Ipod classic won't download music into itunes

When I attach my ipod classic to my computer/itunes, it won't allow me to transfer the music or playlists from my ipod to itunes. However, it allows my itouch to transfer music into itunes.

Your iPod Classic and your iTunes are both functioning normally. You can sync music, videos etc into your iPod Classic from iTunes (as you are) however you cannot do the opposite as you want to do.
There are third party software out there which can make this possible. Do a search on Google and you will run into that third party software.

  • Used ipod classic won't download music?

I bought a used ipod classic and whenever i try to download a song i bought on my touch to my classic it won't.

How are you trying to put the song onto the Classic?
You cannot transfer it directly from the Touch to the Classic
You cannot download anything from the iTunes Store directly onto the Classic.
You put songs onto the Classic via the iTunes programme on your computer.

  • How to download music into itunes

    Hii,
can anyone tell me how to download music into itunes, the present version?

Buy the music from iTunes and it downloads automatically.
There is no other way to download content into iTunes.
Importing music into iTunes is different. Is that maybe what you intended to ask?
If so, go to File > Add File/Folder to iTunes.

  • When I download music into Itunes and move songs into playlists, Itunes has twice randomly deleted all recently added songs from the playlists they have been added to.  It is driving me crazy.  Has anyone else had this problem?

When I download music into Itunes on my PC, every song is transferred into a specific playlist.  Twice now when I have opened up Itunes, all the recent songs that have been moved into playlists have been deleted by Itunes.  I now have to go back and figure out which songs are missing and re-add them.  It is driving me crazy. I have 10,000 songs and now have no idea which ones are missing and which ones have been retained.
Please help.  Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi TRuss08,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like songs are missing from iTunes on your PC, and need to be re-added. I know that can be a frustrating situation.

! have 11,000 songs on my iPod Classic but since downloading the new version of itunes software I am having trouble locating where I can view my full collection to edit/delete. I can add music and see the additions cannot see the full list. Can anyone tell me where I can view them please?

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Download music into itunes from cloud

I want nothing to do with the Cloud.  My phone was automatically put on the cloud with an account even though I specifically said I do not want it. Now my music purchased is automatically being put on the icloud and not directly on my computer hance when transfered to my phone it is on the cloud and I cannot access it if I don't have a strong signal. Also It is not on y hard dive on my computer but on the cloud so If I am on a plane I have no access to it. I have turned my phone completely of cloud but now it will not download music from itunes as it is not actually on my computer.
How do I get music off the cloud and on my computer and completely cut my computer from the cloud.
    thank you
    michael

Music purchased from iTunes Store is always in the Cloud.  That's where Apple stores it and that's where it starts out.  If you want it on your computer you need to download it to your computer.  If you buy it on your phone you can set it to be automatically downloaded to your computer too, or you can transfer it from your phone to your computer.

  • Restored iPod Classic won't download some songs purchased on iTunes

OK, so I just restored my iPod Classic so it could receive software updates through my new Mac Book. But now a few songs that I purchased from iTunes (all more than a year ago) will not upload to my iPod Classic. Songs that I purchased from iTunes during the past few months appear to have uploaded without a problem.

That didn't help directly, but you got me to sign on to iTunes and, to make a long story short, discover that I actually have two iTunes accounts. I think I signed up for the second one mistakenly when I activated my iPhone. All the songs that wouldn't play, were purchased under the account that wasn't yet authorized on this computer.
So now I have a new question for you. Is there any way for me to merge the two iTunes accounts?

  • Ipod Classic won't sync to my Itunes on an external hard drive

So before I could sync my Ipod classic to my Itunes just fine. Then I downloaded episodes of Avatar and suddenly my Ipod won't connect with itunes. I tried connecting it but it didn't work and now all the stuff I had on my ipod is now erased yet somehow its saying I have 2 gb left. I can open my itunes on my computer and play music and t.v shows fine but when I connect my ipod it dosen't open my itunes anymore and seems to only connect the computer like when it connects windows is just like oh hey matts ipod is connected and will open a window with my stuff etc. I have reset my ipod still nothing and I'm scared to reinstall itunes because I will lose my data. Now my external hard drive is disk E and my ipod is disk F if that helps any. Again I just want my t.v shows and music back on my ipod.

by the way when I tried to sync my ipod for the second time it deleted all my music, movies and songs everything I had on there but it still says it has 2 gb left

  • IPOD Classic won't show up in Itunes 9.0.2.25

Hello, Hopefully someone here can help me. I upgraded from Itunes 7.6 to 9.02.25. It looked like it loaded fine, I downloaded music to the library, but when I plugged my IPOD in, it dings, says "connecting" on the IPOD screen, but never shows up in ITUNES. It does list under my computer, for about 3 seconds, before it says "ejecting" and disconnects itself. I have tried everything at this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363 - twice - including doing a full recovery on my computer. I tried switching the usb cable and port, I've rebooted the ipod several times - and in disk mode 2x, I also tried the troubleshooting here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493. Basically, I've deleted itunes about 20 times and reloaded. I finally thought, screw it and tried to load 7.6 back (i have it on disc, as I live in a rural area and couldn't freaking download it a couple years ago) but i just get an error that I can't download the 7.6 version as I have a newer library. BTW, Apple support basically said, Yep. sounds like a problem. Never heard of that before. What the heck is left to do?

