however when i unplug it, an error then comes up in itunes saying it cannot sync with the ipod.
The first time i plugged it in it did come up with an error saying it was corrupt.
I've tried installing windows 7 updates, and uninstalling and reinstalling itunes but now itunes just freezees once the ipod is connected to the computer.
Now something similar happened to me a while ago and ended up killing my ipod, I had to go back to Apple and they offered me a refurbished one.
However that time it didnt restore on it's own, something just went wrong and it couldnt sync, but it started with the 'corrupt ipod' message so im thinking its something with my computer that's causing this (the guy at the Apple store did say that my PC caused the problem but i dont know how!)
Any assistance would be great, I don't really feel like spending another 200 dollars on a third ipod.
    Thanks!

update- now it will come up in itunes and says it detects an ipod in recovery mode and to restore it.
I do this and it says the ipod will reset and come back up in itunes when it is done, however it never comes back up and either itunes ends up freezing or the ipod does.
then after i reset the computer it goes around in circles and does all of this again
