IPod classic podcast download problem

How can I redownload my podcasts which disappeared the last time I synced my iPod Classic 160gb?

I think i fixed the problem something i didn't want to do, but i tried unchecking each artist and removing them from the ipod and check them back and put them back on the ipod i also reset my ipod but none of that still didn't work so i decided to restore my ipod something i didn't want to do because i have so much music and put everything back on my ipod and that seem to work so just have to see how long it stay like that before the artwork get screwed up again which i hope not.
so if anyone else is having the same problem with the artwork messed up on your ipod just restore your ipod, it worked for me.

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

  • Brand new Ipod Classic 80Gb - Synching Problems - Ipod ejecting itself

Bought a new 80Gb Ipod last week after my old one crapped out. Computer also crapped out so had to load all my CD's to another laptop on newly downloaded Itunes 7.5. Hooked the new ipod up to the laptop and immediately had problems with the Ipod 'ejecting' itself before any songs were loaded. Furthest I managed to get was name the darn thing before it ejected. So, tried the 5R's with no success - still kept on 'ejecting' - sometimes straight away, sometimes part of the way through synching the library always with the end result of no songs on the ipod. Tried updating windows, updating Itunes, restarting computer, using different cables, different USB ports (all 2.0) with no success. Took the Ipod to the Apple Genius Bar where they restored it and managed to successfully synch a few tracks. Thinking the problem was solved - took it home and it is doing exactly the same thing again. AAAARRRRGGGHHH. Trawled the forum boards all day yesterday found a few suggestions I hadn't tried - setting it to enable disk use etc etc. When I hooked the ipod up last night it was ejecting immediately after connecting so not even giving me a chance to try the new fixes. Plugged it in this morning for a last ditch attempt and it connected long enough for me to switch on the manual synching and I successfully loaded 32 songs out of 4000 (yippee!!) before it started the same carry on again - disconnecting itself..
This is so frustrating - what has happened to the ipod??? I had no trouble at all with my old one. A new piece of kit such as this should not be so time consuming and stressful. After this experience there is no way I will buy another ipod.
    Has anyone got any suggestions?

I had over two weeks of frustration getting the right collection of fixes installed (iTunes 7.5 and 1.0.2 on the iPod; 1.0.3 should be OK). My symptom was that iTunes starts to go spacey on me when I plug the iPod classic into the USb port. There are long delays that I can't find a good cause for.
Start up iTunes on your PC.
Before you connect the iPod to your PC, try putting the iPod into Disk Mode (don't know the article info but there is one on this site; just search for "Disk Mode". There will be a check mark on the iPod screen when you have successfully arrived there.) Then plug it into the USB port on your PC.
It may take several seconds/minutes for the iPod to be recognized in iTunes (I get some help with this by clicking on the Windows Start button, which overlays part of the iTunes screen, and waiting for iTunes to refresh its screen.)
Before you click the Sync button, be sure you have chosen all the tabs you want to sync; since my music library is over 40GB, I choose this one first and let iTunes copy over my whole music library. I also check the Enable Disk Use box on the Summary screen. I then go out for coffee or to the bathroom (it takes a while).
Once everything is copied over, be sure to press the Eject button in iTunes to be sure it is releasing the iPod.(Try my Windows Start button trick above to get positive feedback when it is safe to disconnect.) When it disappears from the list on the left-hand side and the screen is refreshed, it is safe to disconnect the iPod. (I'm not sure this is absolutely necessary, but it works for me.)
It can be a little dicey to get the iPod out of Disk Mode or even to just turn off the iPod, but keep trying and you should be able to get it back into normal mode with all your music, video, podcasts and photos (haven't tried Contacts or Games) playable.

  • ITunes 11 Podcasts downloading problem

I subscribe severall podcasts. There's one of them, I don't know why, at the office downloads very slowly. To get it to download quickly, I am always pausing and resming the download.
In iTunes 11 when I pause when resuming the status bar comes a little bit back (eg. when pause there's 660 kb's downloaded, when resuming it goes to 500 Kb's)!
The other strange thing is that it dowloads more than the size of the podcast file!
When listening This, it is always coming back and forward.
Does anyone have the same problem?
Please try to pause and resume a podcast download an see what happens.
    Thanks,
    Jorge

Similar problem with iTunes 11.0.1.12 on win7. The crash seems to occur during the "file processing" part of downloading. I've tried removing the download file from the iTunes folder - it doesn't help.  Really frustrating problem. It doesn't generate any error message beyond itunes need to stop and searching for a solution (the "solution" to update iTunes is the PROBLEM - not a solution).
I've installed VLC to play the files but it isn't iTunes and it won't sync with my ipod so... Apple people - - can't you do some simple software??? Do you really have to head towards bankruptcy again????
Geesh the Google maps flap was bad enough!

  • Ipod classic 120GB sync problems

Whenever I try to sync my new iPod Classic 120GB with iTunes 8.1, it shows that it is transferring all the tracks, but when it is done, only a handful are transferred to the iPod. No error messages pop up, but when I sync it with an older version of iTunes, it seems to work just fine. The firmware on the iPod is already up-to-date and I've even done a restore, what can possibly be wrong which is causing the sync problems with iTune 8.1?

