IPOD CLASSIC problem itunes does not recognise
I've had my ipod for nearly half a year now, but i have been unable to use it until now!
1) when i connect my ipod to computer the screen does not change, remains as the main menu
2) however if i plug it in when the computer is booting up it shows the connected screen and by the time it reaches the main screen it already disconnects on it's own
3) device manager: shows Ipod under +other devices+ with a *yellow question mark*
4) shows this when i plug it in : +"there was a problem installing this hardware. an error occured during the installation of this device. the data is invalid"+
I REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have itunes installed?
If yes, have you tried with another computer?

Itunes does not recognise the ipod after update to itunes 8.2.0.23
Hi, Now find, after putting new songs in my play list, that when I plug in ipod to update songs on ipod itunes does not recognise the ipod.
The version of iTunes I updated to was 8.2.0.23 - everything worked fine until then. I see there is a newer version 8.2.1 now available - do you think by installing this the "unable to recognise" problem would be fixed???
Thanks for your thoughts!I have a similar problem with the iPhone. Tried everything you can think of and then some. There is apparently some devastating bug 7.6 introduced into normal USB device recognition. I've been able to force the phone into recovery mode; the boot recovery USB driver does still work. Restoring the phone every time I need to sync is both scary and time-consuming.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

iTunes 6.0.4.2
CD Driver 2.0.4.3

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
Current user is administrator.

Drive is empty.
The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive D: HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4164B on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.
i dont even understand what this means, please help!!!!!!!!!!!! thanx xxxxWell the report just tells basics of your setup and errors going on in short. Error -128 means either you or iTUnes cancelled the burn before it even started.
Your issue tho is you have no lower filter. you should have 2, and upper filter and a lower filter. Now Im not that good with the filter thing just yet, but I think if you reinstall itunes it will install the lower filter you need.
You will want to remove itunes AND quicktime in the control panel>Add/remove. Dis able any antivirus/security programs so they do not interferr with iTUnes and then download and install the latest iTunes from www.apple.com -
Solution .Itunes does not recognise your your burner
If itunes does not recognise your burner, look in (my computer) if you have more drive than you actually have.if this is the case, you have a logical drive. You must go in your control panel and disable it. When you will try to burn .Itunes is gonna see your burner and ask you if you want to use it .
I also have a similar problem.
I have an 80g. Library was in fine working order.
Now, I had my computer wiped out, with a new itunes library.
I want to transfer my ipod music to my itunes library, but all of the programs to help me do this will not recognize my ipod, even on disk use and manual settings.

Itunes does not recognise ipad or iphone after window 8.1 patch May 2014
Last week my laptop did a patch update to windows 8.1 and now Itunes does not recognise my ipad or iphone when i plug them into the USB ports.
The devices do ask "to trust the computer" and Windows itself reconises the ipad and iphone and i can get to files on the apple products through windows but itunes doesnt see them and therefore doesnt sync therefore i cant download music onto my phone etc.
Ps i did uninstall itunes and reinstalled but this didnt work. Although after reading about other people with similar issues on past window updates I think I may need to uninstall all apple software .
I have an old Ipod 5G that works fine with Itunes.
Anybody with similar issues and a plan to get this sorted ?...... as i need music on my phone for holiday !!Hello andyv,

My iPhone 4 has not been working for the last 4months....I have just recently decided to give it another go and it seems to be working but I forgot my password. I would use iTunes to reset but my iTunes does not recognise my iPhone.... Is there anything that can be done
Locked Out, Forgot Lock or Restrictions Passcode, or Need to Restore Your Device
1. iOS- Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
3. Restoring iPod touch after forgotten passcode
4. What to Do If You've Forgotten Your iPhone's Passcode
5. iOS- Understanding passcodes
6. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software. -

this is complicating things as I can't change what's on the ipod eitherTry a hard reset by pressing the Home button and Wake / Sleep button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.

i changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?
In your case you can only restore from a backup that has been created with the same iOS version. An iPhone 4 can only run 7.1.2, and, unless your iPhone 5 did not run the same version, you can't use a newer iOS backup of the 5 on the iPhone 4

Hi, i have received an iphone 4s from japan! whwn i connect it to my pc, itunes does not recognise it. what can i do?
For this issue you might try a couple things.
First, try to restart the Apple Mobile Device service by clicking Start and searching for Services. Stop the service, then restart the service.
If that doesn't work, you can remove and reinstall iTunes.

This article will help with that process. Follow it exactly.
