IPod classic quits charging after ejecting from iTunes

Running Windows 8.1, more of a recent problem I noticed.  I'm guessing the solution has to do with going into device manager, but not sure what the fix is.  Any help??  Thank you for your time.

It turns out I am having the same problem, and I am also using Windows 8.1. I'm pretty sure that I haven't plugged in my iPod since the update. At first my laptop wasn't recognizing that my iPod was plugged in at all, and after I uninstalled the driver then reinstalled it, it started working again. My best idea for a solution right now is to put the iPod into Disk Mode, because it seems to be charging that way. But maybe Apple could check on a driver update, or what ever it is that is causing the problem.

  • Is it possible to charge Ipod5G in Windows 2000 after ejecting from Itunes?

Is it possible to charge Ipod5G in Windows 2000 after ejecting from Itunes? but keeping it connected? I'm using a fairly powerful and new computer at work...loaded with Win2K (2000), and for some reason it doesnt want to charge once I've ejected it from Itunes.
My home computer with Windows XP works fine with this, I can eject, but keep it connected so it charges while i watch videos, or listen to music.
    Can anyone help?
also...the computer at work does have USB 2, and can charge properly...but only if the ipods screen says "DO NOT DISCONNECT"
    Thanks folks!

I have the same problem and the cause is with Windows 2000. My pc has USB 2.0 and no hardware problems either with the computer, ipod or cables. Basically Windows seems to be shutting down the power for the USB port as soon as Itunes completes its update every time. So the ipod gets a charge for a minute or two and that's it.
I have just been using another pc for the charge which is annoying - haven't found a solution yet although fiddling with the settings so that itunes is only started up manually may be a good workaround.
Other people have had the same problem in Win 2k with other models -

  • IPod Classic not charging after sync

When I plug my iPod Classic into my computer, it syncs up normally with iTunes, and the battery icon gives a "charging" indication. But when it finishes the sync and says "OK to disconnect", the icon stops showing the charging symbol, and the iPod stops charging itself. It only shows the charging icon for the few seconds while it's actually on the "Connected to iPod" screen and syncing up. The battery is now almost dead and I am at my wits' end. It only started doing this recently, I suspect due to some update or another. Help?

I've just had the same problem and couldn't find any answers. You may have found this out by now but thankfully you can still charge the iPod at least...
Open iTunes and click on preferences (either from the small box in top left, or under edit); click on devices; make sure "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" is ticked; Click OK.
Now when you plug in your iPod the "Connected - Eject before disconnecting" screen should remain and it should charge. Then do any syncs after it's fully charged.

  • Ipod Classic looses music when ejected from computer

I had just gotten a replacement Ipod Classic 80GB and now after a couple of months it just started messing up. I had recently put more music onto it and after it was done syncing I ejected it. After I rejected it the Ipod said nothing was on it, but the space was still used. When I reconnected it into the computer it said everything was on my Ipod but continued to be empty when I disconnected. Can someone help me get my music back on the Ipod?

i had the same problem..i just added some songs for my ipod classic 160g 5th gen..when i ejected it and turned on my iPod i Lost aLL the contents of my ipod but when i used it with iTunes there it is, all of my songs and videos are still there. . i think all my songs and videos turned into hidden files because one time when i checked it in my computer i saw an iPod control folder that looks blurred or transparent type..could this be a hidden file? how can i restore or use my ipod again. .PLEASE HELP ME..

  • Ipod classic skips with songs downloaded from itunes and mp3's.

I have an ipod 120gb classic, I listen to it in my van through my alpine car stereo, i found that it would start to play songs and then skip to the next song in the playlist, i thought it may have been the cable for the stereo that was the problem, 2 month ago i changed the stereo and the cables and with the brand new stereo the ipod is still skipping through songs which leads me to believe that its an ipod issue and not my alpine, is there anyway to correct this, as it is very annoying, i bought the ipod to avoid having cds and damagings them now the ipod is doing what cds do, skipping tracks, and then ive noticed for such an expensive investment, apple has not been able to resolve the problem.

I need to know more specifics about your problem.
Are your songs ending earlier than expected and the play count incrementing? If you push the back button to play the song again, does it end at the same premature time? Can you scrub (push the center select button once and then scroll) to a point 60 seconds after the songs cuts off and hear the remainder of the song play? If you listen to the same song on your computer and it plays fine all the way through and all of the above applies, then the problem is that iTunes is omitting a small amount of data in the midst of the data stream as it transfers files to the iPod.
Uncheck the song(s) ending too early; sync; check the song(s) ending early; sync. iTunes will then send a new copy of each song to the iPod. If any song on the iPod isn't repaired after this (and the point where the song cuts off may change), then repeating the process for any song which didn't get repaired should work.

  • IPod loses battery charge when uploading from iTunes

    Hey all,
I really could use some help here. I don't know what happened but for some reason my iPod's full battery quickly (and I mean within minutes) goes down to empty when I try to upload the songs from iTunes. I have reset the iPod several times and also restored it hoping that would help but it hasn't.
I'm dreading hearing the phrase "time to get a new battery" on this because I really don't want to send it in. I listen to it everyday and can't live without it.
Any suggestions? I'm using a PC so I can't charge and upload at the same time.
iPod 3rd generation (touch wheel)   Windows XP

No, I have a PC, not a mac so I can't charge while my iPod is connected to my computer.
The battery has been ok, not great, but I've been able to use it for a few hours without having to re-charge. However, in the last few days it hasn't wanted to take a full charge for some reason.
I'm probably going to have to send it in to be replaced which is unfortunate because it's only 2 years old.

    Hey zerrodactyl,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • IPod classic 120gb - can't download from itunes

I sync the ipod to my mac, open it and DON"T get a management screen that I've read about.  It just opens in finder.  What is shown to be on the ipod is not what actually is.  My problem is, I'm trying to download music from itunes onto it.  When I do it shows up in the finder window as being on the ipod, but isn't.  What can I do?  I'm willing to restore it but don't know how without a management screen, and will that help?

I think I FINALLY!!! got the solution. I did all that uninstalling, reinstalling, updating, deleting..yada yada...crap. Finally, I decided just to make a new folder in My Documents and named it "New Folder". I moved all my music from "MY Music" folder to this "New Folder". I deleted all the music in my Itunes program and reloaded it from the "New Folder". It seemed to work. Good Luck!

  • Ipod nano won't sync podcasts from iTunes after I "Restored" the ipod.

iPod nano won't sync podcasts from iTunes after I "Restored" the iPod.

If you've read the Technical Specification you will find that the nano can only use Firewire for charging, not for syncing:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
"Charging via USB or FireWire to computer system or power adapter (sold separately)"
So you can rule that out.

Transfer all of your content to the computer:
Tunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Then try turning the device off and on again. I'd leave it off for 10-15 minutes, but that is up to you:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the item is still there, you may need to restore the device:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Hope that helps . Worst case scenario, you may need to write into iTunes support to see if they can also help!!
