Ipod Classics automatically switches to repeat one song!

Hi, hoping someone can help. I have an issue with my ipod classic when connected to my car stereo, after a while of playing and especially after forwarding a few songs using the stereo controls the settings automatically switches to repeat one song, how do I solve this?

Please do a Hard Reset  as below
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

(Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

What do you mean "doesn't recognize"?

  • Repeat one song

Is there any way to repeat one song, from the "now playing" screen, without going back to the main menu?

I'm quite sure you have to change the settings in the Settings menu to do that. Go the the Settings menu, then select Repeat. The variations are: Off, One, and All.

  • When connected to my 2014 Buick Enclave, the iPod touch automatically begins to repeat songs.

Hi - When connected to my 2014 Buick Enclave via USB, the repeat function on the iPod touch automatically engages and the songs repeat. I have to manually disengage the repeat function to finish an album, then do it again when the next album begins to repeat. There is no "repeat" button on the Enclave's system, only "shuffle", which works fine with the iPod. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

First I would go the the car system's support site.
    Next:
    - Reset the car system.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod Classic will not play newly downloaded songs

Ok, I recently downloaded some new MP3's (from a 3rd party site, mp3fiesta.com) into iTunes. The songs play perfectly on iTunes and they also have no issue playing on my iPhone 16. On the other hand, they refuse to play on my iPod classic 160. I use the classic in my car, and it's what I play 99% of my music through. It pretty much worked flawlessly until I downloaded these new songs. I re-formatted it last night, and did a re-synch as well....but it still won't play these songs. It skips over them and then goes to the main menu...
    HELP!!!

I have the same issue. Additionally, I'll select one song to play and the ipod will play another in the same grouping. I switched ipods, restored to factory, synced and the same issue with the same songs. What is going on?

  • IPod Classic not syncing past say ~500 songs, -50, -69, -1404 etc.

OK So I have the Ipod Classic 120GB model. I've had issues with it before, mainly after the first time I accidentally took the iPod out when it wasn't done syncing. Anyway the 2 or 3 times my library got wiped I was able to get it back (process of finding which songs were causing the sync to fail and reformatting iPod)
Anyway, a few weeks ago I was trying to give my brother some of my songs and I had used a program for my older ipod (a 5G Ipod Video 30GB) I'd used successfully in the past to copy the library to my computer called CopyTrans or something like that.
I tried it with the 6G and it got halfway done then the iPod froze or just failed, my brother got no songs on his computer (running XP) and my iPod got wiped. I wasn't mad since I figured I'd just restore it (running iTunes 10 on Windows 7).
It's been about a month and I have not been able to get my whole library on my iPod. I've tried reformatting under every setting, numerous restores, trying different iPod USB cables (for some reason my older one with the side release buttons works better at times, the others sync to fast and just freeze and fail sometimes).
My iPod will begin syncing usually fine, until it gets around ~500 songs or gets to certain songs then it will display Connected and just sit there (on iTunes 8-9 the whole iTunes would just freeze) iTunes 10 seems to keep running and the iPod section just freezes and for not as long, it usually comes back within 3-4 min, but with error codes and not syncing everything I asked it too.
I've even tried unchecking and converting the songs that mess up (Create an MP3/AAC version) which seemed to be working at first but now is not and I have numerous copies of songs in my Lib.
Any help is appreciated? Should I take it to an Apple Store? Is there any other methods to try or is my HD pretty much shot.

*Check your iPod with Diagnostics Mode*
It's possible that your iPod's hard drive has started to fail. Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for *Manual Test*, then select *IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData* to reveal your stats. For comparison here are mine for my 2 year old 6th Generation Classic:
    Retracts: 889
    Reallocs: 12
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 2202
    Start/Stops: 894
    Temp: Current 24c
    Temp: Min 10c
    Temp: Max 50c
Take a note of your results. When finished press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again.
With modern disc drives sectors are no longer marked bad by a disc scan, if the SMART firmware detects a sector it has trouble accessing it will attempt to invisibly reallocate it to a spare area of the disc.
Note that I've only 12 remapped sectors and none pending. To help explain what the numbers mean here is an extract from the Wikipedia S.M.A.R.T. article:
    *Reallocated Sectors Count*
Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks this sector as "reallocated" and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and "reallocated" sectors are called remaps. This is why, on modern hard disks, "bad blocks" cannot be found while testing the surface – all bad blocks are hidden in reallocated sectors. However, as the number of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to decrease. The raw value normally represents a count of the number of bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate.
    *Pending sector count*
Number of "unstable" sectors (waiting to be remapped, because of read errors). If an unstable sector is subsequently written or read successfully, this value is decreased and the sector is not remapped. Read errors on a sector will not remap the sector (since it might be readable later); instead, the drive firmware remembers that the sector needs to be remapped, and remaps it the next time it's written.
Large numbers of Reallocs or Pending Sectors would suggest your drive is failing and that you may need to repair or replace your iPod. Check your stats after another attempt to update your iPod. If the numbers increase that again points to hard drive failure. While it won't be good news at least you'll know it isn't some random software problem and you can decide what to do next.

