Ipod Classic+mini Cooper

I have a new ipod classic that doesn't connect to the mini cooper interface. My older nano worked fine. Ideas?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I'm not familiar with the mini Cooper interface, but it could be that there are some compatibility issues with the new iPod.
You could try resetting the iPod while it's connected...
Reset iPod
Also, make sure that all of the software on the iPod is up-to-date via iTunes (make sure it says that software is updated). If there had been an issue, it may have been fixed with a recent update.

  • Ipod And Mini Cooper

I have a brand new 5.5 Generation Ipod Video, and a 2006 mini cooper with the factory installed ipod adaptor. When I plug the adaptor into the ipod (it's a regular dock connector), they recognize each other at first, but after one or two songs, I am no longer able to switch tracks or playlists. It seems like the ipod freezes up. Then when I go to remove the ipod from the adaptor, the screen is stuck on the "ok to disconnect" screen that shows when the ipod is connected. I'm forced to reset the ipod every time I take it out of the car. Any ideas why the ipod and the adaptor don't seem to be working? Everything is fine for one or two songs, and then something happens and it gets stuck. The ipod came with firmware 1.2, and I have itunes 7.0.1 on my computer. The mini dealership advised me to contact apple, they say it's not the adaptor causing the problem. Help!

Here's an idea, but you may not like it. I have had success in "down-dating" my iPod to software verion 1.1. Every time I've updated my iPod to any software version after 1.1, I too lose functionality of the iPod with my Mini's controls after two or three songs.
Sure, you're working on older iPod software, but the audio quality doesn't change. If you have games and other things on your iPod 5G that requires the latest software, you'll have to tolerate your un-functioning iPod in your Mini. But otherwise, "down-date" your iPod software to 1.1 and it'll be fine. You can find that software at this link: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodupdater20060110.html
    Good luck!

  • Can I use iPod classic on latest itunes?

buying a new laptop, wanted to ask if the ipod classic (mine is from 2010) syncs ok with the latest Windows version of iTunes?
I've been using an old desktop to sync my itunes, really old itunes, as my last laptop had a small hard drive capacity, going to transfer my library to my new computer.
Can I create folders on itunes and sync them to the classic or do I have to keep the traditional playlist method (Just a long list of playlists)?

    1. Yes, it does.

  • Ipod connector for Mini Cooper

This week I took delivery of my very first Mini Cooper which I'm very excited about (). I have an aux cable so can listen to my iPod Classic in the car however I can't use the controls on my steering wheel to change the tracks nor are the songs showing on the display. I've read that I need a Y Cable connector (I think!) but not sure which is the one I need? (the car is a 2014 plate)
    Would appreciate any advice!
    Thanks

Presumably, the AUX cable plugs into your headphone socket on the iPod. If so, that method cannot charge the iPod or be controlled from the steering wheel.
Your car's stereo will need a cable that plugs into the 30-pin Dock connector on the iPod and goes into an input on the car that is designed for that sort of connection. From there, the car's stereo should be able to control the iPod and charge it. Note my use of the word "should". The AUX socket of a car's stereo will not work.
I recommend that you talk to the supplier of the car.

  • I found an old iPod classic of mine.  It's not synced to my new MacBook Pro.  How can I get the music and photos off of it and on to my new computer?  When I plug it in to my new computer it wants to erase what is on it and transfer from my new computer.

I found an old iPod classic of mine that is synced to a computer that is long gone.  I want to get the music and photos from this old iPod onto my new computer.  Every time I hook the iPod up to my new computer it wants to delete what is on the iPod and replace with the contents of the iTunes that is currently on the new computer.  I don't want to do that.  I want to keep what is on the old iPod and transfer it to iTunes.  Any help?  Thanks!

