  • Help iPod Classic Reboot Loop!

My iPod classic resently got the corrupted message when I was using Windows Vista, so i restored, and low and behold my iPod ( out of warranty by the way) is now stuck on the infamous reboot loop!
I'm using a macbook pro now, but still nothing
Does anybody know any fixes for this?
    Cheers
    Jack

Alright, so I finally decided to just call Apple and see what was going on. I got talking to someone and explained my problem, about how the iPod wouldn't reformat and such, and he told me that something was wrong with the connections or something inside the iPod. Which in short means my iPod is dead, lol. Since it's only 2 months old though they're going to replace it, so they're sending me a box to ship my iPod back in, then once they recieve my iPod they're just going to send me a brand new one (and yes, a new one, not a refurbished one, I asked) and not even bother trying to just repair my old one, which leads me to believe that he's heard this problem already multiple times....
So basically I should be getting a new iPod in 10 days he said. Now I get to spend my break reimporting all my cd's.... score. This will be my 4th iPod... you'd think I'd have learned by now.. but no... lol.

  • 2014 Sync problems on iPod classic / Please help!! 2014

    Hello community!
I really need some help with this problem I am having... I have done some research for the past few days on my own but nothing I have found has helped.
First some specs on my device...
iPod Classic: 80 GB (I believe this is iPod with video, assumed on the fact that it supports movie syncs)
iPod software version: 1.1.2 (up to date according to iTunes)
    Formatted for Windows
Syncing to Dell Inspiron with Windows 7
iTunes updated to current version (11.4)
I had much mof my music library uploaded onto my iPod for quite sometime. (close to 14,000 songs synced at 192 kbps) I often like to put my iPod on shuffle and just listen to whatever comes on, but here and there I will skip songs until something I am in the mood for comes on... I began to notice that my iPod was freezing (ON THE DISPLAY ONLY!!! Playback through speakers continued) when I would skip through songs... Once the screen dimmed however, I could once again skip to the next song. I figured this was a problem concerning corrupted files or something similar. These are the steps I took..
1.) Updated iTunes to version 11.4 and checked for further updates
2.) ATTEMPTED to check disk within Windows (was unsuccessful and heard the iPod making a lot of 'clicking' noises from within the casing)
3.) Performed an iPod restore within iTunes
4.) Performed a check disk within Windows and recovered any bad sectors (SUCCESSFUL)
5.) Selected 'Music' sync and the option for 'Entire music library'
    6.) UNCHECKED 'Include music videos'
7.) Reconfigured settings as they were before and made slight changes..
a.) Checked 'Open iTunes when this iPod is connected'
b.) Checked 'Sync only checked songs and videos'
c.) Checked 'Convert higher bit rate songs to '192 kbps' AAC'
d.) Unchecked 'Manually manage music and videos'
         e.) Unchecked 'Enable disk use'
8.) Began a sync on my iPod... With well over 10,000 songs I knew this was going to be a lengthy process.. I left computer unattended..
When I returned to my computer, iTunes was unresponsive... The only way I could get iTunes to show was to minimize a Window on top of iTunes. iTunes states 'Syncing iPod... Do not disconnect' but does not show a rolling progress bar.. I cannot cancel sync, I cannot eject iPod, I cannot close iTunes...
I attempt to eject iPod device through windows, UNSUCCESSFUL (Cannot unmount generic volume while the device is in use)
I 'Ctrl+Alt+Dlt' to Task Manager and End Program 'iTunes' UNSUCCESSFUL..
I End Process 'iTunes.exe *32' and eject iPod through Windows SUCCESSFUL
When the iPod displayed 'OK to disconnect with load bar, I disconnected the device.
As soon as this bar was full iPod IMMEDIATELY rebooted completely and powered back up with only 20 songs synced. (Frustration ensues)
Confused and thinking maybe my screen saver caused an interruption during the sync, I changed screen saver and power saving options to eliminate any possible interruption, REPEATED STEPS 3-8 ABOVE, and started sync again.. Left computer unattended
Again, coming back to computer much later, iTunes was in the same unresponsive state. Closed iTunes and began looking for answers on the internet. Any and all answers I found stated I should restore iPod, update iTunes, run diagnostics tests, etc., etc...
All of which I had done EXCEPT for running a diagnostics test..
Running a diagnostics test: I ran only the tests concerned with 'Device Connectivity' and 'Device sync' tests.. Here are the very interesting results I yielded from these tests...
    Device Connectivity Test:
    Support services:
'iPod support service is running.' Status: GREEN
'iTunes Helper is running.' Status: GREEN
'Apple Mobile Device is running.' Status: GREEN
    Ports:
         'USB ports verified.' Status: GREEN
'No FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports found.' Status: GREEN
         'iPod found.' Status GREEN
    ALL TESTS PASSED
    Device Sync Tests
    Results:
No iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad found. Status: RED
    ONE OR MORE TESTS FAILED
I am at a loss, I realize that Apple has discontinued the iPod Classic but does that mean iTunes will no longer support these devices!?
And if ANYONE has ANY suggestions for possible steps I can take to regain syncing privileges to my iPod once again, please let me know!
Also, I have diagnostics test results saved on my desktop and available to post if required!
Thank you for any and all help!
    -Chris

