IPod Classic will not show up in iTunes

Okay. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere before, but I don't have time to surf through all those posts, so here's my problem. I had an old MacBook with an iTunes account and my iPod Classic would sync up to it just fine. Now I am using someone else's iMac and my iPod will not show up in iTunes. The iMac recognizes my iPod; the icon for it will show up on the desktop. iTunes also somehow recognizes my iPod, because when I hook it to the usb, iTunes automatically opens up. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it (twice) via the steps you get from Apple support. I've also tried misc. other tips apple gives you, and to no avail. I'm tired of trying the same old thing- nothing ever works!! Any suggestions???? Thanks!

My 4th gen ipod shuffle will not show up in iTunes, and is not recognized by my computer. I am using a MacBook Pro purchased six months ago, with all software up to date. I am using the most recent version of iTunes,and the original factory connector. It does charge through the computer, but is not seen by the computer. I have gone through all of the recommened troubleshooting, and have verified that the connectors are plugged in properly.

The cable that I'm using came with my 5th gen nano. The 6th gen Ipod shows that it's connected but the computer doesn't see it, so I don't think that it's the cable.
I did try this before when looking at the troubleshooting guide and nothing happens. It just resets and then the Ipod screen tells me that it's connected to the computer. It still is unseen by Itunes and no where to be found in my computer.
I don't have another computer to plug it into at the moment but I may be able to visit a friend that owns a decent PC in a few days. If that doesn't work out I will be getting a new lap top in a week and I'm hoping that it will work on that, but it won't be a Mac. So, let's say it works when I plug it into one of these computers, should I reset my Ipod from there or is there something else I should do?

like a say though, not showing up in itunes still
before it recently had this failure, it had shown up as corrupted and that it needed restoring (but i was holding off, as i manually managed all music and was hoping for a way to back it all up, to no avail)
first time posting here, would appreciate a quick answer because tempted to just click the 'restore device defaults' option

Ipod Classic does not show up in iTunes and will not sync

My ipod classic does not show up as a device in iTunes. It was working just a week or so ago, but each time I plug it in the screen says connected, then switches to Ejected, you can now disconnect, then says OK to disconnect and then goes to the home screen. Can someone advise me on what is going on and what I need to do to fix it! Thanks!!!

IPod Touch will not show up in iTunes...Please Help

Here is what I know/can remember. My iPod has not worked in 3 months! Not sure at what point it stopped but it worked fine for a year. Now when I plug it in it charges just fine just will not show up in iTunes. Sometimes it shows up as an unknown device on my computer and in the hardware device section shows up as unknown device. Thats all I got. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting. I have took each little peice off and then reinstalled numerous times. I have even restored my computer back to square one. Still not working! I want to cry. I just want to listen to my podcasts again. They are downloading into Itunes just can't get the Ipod Touch to show up in iTunes...willing to try anything! Please help if you can! I have a 16GB and use XP with SP3. I assume all my hardware is good to go since it worked before and it charges through the USB port!

Ipod touch will not show up in itunes after update 11.1.14.62

After updating iTunes to 11.1.14.62 my 3 of my 4 devices will not show up in iTunes. I have two iPod touch devices, an iPhone 4, and an old iPod Shuffle. The only one that shows up is the iPod Shuffle. Everything was fine until this latest update. I've checked with other people and they're having the same issue. I have Windows 8.1 64 bit.

IPod Classic will not sync since installed iTunes 11

iPod Classic will not sync properly since installed new iTunes. Always stops at or around song 2 and just hangs there, even if left all night. Tried restoring the iPod, made no difference. Tried syncing just some songs, sometimes it will do 20 or so but not more than that - and I have 10,000 songs.
Saw something about problem with Winsock and reset that but no effect.
Recently been re-recording CDs in Apple Lossless with 'Convert to AAC' selected for iPod. Maybe the conversion process is causing the block? But it did not before.
I also tried moving the itunes material from the Synology NAS to the PC as I thought the processing power might be the problem. It synced once after that, now it is blocked again. Tonight I tried selecting only the original AAC files and it seems to have worked for them, my problem therefore seems to be the Apple Lossless - unless the syncing of AAC files is another one-off.
Not for the first time I wish I had not updated iTunes because it so often leads to problems of some kind. Why do they not care?

Update: following successful sync of AAC files, I changed the setting to 'manual' for music & videos, used the View menu to restore the old sidebar, and manually added the Lossless files to the IPod. That actually seems to be working (very slowly). But it would be better if Sync worked as it should.