See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • New ipod classic...been able to use it for 10 min on itunes

I just got my ipod classic 3 days ago and i've only been able to use it for about 10 mins on itunes since i bought it. At first it ran ok and i put music then some films and lastly photos onto it at which point i lost the movies that i put on it and lost my connection to itunes, and haven't been able to mount/dock it again since except for brief seconds after its been plugged in for a while it suddenly recognizes it and says its corrupt and needs to be restored, which i do, only to have a look at the ipod an hour later to find nothing has been deleted from all of the 2gb being used onit and its disappeared from itunes but i still have 'restoring ipod' on screen doing nothing!!! I've tried numerous other ipod recognizing programs to try and recognize it with no luck. The only place i can see it is in device manager as 'Apple iPod USB Device' in 'disk drive', as a 'unknown device' in 'other devices', as a 'cd-rom device' in 'DVD/CD-ROM drives' and as 'Apple iPod USB Driver' in 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'. I can't do anything to the unknown device or cd-rom device but have uninstalled the USB drivers and reinstalled them (uninstalling/disabling the 'disk drive' USB driver ejects the ipod so i can disconnect) , reset ipod, tried disk mode, tried every port on my computer, all drivers are up to date, changed disk drive letters, reset internet explorer security and god knows what else. If anyone has anymore ideas please let me know or Apple are gonna get their ipod back....

I took my iPod back next day and the guy in the shop plugged it into a xp machine and it came straight up on iTunes. So i had no argument for taking it back as it clearly worked and was probaly vista messing it up so i've now gone back to xp (which just looks crap, btw) just to get it working! Its been a nightmare to get it working (3 nights google searching, looking on many many forums, about 50 restarts, 5 system restores, 6 hours making dvd disc back ups of files on harddrive and finally a total restore back to factory settings, (thank god for hp recovery)) And now its working i'm sticking with xp.

  • In Car iPod Classic 160 cutting out after about 2 mins

I have a Kenwood KDC6537u car headunit with the KCA iP200 cable and an iPod classic 160gb. Everything seems fine and runs well for about 2 mins when I get a 'iPod Err' display. The display on the iPod goes back from the 'Kenwood' screen to the normal iPod screen. Switching the unit off and on restarts the iPod only to stop again after another two minutes or so. Is there something that I need to reset on the iPod to stop this. I've upgraded the headunit to the latest available from kenwood so I'm now stuck.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Further to the description I have done two journeys where this didn't happen and all was well. This makes for even more frustration. Kenwood can't offer anything other than to reset the iPod which didn't work. They also suggest there may be a fault in part of the 'chain' of bits but I don't have the capability to check - I only have one of each bit so can't compare.
    Anyone have any suggestions? Please?

  • ITunes 9.1 on early 2009 mini w/160gb ipod classic can't sync

Having all kinds of problems syncing from iTunes to the iPod. At first I was getting the error saying it couldn't read or write to the iPod. Now it's saying unknown error (-50).
Went to Apple store yesterday. Guy there said Their solution? Delete itunes and download and reinstall. So I did. No change in problem. Now they want me to bring my ipod AND my mac into the store (at least it's a mini).
This is ridiculous and utterly unacceptable! Especially if this turns out to be the result of Apple's screwing with Palm as was suggested on another thread.
I'm going to try an old version of iTunes, I found 8.2 for mac and will see if that fixes things.

