IPod classic-projector connection through VGA adapter

Can I connect iPod classic to a projector using VGA adapter?

Do a Hard Reset, while connected to the Clarion, hopefully your iPod is fully charged
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the Red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

  • Ipad1 running ios5 cannot output screen through vga adapter

My iPad running ios4 is able to project its screen output onto a projector using the vga adapter.
After upgrading to ios5, projecting onto a screen is not possible. The projector screen remains blank after connecting the vga adapter.
The same adapter and projecter were used for a iPad 2 and the projection is fine.
Confirmed this is a problem with iPad running ios5.

Why not use a DVI output, almost all external displays have DVI or HDMI input.

  • My iPod classic accidentally went through the washer. I put it in rice and now it will turn on but it just shows a red X. Am I just out of luck?

My iPod classic accidentally went through the washer. I put it in rice for about two weeks. It will now turn on but only shows me a red X. I plugged it into the wall but I am afraid to plug it into my computer. I don't know if that will have an adverse affects on my computer. Am I just out of luck on this one or is there any way this is salvageable?

Rice is a weak drying agent. You can buy stronger desiccant's that will do a better job of drying out the iPod. But please use caution, these desiccant's can be poisonous, so use caution.
Considering the very high value of an iPod classic I would make every attempt to repair it.  One example is shown below, but there are many types available.

  • My iPod classic wont connect to the computer. The light comes on but it doesn't even come up with 'connected' screen. Have tried everything on apple troubleshoot but hasn't helped. Still works in Logitech iPod player. Any suggestions please???

My iPod classic wont connect to the computer. The light comes on but it doesn't even come up with 'connected' screen on the ipod. Have tried different computers, usb cables and ports, as well as restarting computer, updating itunes, and rebooting ipod. Still works in Logitech iPod player, however it has just wiped itself of all songs so at the moment I'm stuck with a useless iPod. Any suggestions please???

If you happen to have a USB docking cable that is new (or close to being new), try using that one.  If the cause is the dock connector on the iPod becoming worn, if you try it with a cable that is not worn, it's possible that it may connect for data.
I believe the dock connector is internally part of the logic board, so it may not be economical to have a repair shop (including Apple Store Genius Bar) do the repair.  You'll need to ask for pricing.
If you are good at such things, this web site has DIY repair guides
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod_Original
If it's the most recent iPod classic, it appears to be quite difficult to pry open.  I have an older 4th gen (and 3rd gen) "classic" iPod, and those are fairly eash to pry open, using the plastic tools.

  • How can I display to a projector using the VGA adapter?

Using a VGA Adapter to the Thunderbolt connection, I  can display a Keynote presentation just fine, but I cannot seem to display the screen to project an internet page to a group of people. Is there some trick to this?

From your description my guess is that you need to open System Preferences and select the Displays tab. Then click on the Arrangement tab and in the bottom right hand corner click on Mirror Displays. My guess is that at the moment your display setup is for 2 separate displays, 1 for the computer and 1 for the projector.

  • How can I get my ipod classic to connect to my computer?

So I downloaded Sharepod to get the songs on my iPod to my computer. And now when I connect it, it'll charge. But when it goes to sync anything new it does it for a minute then starts ejecting then a pop up shows up saying that disk (D:) is not connected or something along those lines. I tried to reset the iPod, doesn't sync after. What do I do to get it working again?

  • PC crashes when ipod classic 160GB connected

I have just bought a brand new ipod classic and I haven't been able to do anything because as soon as I plug it in my PC shuts down (no error message). I am using Windows XP home edition, service pack 3.

This sounds like you may want to re-install Apple Mobile Devices at the very least.
First, try disconnecting all USB stuff except for your keyboard and mouse. Then connect the iPod and see what happens. Your iPod may be conflicting with some other USB device. Also, if you are using a USB hub, do not connect the iPod through the hub. Connect the iPod directly to the system.
Here is an article to help you reinstall all the apple stuff in case the troubleshooting does not work:

My ipod classic (80 GB, from 2006) is connected to a new computer, but only sync 241 songs, out 1825.  I have restored several times.  How can I fix this?  my old computer is damaged and the new one run on Windows 8.

I ran into this same problem earlier with my new iPod classic 160 gb. Turns out it could be your files show in iTunes but they aren't connected to the location those music tracks are actually located.
    Does this make any sense?
You basically have to make sure iTunes is picking your songs from the right music folder via your preferences.
Option 1: If your iTunes is completely wiped blank and your music is stored in a safe place, backed up, etc. You can do the following:
Step A. Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder
**** please be sure to pick a location that is new or different from where you ACTUALLY stored your music to prevent your files from deleting itself as it updates****
For example, if you stored your music on your Desktop then you wouldn't choose your music folder to be the one in Desktop. You choose the folder where you want your music to go such as C:\My Music or in Mac, you choose the music folder.
Step B. Once you choose the folder where all your music is stored and you check the box that says "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library."
Step C. This is the part that will make sense. Drag the folder on desktop that houses all your music into iTunes. Because you checked the box "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library," iTunes will copy all the backup music you dragged into the folder location you designated it in "Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder."
---- once all that is done, your itunes will have ALL your music tracks linked to the right location on your computer and your iPod will sync with as many or all of the music you desire.
    Hope this helps.

  • Updated to iTunes 12 iPod Classic not connecting

After I installed iTunes 12 on my Windows computer over the weekend my iPod Classic could no longer be seen in iTunes. When I went to the device manager there was an Apple mobile device support driver under USB devices with an exclamation mark. After searching I tried restarting the computer and iPod,re-installing iTunes, re-installing the driver. Re-installing the driver gave me an error that the digital signature was corrupted or couldn't be verified. Finally I un-installed the driver by right clicking it in device manager but I checked the "Uninstall driver software" option underneath. Once I did that and scanned for changes the iPod was recognized and a USB mass storage device driver was installed. I could see it in iTunes again and everything was once again right in the world.

    Hey mattrivers,
Sounds like the first thing we need to troubleshoot is the iPod not turning on and charging, so I'd go through the suggestions in this article:
    iPod won't turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1383
If you are then able to turn it on and charge it, but it still isn't showing up in iTunes, then you'll want to follow this article:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
