IPod clickwheel charger with iPod Nano?

I have an iPod, the first one with the clickwheel, and now im thinking of buying a Nano and wanted to know if i will be able to use the charger i got with the old iPod with the Nano. The charger i have is the knid that you connect to the iPod with a FireWire cable. Thanks!
  Windows XP

Yes, you can use this charger. Although the nano won't transfer data via firewire, it will charge.

    Can anyone help ?
    please?

WHow long have you left it to charge?  Have you tried resetting it after a short period of time to see if that can help jumpstart the charging process? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • HT1476 Will the ipod touch charge with a wall charger?  I tried to use a wall charger by Nook and it didn't work.

Will the ipod touch charge with a wall charger?  I tried to use a NOOK wall charger, but the ipod touch wouldn't charge.

Likely the Nook charger does not provide enough power to charge the iPod with the screen on. You can try leaving the charger connected overnight (iPod sleeping) and see if it is charged in the morning.

  • Ipod wont charge with firewire

    Hi,
I'm using a clickwheel (4g) ipod with my laptop. For the past 6 months or so I've been using the USB port to charge transfer files. As you know USB is slow so I invested in a USB 2.0 card yesterday.
This is where the problems start, first of all it wouldnt recognise the ipod. I got the latest updater/itunes software did all the resets etc. And it started to work sporadically after powering down the PC a few times.
I read on this board that USB 2.0 sometimes just plain doesn't seem to work with Ipods, so went back to the store and exchanged it for a firewire card.
This works fine, except for one issue...
The Ipod will not charge, it only charges if I disconnect it and plug it into the USB 1.0 on my laptop. Is there anyway i can resolve this short of having to change ports in order to charge up.
    PS.
I don't have an AC adaptor, it inexplicably died one day a few months ago, had to borrow a mate at works in order to reset the ipood.

and now the battery has just been drained completely while transferring stuff from itunes!

  • Charging with ipod charger

Just wondering -- the Nano comes with a USB connector, but can i use the charger that came with my 40gb ipod? and connect the Nano to it using my original ipod firewire connector?
    thanks!
or do i have to buy the usb connector/charger.

The nano is compatible for charging with the following Apple-branded accessories (other than the included Dock Connector to USB cable):
iPod USB Power Adapter (for charging)
iPod Dock Connector to FireWire Cable (for charging only, not sync)

  • IPod Touch: charging with Windows 2000 SP3?

    Hello,
I've got an iPod Touch 2nd generation, and I'm a mac user.
At work, I have a Windows 2000 PC, Service Pack 3. I wanted to use this windows machine to charge (with USB) my Touch, but it didn't work directly. So I tried to download iTunes, but it requires SP4 at least.
What can I do? The PC isn't able to give energy to the USB port, if the device isn't recognized?
    Thanks for any help
    Frederic

The following applies to XP and I assume Vista, but I am not sure if this option was in 2000 or not. But you can check...
Well one thing you can try it telling you computer to leave the USB ports on all the time. XP (and I assume Vista) has a power saving mode where the USB ports are powered down if they are not in use by the operating system. I think that is the default mode. This is more of a setting beneficial to Laptops, but if you have a desktop, you might want to disable to power saving modes.
Start -> Control Panels -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device manager
In the window that opens, expand (click on the sign) next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
You will see a number of things in that list. You want to RIGHT-Click on the "USB Root Hub" one. I am not sure if you have more than one if they still point to the same one, but open and change each to be sure. Anyway, right-click it, in the pop up menu pick Properties. In the next screen, pick the Power Management tab. There is a check box to "Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power". I think default is checked, so that the ports power down. You want to unselect that box forcing your USB ports to stay powered up all the time.

  • 4th Gen Ipod only charges with power block

I have 3 different 4th gen ipods, 2 of which will charge up when hooked to USB, firewire, and both my aftermarket Imode stereo and wireless car transmitter/charger.
One of the 4th gen ipods I have will only change when hooked with a firewire cable to the power block. It will not charge in any other manner. Is this a problem with the circuitry inside the ipod or something else? The battery seems to hold its charge just fine otherwise.

One of the 4th gen ipods I have will only change when hooked with a firewire cable
Are you sure it is also a 4G iPod? A 3G iPod (does not have click wheel) can only charge using FireWire. If they are all identical looking 4G iPods (with click wheel), the one that does not change over USB probably has a problem with it's USB charging connection. You could try using the Restore button in iTunes, but it seems like a hardware issue.

  • Charging with iPod cord.  Seems to be charging even when it says not charging in the upper right corner.  Is this what happens when I don't use it's charger?  And is that ok?

Charging iPad 2 with IPod cord.  Seems to be charging even when it say not charging in the upper right corner.  Is it because I'm not using the cord it came with, and is it ok to use an iPod cord.

The dock connector to USB cables are interchangeable on the iPod and iPad. That's not a problem. You must be trying to charge using a USB port on your Computer. If the port supplies enough power, the iPd will charge albeit very very slowly  - as long as the Computer is turned on and it is awake.
You should really use the power adapter that comes with the iPad and it will charge much faster. Using the iPod cord is fine - switch to the supplied power adapter for the best results.

  • My ipod isnt charging with amazon lighting.

So recently my apple Ipod charger brokeand i bought an amazon brand lighting charger. While waiting my ipod died. So when the amazon charger arrived I plugge it in. I waited an hour and nothing has happened. It looks like a battery with 3 tiny red bars in it. It also does not sync. Am I able to fix it without going to a store? Or do I just need to buy an apple lighting charger?

  • Iphone charging with ipod car installed link is this possible?

I have an Acura TL and I had the ipod link added at the dealer, I was wondering if it is possible to plug the iphone into this link to charge the iphone like it was an ipod?

Start by calling Apple Support at the country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 as the info from the person you talked with is incorrect.
You can leave the MBP with a full charge with no problems, in fact that is the best thing to do.
The iPhone charging did not damage the MBP battery, the failure of that battery is another issue.
When you say you bought the MBP charger on-line, is it an Apple charger or third-party charger?  Many thiord-party chargers do not output the correct power (voltage and current) for the computer and do cause damage to the battery and charging circuitry.
Talk with the Apple Support people and see what they recommend and how to proceed.

  • Is it safe to use a 4G iPod charger with iPod classic?

I want to make sure my old charger won't fritz my new iPod. Am I going to damage the battery or anything by using this older charger? I used the old charger with my first iPod classic, but experienced battery problems (10 hours or less of play time, audio only, 15% screen brightness and less than 50% volume) and got it replaced under my AppleCare protection plan. I'm not sure that the older charger caused these problems, but I want to make sure...

The old charger won't cause a problem. I'm still using Firewire chargers from my third gen iPod.
