Could someone let me know what will happen if I sync my ipod to my itunes library even though they are not the same (my ipod has more songs & my playlists) will I lose my ipod items or will they copy to my itunes library? Thank you so much.

  • IPod classic question, need answer

I noticed this, when ever I play a album on my 80GB iPod classic when it's done it goes back to the track list. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi, can anyone help before I throw my new Ipod Classic in the bin please ?
I have uploaded all my music ok but when I connect my Ipod, I get a 1/2 page request to agree to sofware licence. I click to agree but can't go forward as the "next" or "continue is on the other 1/2 of the page which I can't see.
How do I reduce it to get to the instruction ?

  • Ipod classic question (possibly first generation)

My mom has an ipod classic, I believe it is a first generation, and the computer it was "synced" to went down and so I was going to connect her ipod to my laptop and add music to her ipod for her. But I don't want to delete any of the songs from her ipod that are already on there, is there a way to add more music to her ipod without deleting all the music that is already synced on to it?

When I sync I get the message that some of my content wasn't synced to the iPod because of an unrecognized format. Its odd because it is downloaded from iTunes and is in m4v...I have not checked my settings. I will do that.

  • More of a Buying iPod Classic question...

I am in the market for a new iPod since my 8GB Nano is filled and i have more music that I want to add to it.
Although the iPod Touch is neat, I need more room and was considering an 80 or 160 GB Classic.
I went on ebay and found tons of them...only they were cheap as heck. Are these legit? Or chinese knock offs?
    Anyone know?
    Thanks!

Don't go with the 5g... Yes the classic is buggy right now, but apple will fix it, you know them. With the new one you get:
Full metal (more durable and scratch resistant front)
Glass screen (read this on a review, maybe apple insider, not confirmed though)
Bigger hard drive for cheaper price
    New UI/Cover flow
Support for the future games when apple pulls the ones for the 5g out of the store

  • IPod Classic question(s)...

I just bought a classic (80GB) the other day and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. I opted not to get the touch because I already have an iPhone and I didn't want to get the two devices confused by looks, nor did I feel like spending 500 bucks for a lame 32GB of space!
Anyways I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the finish is like on the black one? Is it a shiny piano black or a flat black? I can't really tell by pictures online.
Also, would this model be over or better then the iPod video? I had a 30GB model over a year or so ago but sold it cause I wasn't really using it.
I just hope I made the right choice.
    Thanks.

I was out traveling tonight and decided to check my mail from my iPhone and got a very strange message from the following user (who responded to this post earlier last night), by the name of "Snipereye64" and his response was "I hope u die"!
I must admit it took me by surprise that someone would respond like that to my post. What is his deal? Is he a troll? I see his post has been removed, but that was totally uncalled for, kinda creepy too!
Thanks again for your answer though Hrveylee...
Yeah, unfortunately as with all interactive sites like this, occasionally the brain dead post with stuff like that.
His post will have been removed by the forum Hosts. Don't worry about it, as I doubt it was directed at you specifically, just that he (or she) picked on one of your posts from the iPhone forum where that person also posts a lot.

  • Video to iPod Classic Question

I'm having an odd problem that I can't seem to fix. I've downloaded from iTunes the first season of "Dexter", synced it and watched the program on my 80GB iPod. I just downloaded season two, and though I can watch it on iTunes, I can't get it to sync onto my iPod. Season one still does, but it won't recognize season two.
Any help please? I'm travelling soon and desperate to get this fixed. Thanks

  • TS4124 Hi, do you know how can I upload inelegible songs from itunes to Icloud. They are songs added from original CDs. Another question would be how can I transfer all the music I have in my Ipod Classic to my Itunes or ICloud as I want to back it up.

Depends on why it's ineligible.  If it's under 96 Kpbs, try right-clicking on the file and choosing Create AAC Version.  (If you don't see this option, go to iTunes>Preferences, click "Import Settings..." then choose "Import Using: AAC Encoder" and "Setting: iTunes Plus".)  Then rescan your library to see if this version will add to iTunes Match.  Or, after changing your import setting, just re-import the song to your iTunes library.
If the song is over 200 MB you would have to reduce it's size to make it eligible.

  • Owners of the 80GB iPod classic, I have a few questions

Ok, so I got my 80GB black iPod classic today and have a few questions, one of these I will need you to check something on your classic.
1: Can you get the digital booklets from the albums purchased on the store on your classic?
2: Is it normal for the hard disk to make that noise when it's spooling?
3: I've noticed this, is there a slight delay switching to the "iPod" screen from the screen before it? I need some one to check this.

All hard disks make a bit of noise. The Classic uses a memory cache to allow it to stop the hard disk and thus save power. When you switch screens, the delay is due to the hard disk spinning up and/or searching for the next thing to display. In short, it's the price we have to play for 80/160Gb of space.

  • IPod Classic and Bose SoundDock Question

    Hi Everyone,
I currently have an older IPod 3G and am seriously thinking about buying a new IPod Classic. I also have a Bose SoundDock. Here's my question. Will the IPod Classic fit into the SoundDock. I have all the inserts that came with ths Bose but no way to verify if one will fit the classic. Can anyone verify this or tell me if there's an insert available from Bose?
    Thanks.

The Classic comes with an insert that will fit into the Sounddock.

  • IPod Classic 160GB Sound Quality Questions

My question relates to this older thread found here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1126861
Basically, it's that the new iPod Classics have inferior sound quality compared to older models because of the new Cirrus DAC, with reports of it sounding too bright/fatiguing/metallic/too much treble.
I love warm and laid back sound, so this concerns me and is the only thing stopping me from purchasing one. However, I am going to mainly use it in my car hooked up to a Pioneer P6100BT through USB which bypasses the iPod's DAC and uses the Pioneer one. Since I won't be using the iPod's DAC, will these sound issues not apply to me?
    Thanks in advance!