I have got the same problem, everything up-to-date. iTunes has about 80 gB of music, but synchronisation results in only 30 gB of music on my iPod. Apple's helpdesk first advised to reset the iPod: that meant another 24 hours of downloading, but the final result was even worse than the first time. Then they tried to convince me that my iTunes tracks perhaps were corrupt. But manually I can download every album. Finally they recommended to use manual synchronisation, that in fact means that the automatic sync option is no longer available! I cannot understand that Apple support is not aware of the problem and cannot properly fix it. Also after first contact by telephone there seems to be no possibility to complain by e-mail about the recommended "solution."

  • Ipod Classic 5th Generation problem

i have a ipod classic 5th generation connected it to my macbook pro retina display and it doesn't come up on itunes but it does charge?

    Same deal here, recent problem.
Concurrent with new issues where it will no longer play video podcasts.
I suspect an update hindered stability.

  • ITunes to iPod (5th Gen) download problems

Problem encoutered: "Attempting to copy disk to iPod failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
This is the messaged I've received in trying to download my current iTunes library to my new 5th Gen iPod.
I have found it I remove the last song that iTunes attempted to download to the iPod; the the downloading continues. BUT, it occured again with another totally different song.
What is going on here? Has this occured with any one else?
Lastly, I did call Apple. We did a restore and downloaded the lastest iPod software.

I posted this in another forum.
This may pertain to you as well.
"ALL RIGHT EVERYONE! Anyone who has problems with their iPod freezing while syncing Listen Up.
I have successfully figured out what needs to be done in order to get your iPod syncing properly.
What you will need for this it another hard drive or computer (running OS X)
You can either set a hard drive (like one of the previous iPods with OS X installed on it) as the startup disk in System Preferences.
    OR
There's another option for you if you have another Mac..
What you'll need to do is start the one you need to repair (that you sync your Pod from) in "target disk mode" which is done by restarting the computer and holding the "T" button.
This puts your computer into Firewire mode, and makes your computer an external hard drive for another computer to view.
You will also need a 6pin-6pin Firewire cord - to connect the 2 computers.
Once you have the main computer up as a disk image on your other desktop, open disk utility and click the Repair disk option.
I did this and it said the drive could not be repaired, and I ran it again and it fixed it the second time, so that might happen to you too.
I know this seems like a lot to do to get your computer working with your iPod, but it definitely works.
If you don't have another computer, and (as most of you seem to) have a portable like a powerbook or an ibook, just bring it to an apple store and I'm sure they'll gladly help."
Let me know if you have any questions....
    Good Luck!

  • Unusual? iPod Classic connection/sync problem

I have an 80Gb iPod Classic, and iTunes 8.1 running on Windows XP.
With iTunes open, I connect the iPod.
    The iPod screen says connecting...synchronising...
Then the iPod appears in the iTunes device list, and the iPod says ejecting...ok to disconnect.
I am left with iTunes open, and thinking it is connected to the iPod, and an iPod which is disconnected from it's iTunes Library.
If I try the sync button on iTunes it say synchronising for a little while, but doesn't update any files.
The upshot is that I can no longer add or remove anything from the iPod. Although all the original data is still there, and the iPod plays fine.
I have tried rebooting the PC, restarting the iPod, re-installing iTunes, and restoring the iPod factory settings, but I still have the same problem.
    Please help!

if you get a solution to this problem, I have identical troubles on my hp running vista and outlook 07 on both my classic 80 gig and nano 16gig

  • Ipod classic 160 sync problem

So a couple of days ago my iPod classic was operating erratically and I read a few posts and decided to do a restore. After a long time trying I managed to get it to do a full reformat. I haven't been able to get it to sync since. I have tried what seems every  suggestion on here. I can see it in device manager no problem, it says that its connected on the iPod itself, It does show up in iTunes if I remove and plug it back in but only for a split second (it looks like a small window appears below the icon) and then it disappears again. If I perform a DFU restore it goes through restoring the device through iTunes again (so it is possible it can be recognized) but when it gets to the point where it tells me it will sync upon reboot - the icon for the iPod flashes up in iTunes, and then disappears again as above. I have also tried to do the HDsmart data and this works, details as below:
    Retracts:18
    Reallocs:0
    Pending sectors:0
    Poweron hours : 167
    Start/stops: 69680
    Temp current : 31°C
    Temp min: 53°C
    temp max: 248°C
I know the max is high but I think its a bum reading. It was operating mostly fine before apart from having to reboot using the Menu/select button every week or so...
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for the info, with formatting my iPod I managed to connect it to iTunes again.
However..in the page you linked to there is a section about how transferring large amounts of data can dump your library. That seems to be the problem in this case. It won't even allow me to transfer more than 2 gigabytes of music per sync, if I go higher it will dump everything again. Having over >60 GB of music in my library, this is disastrous to say the least.
Do you think that there is any other solution besides the method you mentioned involving Smart Playlists?

