IPod compatible subscription service - any hope?

Does anyone know if there are any plans for iTunes or some other service to provide a subscription service that is compatible with the iPod like Napster and Yahoo are with, say, iRiver or Creative Zen players? I love the ability to check out a HUGE variety of music without having to pay 99 cents.
I would love an iPod but I can't use it with these. Any hope of a future subscription service?

Well, it doesn't seem very likely right now
But (I know this would be time-consuming) I believe you could purchase the songs from napster/yahoo and burn them to CDs and re-rip them into iTunes. That's the best solution I can think of.

Help with possibly dead ipod .... any hope?

While listening to my Ipod, it suddenly sounded like it was dying - the music slowed down - like when a cassette tape gets twisted or runs out of battery life. The screen froze. I know it was fully charged - the previous day I charged it until it indicated that I could disconnect - and the green battery icon was near full before it seized up. I tried reset to no avail. The screen went blank Plugged into to PC to try and charge, but screen stays blank and the pc doesn't recognize it.
Is there any hope for my ipod?
(I'm in India - there are no service centers listed on the Apple web page)
Any help from fellow Ipod users would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link. There may be some hope - as it seems that I might just have to keep trying. I did try plugging it into the pc to charge, but no response. I read somewhere that I have to wait 30 minutes or so for it to get enough charge to be recognized - assuming that it's the battery.
Do you have any insight as to why the song that was playing just slowly died - slowed down and sounded warped - could this be what happens with a disk drive when the battery goes? Maybe then all I need to do is charge it...

IS Subscription service any good for World travell...

I will be travelling to, and living in, perhaps 12 or so countries in the next 12 months - eg USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, Argentina... I want to make calls to the UK primarily (landlines and mobiles) and to Spain (landline). Is there any form of unlimited world service that I should consider or am I better off staying with pay as you go top up service given the range of countries from which calls will be made. The subscription service appears o be based upon the assumption that the calls will all originate in one country to multiples; not the other way round...

With Skype subscriptions it doesn't matter where you are, subscription will work the same way.
If you purchase a UK subscription then it doesn't matter where you are calling from, calls to UK are still covered.
With Unlimited World you can't make calls to UK mobiles, only landline: www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/pay-monthly/#UnlimitedWorld
This should make subscription a perfect choice for travels.
You can combine UK landlines & mobile subscription with Spain subscription: www.skype.com/go/subscriptions
Or you can get Unlimited World to cover UK, Span landlines and for UK mobiles you can get a separate subscription or use Skype Credit.
Skype Credit (pay as you go) is more suitable if you don't make lot of calls, only once in a while. With Skype Credit there will be also connection fee per call: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1050/How-much-is-the-connection-fee
With subscriptions you don't pay connection fee and if you use up all the minutes then even rate/min should be less that with Skype Credit.

Garmin GPS not compatible with Firefox - any hope in the future?

Hi there, I've just bought a new Garmin GPS for car. To start it up you need to register the unit. To register the unit you have to download their plug in. When I try to I get a message to say that it isn't compatible with Firefox 5. I'd rather not change from Firefox, so I'm just wondering if it will be compatible in the near future? It appears to have been compatible with Firefox 3.6+ - so perhaps you could tell me how to revert to that if possible for now? Thank you, Eva

Compatibility of the Garmin Communicator Plugin is up to Garmin. Look for an updated version of that Plugin at the Garmin web site.

What makes a player compatible with subscription servic

Hi all, this is my first post. I've been a Rhapsody subscriber for a year, and I want to upgrade to Rhapsody To Go. I have a MuVo TX FM, which is not compatible. What makes these things compatible or incompatible with subscription services? I just bought it last year, and I really don't wanna have to buy a new player just to transfer music thru a subscription service. Hope you don't mind me asking why? - As long as they've got a F/W connector how does the source media make any difference? - In fact, I would think that shuttling around would be faster with HD's or DVD's.....

