IPod Classic- Won't finish sync

PLEASE HELP!!
I recently restored my IPOD CLASSIC 80G but now, when I try to sync, it works for a while before freezing and making iTunes crash so I have to force quit- This leaves NO SONGS AT ALL on my ipod
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN! ANY SUGGESTIONS!!?

Looks like your iPod Hardisk is dying.
Do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, as posted earlier by tt2, sorry, it won't fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.
Have a nice day!

  • IPod touch won't finish syncing on iTunes

My ipod touch won't finish syncing. it's been on step 7 of 7 forever... it's a third generation itouch and the version of itunes is 10.6, the latest version.

First, try to reset the iPod by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again.
See if you can sync after that.
Are you syncing podcasts as well? If yes, try without selecting podcasts, or delete the podcasts on the device before you sync.

  • IPod Classic won't fully sync with OS Mavericks

I have recently upgraded my MacBook Pro OS to Mavericks. I have just plugged in my iPod to it to update contacts, calendars, etc and to my horror find that this is no longer possible. I have the same problem with my iPhone 3G - the chap in the store said that Apple has changed the sync process for data so that it can only be done via the Cloud - neither the iPod Classic or iPhone 3G can access the Cloud. This is an outrageous degradation of usability of items which are still fully functional. When will they reinstate the plug-in type of syncing for data?

I was having this same problem and tried many things. All of a sudden it started working, I just finished syncing my whole library. The only things I've done since my last failure was, 1. Let it sit(I just left it alone for a day, I know it sounds weird, but I wonder if it had to completely shut down, not sure) 2. I downloaded an updated bonjour (I don't know what this would have to do with the iPod, but I synced right after and it worked). I'm not sure if it will work with yours, but at least they don't involve a big production. Hope it works for you.

  • Ipod touch won't finish sync

When i try and sync my ipod touch the message reads "itunes cannot back up ipod because an error has occured". Any ideas anyone?

Try to delete the latest backup in the list in iTunes/Preferences/Devices and then sync again.
Copy the whole backup folder located here
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
to a safe place before you delete the backup, in case you need it to restore info again.

same has happened to me,  on and off,   for the last 6 months.   Its an issue with the Mavericks system and ipod classics.    works great for a while -  then one day for no reason - erases the entire iPod.   some days the copmputer will not recognize the iPod and you have to start over.  Apple will tell you that "you" may have a disc problem in the device.  that is all the help I have received.

First try to resolve #2 by:

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

If you can resolve #1 and still get same message for #1 then you have to restore the iPod like the message says.

  • IPod Classic won't sync to PC

My iPod Classic won't sync with iTunes on  my PC. An error message is received stating that there is not enough memory available to sync, but I have 101 GB free on the iPod. I'm using iTunes Version 10.6.3.25 on a PC with the Vista operating system. The iPod operating system is 2.0.1 PC.

It sounds like your PC may be too low on memory (RAM) or Hard Drive in for the iPod to sync properly with iTunes.  Try rebooting your PC to see if that helps.  Then run only iTunes and try to resync your iPod.

  • IPod classic won't sync

Two iTunes updates ago my iPod classic stopped being recognized by iTunes and I can not longer sync my music. I tried uninstalling and installing an older version of iTunes but that didn't solve anything. My laptop recognizes my ipod though. and my ipod with start to sync but nothing happens. The ipod icon in iTunes also pops up for a less than a second and then my classic only says "connected". so yea I am a little sad about this.

Beware! I tried this and my iPod Classic said it was syncing but all that happened is that it erased most of the content on my and now NOTHING WILL SYNC. The thing is now basically a paperweight...

  • Ipod touch won't finish restore

ipod touch won't finish restore.  It has apple logo with almost completed bar and it stops.  itunes still says restoring ipod software.  Just updated itunes.