  • IPod Classic having massive problems (Not able to connect, Music gone, Etc)

First of all I bought my iPod classic little over 6-7 months ago.
1.About three months in my iPod started to erase my music... So I reset it, didn't work, and restored it to the factory setting.
Now Starting 3 weeks ago, it started to have this massive problems, The musics disappeared even though I disconnected it. So I restored it..AGAIN, but it still does it with new musics.
    2. Now it will not even connect itself to the computer anymore. I've erased the iTunes, Reset the iPod, Restored it, but it will work when it feels like it (I've also tried my friends iPod...Wire...Connector.)

Hi, I have not made back up. So I will be loosing all data and apps and music. Do you know any other way to overcome and save all the music and apps in my ipod? My ipod s working fine only problem is I can sync it to itunes it says-"itunes cannot read the contents of the ipod " Go to the Summary tab in ipod preference and click Restore to restore this ipod to factory settings". It is the same error message. Is there any alternate ways to save my music photos and apps ?

  • Ipod classic podcast

I have an iPod classic. Everything works except that video podcasts will not sync to it. The same video syncs to my wife's ipod nano. Is there something special that I need to do? This is a question I asked about 2 years ago but never got a reply.
Also, is there a way to list music by Album Artist as in iTunes? Thanks.

Double check to make sure podcasts and configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.

Hey Silverdemon, sounds like a short, most likely in the headphones. Try a different set of headphones with this iPod or try the headphones with a different device. If the problem stops with your iPod or it moves to another device, then replace the headphones. If within 1 year of date of purchase Apple will replace the headphones for  free if problem is a defect, not abuse. If the problem continues with a different set of headphones, check the port for damage and foreign debris. If you note debris, attempt to remove it, if damage noted contact Apple and set up an appointment to have it evaluated. if nothing appears wrong, try plugging / unplugging to jack about 12 times maybe corrosion on the contacts if so that should clean it. Next thing to try reset your iPod. After that try restore from backup. Last resort, restore to new. Just make sure you make a full backup to your computer before you restore so no data is lost. If nothing works, contact Apple and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck, Cheers.

  • IPod Classic 80Gb intermittent problems

My iPod Classic 80Gb is starting to become a bit tempremental especially when used in the car but also at home although right now it is playing away fine through my hi-fi system. What happens is that seemingly at random the Apple logo appears on the screen and the device resets itself which is quite annoying when you're driving along. This iPod is now 6 years old and has the original battery and so the problems I am having might be due to the battery getting old.
In the car I am playing it through a Parrot MKi9200 bluetooth car kit http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits/parrot-mki9200/ which connects using the 30 pin connector although I could also use the 3.5mm jack but that doesn't display the song being played on the small LCD screen. At home I am playing it mostly through the 3.5mm jack to RCA (phono) into the aux input on my amplifier.
My iPod is synced with iTunes quite often as I'm always adding more music and the battery seems generally to be well topped up. There are times when I've been on a long car journey when the iPod obviously stops because the battery has gone too low but the majority of journeys in the car are short ones around town when the battery isn't getting too low. When the battery has gone too low it takes a while to get the iPod going again as the battery has to be charged before anything happens, whereas these freezes when the Apple screen comes up are short things which the iPod recovers from fairly quickly.
What I am trying to work out is if a new battery would solve the problems I am having or whether there might be something else needing replaced as well. If it was just the battery then I'd probably replace it but if it is more than that then I'd rather put the money I'd spend repairing it into a new iPod. Having said that I've heard that you can put a solid state hard drive in an iPod and I'm wondering if Apple will be releasing an iPod with a large ss hard drive as I think I read the current iPod Classic was to be the last in the line.

    Hi Snoopyathome.
You have the inccorect cable for the classic 80/160. The cable you have is described on this link: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=B5F 4A608&fnode=home/shopipod/ipod_accessories/cablesdocks&nplm=M9765G/B .
This is the incorrect cable for the classic. The cable you purchased plugs into the earphone jack and can be used with previous versions of the iopd, including "ipod with color Display" and "ipod with video". This exclused the classic 80 and classic 160.
The proper cable can be found at this link: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=4D7 9909E&fnode=home/shopipod/ipod_accessories/cablesdocks&nplm=MB129LL/A .
When I went to the ipod store here they tried to sell me that cable you purchased. Luckily, I had already been to the website to look for info about connections. I use the mb129ll/a with my classic 80 and it works perfectly.
The mb129ll/a also works with previous ipods listed at the bottom of the page on the link I place here.
    Good luck to you.

  • All of you who use the 80gb ipod classic and have problems with it freezing and syncing with itunes...well I have joined the club. This is a serious issue with apple and they need to correct it. I have tried everything to no avial.

This is beyond frustrating. I just wasted 70 dollars between a new battery and gas for my ipod 80gb classic. It was having major issues syncing and freezing with itunes. I tried everything possible and noticed that a lot of people have been having the same issues with their ipod classics as well. I must have restored it several times and now it just totally bit the dust. Now I have to shell out 130 dollars to send it in to apple to be rebuilt/fixed. This is nonsense and I just cant believe apple isn't doing anything to address this issue. My ipod was doing great for about nearly 5 years and now  this. I even down-graded to itunes 10.7, but by the time I had it set up to try, that's when my ipod totally failed and will not even come on. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.