The Apple Discussions thread begins in September 2007 - old 160GB iPod Classic.
This long thread suggests that the latest 160GB model has improved sound quality.

  • Considering ipod touch over ipod classic, a few questions

Hello, I was hoping some of the current users of the iPod touch 2nd generation cna answer a few questions for me concerning the ipod touch, particularly those with an ipod classic as well.
I have had a 160 GB iPod classic for about a year. I had to take it back to be replaced twice because of harddrive failures. After I got the last new one I was fed up and decided to sell it on ebay. I have heard there were issues with the 80 and 160 GBs and the 120 is much better. There is a software upgrade that includes using the genious feature on your ipod for the 120's that was never available for the 160's. And since they discontinued the 160's, I'm assuming there was definately something wrong with that and Apple is too proud to admit to it, so they just roll with the 120's. So with that in mind I figured I'd sell my current 160 since the worst I could do is get the better model of the classic?
So then I started thinking, what about an iPod touch? Here are my concerns with goign with a touch over a classic...
The WiFi would be a huge benefit. I travel a lot and often don't feel like bringing my laptop with me. So when browsing the internet, I was wondering how it worked with Hotmail? With facebook? I know youtube works, but how does it work with other sites that are heavy with Adobe FlashPlayer, like Hulu.com? Or watch news clips from CNN or other things like that.
I use my ipod a lot in my car, and I don't think the touch screen would be very good for this to switch songs, anybody have any experience with this?
The flash drive is very appealing to me since I had 2 classics harddrive fail, but the small size is a concern, anybody have any opinions?
Can the touch be used in disk mode? Does it store full resolution files of photos?
I'm not big into games, but if I had a touch I know I would start.
Will I just get spoiled and wish it was an iPhone or something with 3G connection to the net?
    Thanks for any help!

The 160GB Classic was essentially the 1st Generation Classic, it was replaced by the 2nd Generation 120GB Classic, which as you have pointed out has the Genius feature etc. With the exception of the most recent Shuffle, Apple always discontinues production of the previous generation, and it has nothing to do with Apple admitting to anything. I too had to go through 2 160s before the 3rd one worked correctly, it happens. Did the Classic you sold on eBay work correctly.
Thanks to changes by Microsoft you can now use the mail app on the Touch with a hotmail account.
There is a Facebook app in the iTunes App Store, I don't use it so I can't vouch for it but you can go to the Apps Store and read the reviews.
There is no Flash plugin available for the Touch and it is probably going to be 2010 before one is available so no you won't be able to use Hulu.com, etc.
It will be harder to switch songs on the Touch in your car unless you install an iPod connection kit (if your radio supports it, the will allow you to control the Touch from your radio/steering wheel/whatever.
If you have a large iTunes library and want it always with you then you need to lean towards the Classic. If you can live with swapping things around you can go with the Touch. A big advantage to the Touch is the plethora of applications that are available on the iTunes Store, many of them free.
You cannot currently use the Touch in disk mode (don't know if version 3.0, coming this summer will add this) and it does not store full resolution files of photos.
I had a first generation Touch which I purchased on the same day that I bought my 160GB Classic. I sold the Touch and moved to the iPhone, you get spoiled with 3G access.

  • Emac & IPod Classic - USB2.0 questions

Our old EMac continues to do everything we need, including charging IPod Shuffles (think these are 2nd gen - little square model that looks like the latest one that has been released, not the cigarette ligher shaped one) - this has been the most reliable, trouble-free computer. But in looking at specs to upgrade to IPod Classic for kid's Xmas, stickler seems to be with the USB2 port issue (our Emac doesn't have USB2 port), operating system etc seems all OK. If it's a charging issue, couldn't we just get an ac charger? Or is it that we wouldn't be able to download from ITunes? And what does "backward compatible" really mean for us?? Sorry if these seem dumb questions, but I'm really not clear about the USB2 port question - sometimes we get a message advising to move to USB2 port if available - but we just click OK and it's never appeared to be a problem. Thanks

There are various methods of reverting back to a previous version of iTunes. You will find them in the iTunes section of the forum just do a search.
One of the important parts is having the standalone installer for whatever version of iTunes 9 you want to use. So get that in hand first and then learn how to go back in time.
    Good Luck

  • I have a 30GB Ipod Classic with sync question

I have not synced in quite a while. When I tried to sync this morning, I received the following message:
"The ipod is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync wit this iTunes Library"?
I see all of my music on the laptop library and all of the music ont he iPod itself, but i am concerned about what to do now.
    Please help.

are you sure you have a 30gb ipod classic - the ipod classic is only 80gb and 160gb - if it is 30gb it must be an ipod video.
would advise you to re-post your message in the correct forum so people can with more experience in the ipod video can help you.
    hope this helps!

  • IPOD CLASSIC POWER QUESTIONS

Ok so I have a bunch of these old iPod classics from 2003 that won't power on. I suspect its the batterys. Anyway I replaced the batteries in one of them and got it to turn on. But they don't charge from the USB to the computer, so i'm told...So I bought a cheap aftermarket wall charger off ebay and that still did not work...I'm wondering if there is a specific type of charger, voltage etc I should be looking for?

Ok so I have a bunch of these old iPod classics from 2003 that won't power on.
They are not iPod classics. The iPod classic wasn't released until 2007. I think they're iPod with dock connector (commonly known as the iPod 3rd generation) which will not charge via a usb connection.
If my memory serves me correctly, this applies not only to computers but to wall chargers as well.
You will need a wall charger that connects via firewire.
You can check what model iPod you have from this link.