Have wasted untold hours since Friday on this. Am totally disgusted right now!
Have been trying to sync my itunes library with my ipod. Hasn't been synced for a while so there are a lot of things to update. That failed, so I restored to original (downloading and updating the firmware, wiping the ipod to factory and starting over) and it still failed.
Have moved files from the external hard drive to the internal hard drive (this is a mac mini). Still fails.
Tried a powered USB hub - still fails.
Tried manually copying files to the ipod - still fails, though because it's manual I am able to more easily control what gets copied, when, etc. and recovering a little less painful, but it's all manual at that point, and it still regularly times out with errors.
Tried iTunes 8.2 - still fails.
Yesterday I visited the Apple store and the guy said my ipod classic was pristine, and not making any abnormal noises or indicating any other signs of problems. He said to drag the iTunes app to the trash and download and reinstall iTunes. Still fails.
He said the only thing left would be to bring my Mac in and make another appointment. So after spending the entire morning trying to get this to work I finally begrudgingly make an appointment for when I thought I'd be able to come in. And then started a backup (clone) of my drive (just to be safe!). As it grew time to leave, the backup was still running, so I rescheduled the appointment.
The backup was STILL going, so I rescheduled again. And of course it was STILL going, so I tried yet again! The concierge page said 2:20, 2:40, 2:50, (4-6 times in the afternoon and 9 in the evening, for iPod visits) were available. I selected what I thought was reasonable (about an hour 20 minutes later - because now I had to come up with lunch for my daughter, I had planned on stopping on the way in to the store) and was told I was not allowed to have any more times today.
No worries, I figured I'd call the store directly. After sitting on hold for who knows how long (no big deal, at least it told me how long I was in the queue and that was tolerable) the guy says there's no more times available today, they are all booked up. SO - they are all booked up? 13+ appointments all went poof in less than 10 minutes? On a Sunday? Really? I mean, maybe they did, but it sure seems odd given what I was seeing throughout the day.
All because the backup was taking longer than normal, no doubt because of all the futzing around I did trying to get things to work. Normally the backup takes about 45 minutes - it's been going 90 minutes now and is still going. And just so I could bring the computer in with the iPod so they could see "Yup, it's not working!" I don't know what I expected - I seriously doubt they could do anything I've not already tried.
There are only two possible issues that I have not been able to isolate - the mac mini itself or the cable I'm using. That's why I was even willing to go through all this hassle and go to the store.
Fortunately 90%+ of my library are MP3s and not AAC, so I'm not locked in (Amazon has some great specials on MP3 albums) - and to think, I had been planning on getting a 64gb ipod touch. Not any more!

  • Mp3s play in iTunes and on iPod mini but not on iPod classic

Some of the mp3s in my iTunes library will not play on my new 160G iPod classic. I paid for and downloaded the mp3s from the internet (not p2p), most of wich are CBR (192Kbps), but the occasional album is VBR. All of the mp3s play fine in windows media player, iTunes and on my old iPod mini. When I go to play them on my iPod classic, the tracks just skip. It seems strange that the files play on an older model of ipod.
I have searched though these forums, and have seen people having similar trouble, but have yet to come across a solution.

Yes, I have this problem as well. I have synced and re-synced an entire library three times now (which is not easy when you have almost 10k tracks to upload) and the same issue occurs on some tracks, but not others. I can't really see a commonality amongst the files to figure out why the ipod won't play the songs. They play fine on Itunes and when the unit itself is hooked up to my computer, but not if you are just listening to it from the Ipod. Strange...hope somebody can answer this question soon...the problem is really irritating.

  • How ca i add short videos of about 1 min in my ipod classic?

how ca i add short videos of about 1 min in my ipod classic? tried adding by itunes but itunes doesnt add it either in the play list

The movies need to be in the *.mp4, *.m4v, or *.mov format.  If it isn't, you'll need the assistance of some sort of third party software to convert it to one of these formats.  Two excellent choices for doing such a task are MPEG Streamclip and Handbrake.

  • How do I get my iPod classic 160GB to upload my music to iTunes in my new Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5?

How do I get my iPod classic 160GB to upload my music to iTunes in my new Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5?

That would be via home sharing.
Make sure  it's enabled in iTunes (file - home sharing) and Apple TV (settings - computers)
You would then access on Apple TV using the computer icon. Your computer would need to be on and running itunes

Do not dis/connect iPod with the radio on!
I reconnected the iPod with the radio off and then turned radio on. iPod still wouldn't work for me, but the Genius at the Apple Store was able to get it going. He restored the software and advised me to charge it. Now it's working fine. Yea!

I just got a new 80gb ipod classic for christmas yesterday. THe do not dissconnect stays on continuously and seems to have many problems now. Also before this happened it began acting slower and my computer told me a restore wasn eeded AFter i did the restore my brand new ipod now looks like an old one! How do I fix this!?!?!?!?
    -extremely frusterated.

If your iPod is recognized in "my computer", changing the drive letter can sometimes resolve this "can't mount iPod" issue.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.
