Ipod Classic TV viewing?
I have an IPOD Classic and have downloaded music videos from Itunes (legally) Would like to view on my large TV but don't know the proper cables. My TV has USB port as well as an unused HDMI inputs. Any thoughts as to the proper cable and settings on the Ipod?

There are/were two different cable sets made for the iPod classic: iPod AV Component cable with 5 phono connectors R,G,B (Video) L, R (Audio) or iPod AV Composite cable with 3 phono connectors V (Video) L, R (Audio). Composite to SCART is a common 3rd party adaptor.
I've no idea if there is actually a way to hook up an iPod classic to HDMI. There is a 30-pin dock connector to AV/HDMI kit but that appears to support iOS devices only.

You can plug the iPod into the same iTunes library as your iPod Touch and sync whatever content you like to it. There is no limilt to the number of iPads, iPhones, or iPods you can sync with one iTunes library, account, or computer. How you sync one device will not affect the syncing preferences of the other.

I'm working on a project for school, displaying the history of the iPod. I see where there are 3-D views of the current iPod Classic, Nano, Shuffle, and Touch on their perspective pages in the store. Does anyone know where I could get 3-d views of all the older iPods? Or at least some good hi-res images? Thank you.
It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

IPOD Classic - memory view in I-Tunes
Have 80GB listed in memory as "Other" but there is only music on the IPOD. Tried viewing content of IPOD as a USB devide but can't see what this "other" content is
I had this problem with my iPod Classic a few months ago. I ended up reverting my iPod back to factory settings.

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.

I'm unable to access content on my iPod Classic while it is connected to iTunes.
The iPod itself shows up and is set to manual management, but I am unable to view or play any of the content on it (music, movies, podcasts etc.).
I can click the tabs Music, Movies etc. but I can't see anywhere to access the files themselves, no music or movies are listed, I only have the option to 'Sync' with the iTunes, which I don't want to do as there is no content on the iTunes!!!

I carefully number my iPod bound photos so that they are in a desired order by filename. When I sync the photos to my iPod Classic they are not in the same order. A typical filename would be: 001 001 IMG-3489.jpg followed by 001 002 IMG-3478.jpg. Windows uses the first seven characters to order the files and does not care what follows the first seven so long as the first seven are not duplicated within the folder. My iPod ignores that convention. HELP! PLEASE! I want to view my slideshows in the correct order.
ThanksDoes both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
Sync your library.

IPod Classic Album listing view
I recently bought iPod Classic touch 80 GB. In the iPod, when I go to Albums, it lists out everything but under every album name, it lists out Composer/Artist name. If there no names available, it puts Unknown there. Due to this extra line of information, the number of albums listed for each view is very limited. Can anyone help how do I disable the display of Composer/Artist information and just list the albums name? Thanks for all the help.
You can't change that, in Album view the Classic will display the Artist name under the Album, along with a thumbnail of the artwork (if available).

I've got a iPod classic 80g I've got loads of pictures on there and I want to get them off. I've tried something where the files I get off come up as thumbnails which I can't open. Is there any way of getting them off and viewing them as a normal photo?

Viewing Podcast Descriptions on iPod Classic after Changing Media Kind to Podcast
Hi,
I have spoken word mp3 episodes as Media Kind: Music that I want to listen to on my iPod Classic 120 GB as Podcasts mainly because I want to be able to view the episode description of each to see the content while choosing which to listen to.
I have all the meta data entered, including the Description, for each episode, and in iTunes 11.0.1 OS X, I change the Media Kind: from Music to Podcast. The episodes go into the Podcast Menu fine and I can see the Description for each episode in iTunes.
However, when I sync my iPod and the Podcasts sync successfully to the device, each of these episodes is treated by the iPod as music in that when I press the center button to cycle through to the Description, the cycle sequence is like it is Music and the Description is not shown--it goes from Rating to the main screen and skips the Description.
Does anyone know if this is an iTunes or an iPod Classic issue, or if I (likely) am just missing something simple to be able to view the Descriptions.
I can get the Podcasts published successfully with the descriptions shown on the iPod using Typecast, but I have descriptions entered for a couple of dozen episodes already and I didn't want to have to do it all again if there was a simple fix.
Thanks!!The information you refer to is carried in the feed, not embedded into the media file, so the only way of keeping it is by entering it into the 'Comments' tag yourself in the Info pane. Unfortunately you can't copy the text you see when you click the 'i' button, so you would either have to type it all in manually or download the feed and extract the text from there.

