Ipod classic will only show apple sign and a big red X when I try to do anything? What happened? How do I fix it?

Ipod classic froze and after resetting it, will only show a grey apple sign and a big red X when I try to do anything. Don't know what happened. Don't know how to fix it. Tried everything it says to do in support. At this point I would be happy with getting it back to factory default.

I've had an Ipod Classic for about half a year now, having purchased it new from B&H over the summer, and it's worked just fine. Today, however, upon plugging it into my computer, I was greeted with the "New ipod" screen in itunes. My ipod touch 4G will only show apple logo, and can't be turned on and off?

It eventually runs out of battery but that doesn't change anything. All i can do is hold down the power and home screen button simultaneosly for a while. After this it flashes white then black then back to logo. Anyone know what to do? I plug it into my computer and it doesn't show up or anything. Any suggestions? my itouch hasen't had problems before or anything.

You need to click the link in the e-mail you received to verify.
Then you need to link the valid credit card info to your Apple ID if you want to download anything from Apple Store (iTunes, Apps and iBooks).

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

i got a 30 gb ipod video from someone because they cant get it to work. he said if i could get it to work i could have it so i bought a charger and plugged it into the computer. it said very low battery please wait right at first and had a little circle thing that showed it was loading. now it will only show an apple sign on the screen no matter what i had it plugged in over night i tried reseting it but it just went right back to showing the apple sign is there anything else i can do without sending it to apple because it is not under warranty anymore.

Hello, I am running Windows 8 64 bit with iTunes 11.0.2.26. This is a new PC and this is the first time I have tried to use it with my iPod. My iPod classic does not show up in Windows or in iTunes. The only way I have been able to sync anything is in disk mode. When syncing in disk mode the iPod appears in Windows and then disappears again when it ihas finished.
I have tried removing and reinstalling iTunes, but this has not sorted out the problem. The iPod device troubleshooter can not see the device. I have tried several different usb slots and two different sync cables. I can not see the iPod in device manager.
My iPod model is MB565 version 2.0.1 PC.
I would like to be able to sync my device as normal and to see if there are any updates available for my iPod classic, which as iTunes currently can't see the device, is not possible.
Can anyone help please?

Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
Hope this will solve a lot of problems.

I connect my iPod classic (2007) to my Macbook pro and it shoes as a hard drive and doesn't connect to itunes.
I have tried all sorts of things as I'm normally not stuck when it comes to Mac...however I'm stuck!
I just want music on the iPod whether it's with iTunes or not.

You should read the posts. I would never post without trying the typical troubleshooting. Of course if the troubleshooting steps are IMPOSSIBLE because the ipod is not recognized by itunes, but you have to use itunes to do the troubleshooting... Is that clear... Apple troubleshooting suggested that if I could not locate my ipod in itunes, I locate my ipod in itunes to fix it. In any case, it was apparently a problem on Apple's end. I took the ipod in to the local apple store to be looked at, and of course they couldn't get it to work either. (I think I understand the internals better than anyone who worked there anyway). The newest itunes update came out, and suddenly my ipod started working. Very suspicious. I wish apple would just tell us they screwed up, instead of the disingenuous. "just works"