  • I want to down load songs from my ipod classic to my itunes.  the songs are from someone elses computer

i bought an ipod classic.  somebody downloaded their music to it.  I want to save that music to my itunes.  how do i do this.  I know I can;t keep anything they bought but I would like the rest of the music. can anyone help me

    The rest of what music?
Since you know you are not entitled to keep music purchased by someone else, and since the music on the iPod was placed on it by someone else (who presumably bought it), what exactly do you think you can keep?
If "the music you wish to keep" is actually free of copyright (in other words, it can be freely copied and distributed to anyone), then presumably you can obtain that music from the same source that it came from originally. Since you would need to confirm for yourself that it is free of copyright, your best bet would be to locate that music from a legally available source rather than someone else's iPod.
If the music was given away free to the person who originally owned the iPod, you would still need to ensure that it's "free of copyright" and that it would be legal for you to keep it. The fact that one person legally obtained it for free does not automatically mean that anyone else can have a copy of it. Once again, you would need to confirm the facts.
As far as I know, Apple still do not allow anyone here to discuss methods of copying someone else's purchased music onto your iTunes, so even if anyone here knew how to do it, they cannot tell you.

  • IPod Classic 80GB stops Synchronization after 2500 Songs

I have got an iPod Classic 6th Gen with 80 GB and Software version 1.1.2. I use the newest iTunes version and Windows 7 x64.
I recently resetted the iPod and wanted to sync my complete library to the iPod again. But now it always fails to finish the synchronization. After ca. 2500 songs the process bar does not proceed anymore and on the iPod display it says "Connected" instead of "Synchronizing". If I wait a few minutes iTunes throws an Error "Copy failed; please check your CD drive or internet connection" (I use the german version, so this might not be the original text). If I click OK on this error a warning appears like: "iTunes could not copy song X to iPod, due to unknown reason (-53)". If i unplug the iPod it has about 200-300 songs on it. When I unplug the iPod before the error popup appears, it has 0 songs on it. When I reconnect the iPod it says there are 0GB music but 5-10GB other data on the iPod (this yellow bar; seems that he thinks, that the synchronized music files are something else than music).
When I synchronize the iPod maually and select less than 2500 songs the synchronization usually works. But if I start adding songs the same error as above will occur sooner or later.
I tried this with different iTunes versions and different operationg systems (Win 7 and XP) I even tried synchronizing with Windows Media Player and the Dopisp plugin. The error always occurs when i synchronize more than 2500 songs (one time I got at least 4500). I already tried it more than 20 times. I resetted the iPod via iTunes; formatted it, deleted my library and added the songs again, synchronized step by step (Sync about 100 songs, wait to finish, than sync the next 100 songs, ...), nothing helped.
    Can someone please help me?

    DragonBall,
I don't have my ipod with me to check this, but I beleive when I disconnect my headphones, the ipod pauses. I have seen several complaints about pauses and hesitations. When I get home I am gong to play with this for a few minutes. The point I am getting to the long way around is, if you have a bad connection at the headphones, electrically that could be very close to the same thing as disconnecting your headphones. When it pauses, is the ipod being moved, like walking around with the cable wagging around. Also, if I understand correctly, you are using the same set of headphones with both units that are doing the same thing. Don't know if this will solve your problem, but good luck.

  • IPod Classic 160 gb not playing some songs..

I got my iPod Classic last week, and everything was fine until I went to listen to the music on the iPod with my headphones not through my computer. One of my songs wouldn't start playing. So, I took the song off and re-added it back. That song started to work but then another one started doing the same thing, and it keeps doing it. Every now and then when I try to play the iPod will freeze. I plug it back into my computer and then the song works. I don't know what the problem is. Can anyone help?

I had the same problem with my iPod classic 80 GB. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple support this morning. It is interesting that I could still sync my iPhone and an older iPod, just not the Classic - so I suspected either a hardware or Mac software issue. The solution (I think) is that the permission in OS X for the device is not recognized. After restoring my iPod to factory settings, and completely deleting and reloading a new copy of iTunes, I am now able to get my Mac to recognize this iPod. Following the instructions found here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8342.html
I was able to add permission for the "administrator" to have read and write privileges on this device. That seems to have solved the problem. Thanks to Ryan at Apple Expert for the troubleshooting. Good luck!