Can iPod Classic 80G use coverflow view?
I bought a used iPod Classic 80G, and I restored it to its original settings, and i have the latest softwere version, wich is 1.3. I have basicaly 2 questions:
1) When i'm using my iPod can i search my musics with coverflow view? I know that the new ones can, so i would like to know too if apple intends to distribute the new softwere for iPod classics that would include feutures like genius playlist and coverflow view.
2) I got used to coverflow on my iTunes library, but i can't use it when i'm looking at my musics on the iPod in the computer. I can't even view as grid, and i'm stuck with view as list. The question is, am i really stucked as view or is there a way to view it sorted by albuns?
Tanks for the helpIt's not a "Classic" - the latest firmware for the 80/16Gb iPod Classic (i.e. 6th gen.) is v 1.1.2. You have a 5th generation iPod. Menu options are what you've already seen. There are no prospects for Cover Flow or any other graphically enhanced menus on your iPod.

ipod classic shows disk 3/4 full but when i look in the folders it shows zero for music and zero for podscasts. i can not access these folders on the ipod or when it does connect to my windows computer thru itunes. it does not connect 90% of the time now. i let it check the disk when it was connected to my pc which did not good - any other ideas? other than restore?
Your iPod filesystem is corrupted, so your music and podcastr is in the Others, this is most likely caused by a slow USB connection, which timeout during sync.
Try the Hard Reset first
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

Then do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, in this earlier post by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but help you decide if your iPod is dying and causing the timeouts.

This is the third iPod classic this has happened to, so it's not a fluke.
I upoaded a video podcast from iTunes. The video name, etc. displayed properly in the iPod, but when I tried to open it, the iPod crashed and now just continuously reboots. My iMac does not recognize the iPod anymore.

Blue screen when re-opening iTunes 9.0.3 w/ iPod Classic already plugged in

This is regarding iTunes 9.0.3.15 for Windows
Potential bug: Windows blue screen (SYSTEMSERVICEEXCEPTION) when re-opening iTunes with iPod Classic 120GB already plugged into USB port.
I have been able to replicate this problem twice now. Here are the exact steps:
1. Plug iPod Classic 120GB (bought new in November 2008) into a USB port and iTunes opens and syncs (I have it set to manually manage my iPod).
2. Use iTunes for a bit, then click the eject icon next to my iPod in iTunes (when it's not syncing) but leave iPod plugged into the USB port (to charge).
3. Close iTunes and use Internet Explorer for a few minutes and close Internet Explorer (with no other apps running).
4. Open iTunes. iTunes connects to iPod (iPod screen shows "Connected").
5. Scroll through the iTunes Music Library in List view, click any music file and a Windows Blue Screen appears (SYSTEMSERVICEEXCEPTION), does a memory dump and then forces the computer to restart.
So far, the blue screen only occurs under these specific circumstances. I do not know if this problem existed before iTunes 9.0.3.15 as I have never tried the above steps in earlier versions. I just happened to be able to retrace my steps to notice the blue screen problem in 9.0.3.15

When I connect my iPod Nano 3Gen, iTunes comes up -- syncing begins -- and then immediately triggers a blue screen with the SystemServiceException error and a crash dump is generated. I have been unable to find a resolution in 3-4 weeks of searching, including HP Technical Support, trolling the Windows 7 Support sites, and now, here. The Advice given by HP was to uninstall all USB drivers and let reboot reinstall them. That didn't work. Then they asked me to reboot my PC, hit F10 until the BIOS came up, and then find and disable the "enable legacy USB" capability -- except that no such setting is available in my BIOS. Obviously it's a driver issue, and just as obviously it's a Windows 7 / iTunes issue -- but no one is offering a solution, yet.

Where are the rdl files on my reporting server etc?
Hi. We run 2008 R2 and I'm poking around to find out what I can about the reporting services servers here. I'm focused on one report Report1 whose source I believe I've found in our version control. I can also run it from one of our Wickis and I s