Hello i dropped my ipod in the toilet (clean water). Once i took it out of the toilet i pressed the home button and within a second it shut off! :( I quickly dried it with a towel and accidently pressed the top button! D: and put it immediatly into a bag of rice. 3-4 hours passes and i tried to turn it on nothing happened. I honestly tjougjt it would be dry...stupidly! and now its on the rice and has been in there for an hour since the last time i triwd turnong it on. Is there any hope that my ipod will be okay? and if not could it be repaired? How much is it to repair? Hey Posada143, You can still try the rice thing, but do not expect much, as roaminggnome has stated. The rice only works if you do it ASAP and leave the iPod off-- do not attempt use, turn on or charge until it is completely dried out. This is probably academic at this point but remember this for the next time: The drying can take 10 days. You put the uncooked rice and iPod in a sealed bag, change the rice every couple of days. This creates a low humidity environment and draws the moisture out of the iPod, but it takes time. Turn your iPod on to earlier, and you run the risk of shorting out, damaging the components inside. Even if done correctly it can spotty. If you do get the iPod to work (and this may require Resetting, Restoring or attempting to place it in DFU recover mode) the first thing you do is make backups, because you never know how long it will continue to work. As for your pictures, if you can't get your iPod to work, you can try data retrieval companies, however; there is no guaranty it will work and it tends to be very expensive. In the future get in the habit of as making backups, because you just don't know. And invest in and use a water tight case. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.

Any hope for music folders on the ipod Touch?

It is getting VERY difficult to manage my music on my 32 Gb iPod Touch. I have hundreds of playlists (for example one playlist for every version of a classical piece; on playlist for a pop album, etc. etc.)
Is there any hope for music folders as in iTunes on the Touch?

Why do you have a playlist for every album? If your tracks are tagged properly, you can just use the album menu on the Touch.
As for when/if there will be folders on the Touch, the only people who know are probably working under non-disclosure agreements. Who knows what will change when version 2.0 of the software comes out next month.

I accidentally washed my iPod nano. Is there any hope for it?

I stuck my iPod nano in my pocket, and yes, forgot to take it out before my sister washed our clothes. Right after it got washed, I plugged it in to my computer, and it did turn on, just with a little distortion on the screen. It has been about a month now though, and the iPod won't turn on at all, even when it is plugged in. But iTunes recongizes that the iPod is plugged in.
Is there any hope for my iPod, or would it be better just to save for a new one?

I think that when you turned it on after it was washed, that was the end. If it's been a month and won't turn on, I would assume it probably won't ever. Start saving your money. Apple has refurbished models that carry the same warranty as new units and they are $50 less. Check these out:

A PPC G5 cannot run any version of OS X beyond Leopard 10.5.8.
You should be able to find a Leopard retail (black) install disk on eBay. A grey update disk is machine specific and won't work.

Which operating system are you using?
Resetting the photoshop preferences might cure the problem.
Press and hold down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys down just after starting the launch of photoshop 7
(Shift-Command-Option on a mac)
Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop settings file
Press Yes

I have not had any experience in getting any devices repaired so I'm not sure which store to resort to. An official Apple store should more than likely get you what you need, but I'm guessing it's probably more expensive. (if any cost for your situation)

The iPod 3g will only support iOS up to 4.2.1 and nothing beyond that.

Computer AND iPod both crashed at the same time, any hope getting my music?

My computer and my iPod both stopped working at the same time! iPod is totally non-responsive and getting sent in for repairs, and computer is the same but they will wipe out my hard drive. Is there any hope at all getting my music back???

If you didn't have your music backed up, the chances are small. Have you checked with your computer repair center as to whether or not they can recover anything off the drive before they have to wipe it?

As a retired person on limited income, it is very disappointing to me that Adobe have introduced the 'Creative Cloud' (CC) subscription service in order for me to be able to continue upgrading this excellent product. It will be for me too expensive at the minimum cost of £9 per month. The additional services that CC brings are personally of no relevance or usefulness. Adobe should be prepared to support existing users who are, like myself, non commercial, amateur photographers by giving them the simple opportunity to upgrade to Lightroom 6 as a standalone, perpetual licence product. As a member of a camera club I know my co-members who use Lightroom are equally disappointed by this move to a subscription-only service.

Yes, but when I bought my standalone license and clicked on the "Download" button it took me to the LightroomCC page. The downloaded file is named Lightroom 6, but in the CC app the installed program is LightroomCC (2015).