    !UPDATE!
I made several adjustments to my sync options and made some progress and am now trying to sync in 'stages' as I like to think of them.
    Here is what I did:
1.) Under 'Music' tab in 'My iPod' options I opted to sync 'Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres'
2.) Selected a small portion of tunes I know I want on my iPod (ended up being close to 3,500 songs.
3.) Under 'Summary' tab I unchecked the 'Sync only checked songs and videos' box
4.) Unchecked 'Convert higher bit rate songs to ___ AAC'
    5.) Checked 'Enable disk use'
    6.) Ran a SUCCESSFUL sync!
I am now running a sync keeping the same adjustments in place and have added 6,556 songs. (SYNC IN PROGRESS)
I am wondering if trying to convert that many songs to a lower bit rate is causing sync problems and it appears as if I am at least making progress on this. HOWEVER, I really prefer to decrease the bit rate on my songs so I may fit more on my iPod... Usually most of the files I have in iTunes are at 320 kbps with a select few at 192 kbps. I would like to make everything the way it was before my first iPod restore.. 192 kbps, but this also seems to be the cause of the sync problems I am having? Anyone else have a comment on this?
    Thanks again
    -Chris

  • New 80GB iPod Classic Reboot Loop.... With A Twist??

First of all, let me just say that I've searched for hours upon hours trying to find the answer to this questions before making this post, so please bare with me
So, I have the 80GB iPod Classic, and was really happy with it. I had to get it because my 5th Gen iPod was stolen, and found that I really like all the features it has, yadda yadda. So basically, I had zero problems.
Then a few days ago, it started acting funny. It would just stop at the beginning of random songs and stop playing. I couldn't figure out why, so would just skip the song and listen to the next one. This was all fine and dandy until the next time I plugged my iPod into my laptop.
It has started on the coveted reboot loop, showing the Apple logo, starting to start up, but then failing, then starting the cycle over again.
Reading other posts, the way to fix this is to plug the iPod into the computer, put it into disk mode, then reformat.
My problem is that it won't reformat! I have no problem losing the music at this time, I can get it all back on there, but the stupid thing won't actually reformat itself!
When I plug it into the computer it says different things. If I plug it in while it is already in disk mode, it says "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod." If I plug it into the computer while it is still going through the reboot cycle it comes up with the message, "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "MELISSA'S I". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings." Then it shows up in iTunes, but only under the name "iPod" instead of "Melissa's iPod", says n/a for the capacity, but then still has the correct software version (1.0.3) and serial number. I can then click restore, and the computer does its thing, then tells me it has be reformatted and to leave it plugged into the computer, then it will show back up in iTunes once it has restarted. The problem lies in that it never makes it through the restart to become listed in iTunes again until I put it into disk mode again. It seems that everyone else's problem is solved when they put it into disk mode, but that's just not working for me....
I have honestly tried everything. Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, tried another computer, charged it with a wall charger, went through all the iPod properties, turned the iPod service off and on, did resets, went through everything possible in the Apple help, and all I want to do is listen to my music!!!
Any suggestions, or am I resigned to spending hours on the phone with Apple, or sending it back to them?
Thanks for all the help in advance, and happy holidays!
    Melissa

  • Ipod classic corrupted help

So i've had my iPod classic for a couple of years now with very few problems, but I plugged it in to my Imac today when a pop-up tells me that my ipod has been corrupted. i tried disconnecting  it a few times but found that after pressing the eject button the ipod will still say connected until i actually take the cable out. I also tried to restore the ipod but that didn't help at all and now i have no music.
I have looked a bit online and found how to get to the stats but i have no understanding of them whatsoever so i'll post them here:
    Retracts: 12
    Reallocks: 0
    Poweron hours: 609
    Start/Stops: 9193
    Temp: Current 31c
    Temp: Min 4c
    Temp: Max 54c
    All answers appreciated, Thanks.