80 GB Ipod Classic does not show up in itunes or Win Vista Machine

Hi, I recently updated my itunes software with ver.8 and since then my 80 GB Classic ipod does not show up in itunes or in my computer. Hence, I am not able to sync my itunes. When I connect my ipod it just shows "Connected - Eject before disconnecting" and just freezes there. Pls help?

My ipod normally works fine on my PC, XBOX, laptop and Mac.. but sometimes, unpredictably, it wont be recognized by anything apart from the mac. For a month it would not connect at all and I took it in to an Apple store where they told me it works fine. Its not my PC.. its up to date, and theres no reason why it doesnt work on my XBOX because some times it does.. last night it did, today its broken again, I suspect tomorrow it may work. This is SO frustrating!!
I have alot of experience in PC's and normally I can solve a problem by process of elimination, updating and reinstalling, but in this case.. everything seems fine. My only idea is that maybe its my Sync cable?? Which also makes no sense because it generally connects fine on the mac - and, why would a sync cable be unpredictable.. surely it either works or it doesnt. HELP PLEASE!!

Please help, I have researched every forum I can find and all the suggested tips have not worked for me. Here is my problem.....
I have a new laptop and a new iPod classic. I have checked and both have the most up to date software. I have logged into iTunes and all the music and films I had purchased previously is showing.
I thought I simply had to log into iTunes,authorise the laptop, plug in my Ipod and then sync the music and films from iTunes onto my iPod.
When I do the there is a message within seconds to say the iPod sync is completed but the iPod remains empty. I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.
All suggestions gratefully received

Problem solved. It seems that iTunes archived my music to iCloud so once I downloaded all the files again they sync'd rght away

I have a 80gb Classic Ipod. 2 days ago it stopped showing up in iTues or on my desktop when I connected it to the mac. On the iPod it shows "connected" and every so often the display on the ipod shows moves to indicate it is syncing but nothing happens on the mac or itunes. The only place the iPod shows is under Disk Utility.
I have used different ports and usb cables.
Help... I can't get my lovely new tunes on my iPod ....
p.s. I have an iPhone 4 and it connects and syncs with no problem.

New IPod Touch will not show up on iTunes

I just purchased an iPod Touch for my son. When we turned it on, it asked to connect to iTunes. I then started iTunes and was told to update it, which I did, after which I connected the IPod. iTunes would not recognize the iPod Touch. We then uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, with the same problem. So effectively I now have a new iPod Touch in the first phase of getting it to work.
I've checked the drivers, and they are fine
I've checked the Apple services and they are running fine
I've shut down nearly all programs that commence on startup, and the iPod will still not show up
I've used all USB ports on my computer, still no response.
I've rebooted the computer numerous times, it still does not show up.
Thanks in advance for any advise that you can give.

IPod Touch will not show up in iTunes anymore

Hello. I have had my iPod Touch since 2011 and just recently I could not get it to show up in iTunes when I put the USB cable in to sync it. What ends up happening instead is a window appears showing my Apple iPod. I can click it and go into the Internal Storage which only shows my pictures and videos taken with the camera, but no music.
So I tried almost all of the troubleshooting steps here on iTunes support (except for starting all over erasing all songs and data because I am not ready to do that and I do not believe it would do anything with the synchronization process), and unfortunately nothing has worked. I tried the running as admin and compatibility mode and it still just comes up with that window whenever I connect. I ran the diagnostics and the iPod is not showing up (the only red X). I have Windows 8. Is there anything I can do to make iTunes recognize that the iPod is connected to the laptop?

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

IPod Classic Does Not Show Up in iTunes...

I have an iPod classic and a Macbook, and whenever I plug in my iPod it is not recognized in iTunes, in the Finder, or on the desktop.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and that works - but only temporarily. Currently I am having to uninstall/reinstall every time I want to update my iPod, which is not exactly ideal!
I have also tried using a different USB cord, which makes no difference. However, my iPod is recognized on my friend's Dell laptop.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem once and for all?

Make sure you are running the latest version of itunes and quicktime. thats all i can say, hope it works.

My Ipod Classic will not sync to my itunes or even get recognized by the computer.

I have put it on my IHome and it recognizes it there. I do have a PC. I am not sure if it is the USB ports or the Ipod.

Have you carefully worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?