Solved it. In my case, I had used a utility program I found in my Utilities folder called iPod Software Updater that I tried to updated the iPod software with... (it looked like it worked and then I used the restore function, which deleted all the music)...but it would still not appear in iTunes. Finally after a few hours of resets and restarts, I pressed the select and play keys for 6 secs and triggered a reset while I had the iPod plugged into the computer. Bingo...it showed up in iTunes and prompted me to download new software...which I did and now its back. Geez Apple, how did the iPod become such a killer product with an interface like this? So I assume this utility was for a different iPod model or older version OS.

  • IPod Classic won't sync and crashes iTunes. Suggestions?

Hi, hopefully someone can help me!
I have a 80GB iPod classic for 3/4 years, never had any syncing issues until now that weren't fixable by a reset.
However a few days ago I was at my parents' house and charged my iPod using their computer. The first time there was the standard message "This iPod is synced with another library" etc etc but subsequently it crashed iTunes. It was recognised by the computer as a portable media device, all the normal folders were there etc.
Now that I'm with my regular laptop, I'm having the same issues but have realised that the iPod won't sync. It crashes iTunes when it's connected and when I disconnect the iPod, should iTunes works but it displays the message: "The iPod cannot be synced. The required folder could not be found"
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've tried updated my iTunes software and resetting the iPod (pushing menu and centre), but neither has had an effect.
Edit: I should add that since charging the iPod on the other computer, I have also had issues with the click wheel, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance!

My ipod classic will not dowload any music from itunes it says corrupt, and it will not restore the device

  • IPod Classic won't copy playlists to iTunes 12.1

I have a first gen iPod Classic 160gb. It has numerous playlists on it. I recently had to wipe the computer I use for iTunes and lost all the playlists I had. I thought, no matter, they are on the iPod and I can transfer them back over (because I actually OWN all my music).
However, the "export" option for playlists no longer pops up when I right-click playlists under the iPod device. Is this a new "feature" Apple has instituted to make my iPod obsolete or is there some other way to get playlists from an iPod Classic to iTunes on my computer?

Hi Scott Miller3. there seems to be a lot of problems with the new version of i tunes, and the "older" devices. In my case i tunes will not sync all my music videos, as it did before the i tunes update. maybe apple wants us to buy newer i pods....  phil..

  • HELP!! iPod Classic won't show up in iTunes, and FREEZES when I try

Last night, I hooked my iPod Classic to my computer to sync it. It didn't show up in iTunes, and instead, it froze, quite suddenly. I had to wait until the battery ran down, then charge it up again(luckily, all my music and video were still present). Today, I tried once again to hook it up. This time, the "Connected/Eject before disconnecting" screen appeared, so I figured it was working(that didnn't happen last night, it just froze immediatly). Unfortunately, I was wrong. It still hasn't shown up in iTunes, and now, it's frozen again!
    WHAT is going on?

Ummm....ok, thanks for answering the completely irrelevant question that someone else asked, but how about dealing with the actual topic of this thread?!
Seriously, why did my iPod Classic freeze when I tried to hook it up??? It happened twice. It seems to be working now, but still, I'm concerned.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen - downloaded music using itunes (mac) and have now discovered it won't play on my JVC car stereo.

It says it can't read the files and when I looked up the car stereo manual it says it won't read any files not done on windows media.  Is there any easy solutions around this? as it was purchased solely for use with the car stereo... :-(

If you want to make song files from your iTunes library available on your car audio system, and it connects using a USB port, a new iPod nano is a very expensive way to do it.  If that's the only reason for getting the iPod nano, you should return it and get a cheap 8 or 16GB USB flash drive instead, which costs less than $20.  Here's one that barely sticks out of the USB port.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/SanDisk/SDCZ33016G/
You can then leave it connected in the car all the time, except for when you want to update the songs.  An iPod is more fragile (especially screen and battery), and you'll have to always remember to remove it, in case the car overheats or freezes.  It would also be a target for thieves.
For the audio file format, I can't believe any car audio system would ONLY play Window Media files, and not the most common type of audio files, MP3.  Songs purchased from the iTunes Store, and those ripped from music CD (using the default settings), are in AAC format.  It's possible the car system does not play AAC.  So, I would try songs from your iTunes library that are in MP3 format.
You can use iTunes to convert songs from AAC (or any iTunes supported format) to MP3.  So, if MP3 works, and you need details on how to convert audio format using iTunes, please post back.  You cannot convert to WMA format (which is Windows Media audio) using iTunes.