The max temp. is a little high. Not supposed to go above 50. Other than that there are no apparent problems. Try working through the suggestions for restoring in Corrupt iPod classic.

  • Having problems adding contacts to my ipod classic, itunes help says to click on the "info" button.  But there doesn't seem to be an "info" button in my itunes under my ipod

I am wanting to add contacts to my ipod classic 160gb, the intunes help says to click on the "info" button on my device, but there doesn't seem to be an "info" button there.  I have tried restoring my ipod as well, twice now.  But doesn't work.  Any ideas?

'Info' is along the top of the iTunes window when you have the iPod attached and selected.
When info is selected you will find the option you want.
    Best.

  • HT1435 iPod Classic reboots itself every minute, is there a way to restore it?

After populating a new iPod Classic up to 50GB of 160GB space, it reboots itself every minute. No chance for iTunes to recognise so no way to reset/reload the device.
Any other way anyone can suggest? Mainly to delete the contents before replacing/returning to the shop.

  • Ipod Classic 30GB Help

my ipod classic 30 gb wont autofill all of my songs. i got 2200 songs and it took about 1300 and theres mad space left. i get an error message when i try to add  certain songs.

Weird noises are bad from the iPod, unless you are playing Weird Al Jankovic albums, but most likely, it is a dying Hardisk, which cant access the boot sector.
Do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, as posted earlier by tt2, it wont solve your problem, but help in troubleshooting.

  • MY IPOD CLASSIC NEEDS HELP!

    Hi,
My ipod classic 160GB has a problem. A serious one. It was fine until I tried plugging it into the laptop via usb. Windows suggested I reformat it, but i cancelled that. Upon ejecting my ipod to try reconnecting it to the laptop again, the ipod launched into a reset screen infinite loop where it keeps resetting over and over again. Now I tried reformatting it by entering disk mode and then connecting it into the computer. However, windows was unable to reformat the ipod as it could not access the disk drive. When I open 'computer' on my laptop, the ipod is detected as a removable disk. However when i attempt to open it, windows tells me "Please insert disk into removable disk." I have no idea how to solve this problem. Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Identify where it might be shorting out on the case and put a layer of insulation there.

  • IPOD continually rebooting HELP?!?!?!

My IPOD Battery died and when I plugged it in to recharge it, instead of recharging it continually starts and then restarts. It's not giving the battery enough time to charge. Also not giving me enough time to reset or shut it off. ANY help would be great! Thank you

    Hi,
I'm sorry don´t have and answer, but a similar problem. I just got a brand new 30G IPod Video. Since I only use an ibook, I decided to restore it to Mac format and loaded my music libray + 5 music videos, the ipod is at 30% capacity. Now, here is the problem whenever I connect it directly to the usb port of my mac it will charge and sync, no problem so far, but whenever I try to just charge it or connect to my ibook via a universal dock or to the universal dock and USB power adapter or just the USB cable connected to the power adatpter, it seems everything is fine until I take the iPod out of the dock or disconnect the cable... it just reboots, it won't lose content but the Date and time are reseted to 00:00 AM, Jan 1 2000.
I have tried several times in different scenarios with the same result. I have the latest ipod fimrware 1.1 loaded.
The other wierd thing is that no matter how long I left the ipod charging it seems never to reach a full charge
I've tried reseting the Ipod as well as restoring the it, also I rebooted my mac, etc.
The dock and the power adapter seems to work fine since I have also and Ipodnano and a mini and they work just fine.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks

  • ITunes (and other programs) unable to recognize the contents of my iPod classic. Help/advice?

Recently the hard drive of my macbook failed, causing me to lose all of the contents on it - including my music. It wasn't of too major concern for me considering I have my iPod and have ripped music from it to iTunes before. Alas when I attempted to do so today neither iTunes nor any other iPod transfer program (senuti, phone to mac, irip) can recognize it. The music is still on there and I can still listen to it, I just am unable to access it on my computer apparently. Is there any manual way to move the files? iTunes continues to suggest I restore my iPod, but I really don't want to lose the almost 3000 songs I have collected over the last 5 years. Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated!

Nevermind! I rebooted my iPod and my computer recognized it! Whew!

  • Ipod classic album art work

Hello some of my albums in the coverflow on my ipod classic are in the wrong order for example the strokes, the doves and others are at the end of the coverflow in the ipod classic. please help me?

If your iPod is set to update automatically give this a try , it can often sort out wrong artwork problems:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes (Right click on the iPod icon and choose Sync from the menu)
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.