I had the same problem and the sad thing is that you wont find any solution, I left my ipod over night with the apple logo screen and the loading bar almost full but it wouldnt move, next day it was still there, I had to unplug it, and I'm pretty sure this cause irreversible damage to your device in the long term since itunes warn you no to disconnect the ipod while the sync is being done and it also messed up my computer, I had to force it to shut down since it got stuck with itunes trying to restore my ipod, you just need to keep conecting your ipod until itunes recognize it as an ipod in recovery mode then it will sync again and everything should work this time, that is what happened to me. Good luck.

  • WON'T FINISH Syncing . (error -48)or 1033, -69

Itunes WON'T FINISH SYNCING. (error -48)or 1033, -69. It hangs up on a new song each attempt. I have deleted the sticking song each failure.
    Here's what I've tried:
    A) unchecked all Recently added songs and delted skipped disc tracks, as well as
those mp3's brought over via drag n drop.
    1) updated Itunes, restored Ipod 14 times.
    2) restored ipod from PC/Itunes 12 times.
    3) updated USB drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled
    4) ran MS disk scan /repair 15 times.
    5) tried all 4 USB ports
    6) ran diagnostics and it said it couldn't find Ipod, (although in itunes margin it showed Ipod). I clicked HELP and it took me to an apple support page that had nothing to do with my particular error/ diagnositc result. OF COURSE , THAT WOULD BE TOO LOGICAL!
Diagnostics should trouble shoot this until it's fixed. No such process.
    Any help?

Bump. I am having this problem also on my 160 GB Ipod. I have restored a ton of times and have use multiple computers to load songs from (thank God for my EXT. HD) If any one can help i would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

  • Ipod classic won't mount after updating to itunes 11.0.2

ipod classic won't mount after updating to itunes 11.0.2.
I updated to itunes 11.0.2 today, after delaying it for a looong time (I have it @ work and don't like the new layout).
Since then, none of my ipods will mount/show up/update. I've tried all USB ports, 3 ipods, 3 cords. Wondering if you know of any issues. I've restarted the mac about 15-20 times today since as soon as I hook up an ipod, itunes immediately spins the beach ball and won't let me click out of it.
I've restarted the ipods 10+ times each.
All of the ipods DO show up on my desktop though. Just not in itunes anywhere with 11.0.2.
One more thing: It's not the cables or the ipods: they both mount fine when connected to my laptop (running old *** 10.4.11 and itunes 9.)
Machine is a Mac Pro running 10.6.8.

Finding this Post took some time but I thought it was me talking when I read it. I was having the exact same issue. I have a G3 I've been upgrading like mad, including a Sonnet G4-500 CPU a Maxtor 60gb & 80gb HDs 1gb of RAM a new LaCie Firewire800 PCI card Graphics card etc. the latest was installing Panther 10.3.9 on the new 80gb HD and also swapping out the old CD-ROM and replacing with the (Apple standard) Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D combo drive in it's place. got everything up and booted and poof! no burning. Toast worked read/write no problem. iTunes could read and import no problem, but wouldn't burn a CD.
Downloaded "PatchBurn 3.1.3" installed, re-booted and all is OK in burner land again :>)
I wanted to just post my additional thanks to the lead to Patchburner, and I'm going to donate to the cause. It's worth a $20 donation just for my joy of not throwing this computer out the window!!

  • HT2553 My ipod classic 160gb cannot be synced by my windows vista. the library is copied alright but cannot be synced into the ipod; HELP! !

My ipod classic 160gb cannot be synced by my windows vista computer. The library is copied alright, but the ipod cannot be synced; Help! How can I overcome this, please?

    Hi, Chris,
    I mean, when I load my itune library as usual and the syncing starts, I get the problem as described as follows;
When I try to sync, I see the songs being copied then I get a message, say after about 45minutes, that, itunes cannot read the ipod contents because the ipod data drive is corrupt. I have tried different things to no avail. It is very fraustrating, and if I may say so, very disturbing.
I hope somebody can help me, for I can see now that, many people have got similar problems and they haven't been able to solve. I understand this is a common ipod problem and many people have had to abandone their ipods after such problems. It is very hurting because ipods are very expensive to buy, and so to write it off like that is very dis-heartening.

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.
