Ipod completely dead and updater error

my ipod is completely gone. I had the folder and exclamation point, and then tried to turn on my ipod. an apple appeared and my ipod screen then went blank. I have tried charging it, updating it and I followed the instructions. My screen is no longer working. I plugged it into the computer where it says "this device can perform faster" (as it usually does) but itunes can't find it, it doesn't show up in my computer, and my screen won't work any more.

You probably have a hardware problem with your iPod. Try turning it on and if you hear several loud clicks (louder than the scroller when played through the iPod speaker), you have a hardware problem. If you hear the noise or can't seem to fix it, you should probably take your iPod in to your local Apple Store.

  • My ipod is completely dead and wont charge. What should I do?

Ipod completely dead and wont charge. I've had it plugged in for days to multiple things. never happened before. please help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPhone 4 is completely dead and won't charge, turn on, no signs of life!

My iPhone 4 is completely dead and won't charge, turn on, no signs of life! What to do???

Was late to work because my alarm didn't go off on my iPhone this morning! (4 w/ IOS 5)  When I woke up, I went to check my phone and it wouldn't turn on; so I plugged it in to the charger and no response.  I left it plugged in while I was getting ready...came back a shortwhile later...still no signs of life.  At that point, I held both buttons for several seconds and the apple logo appeared and the lock screen displayed shortly thereafter.  And what's odd, is that it showed that I had about 80% of battery life left.  So it seems like something else caused it to shutdown completely.  One note though...I updated to IOS 5 on Sunday...and I've used my phone ever since with no problems.  So this is the first time this has happened since the update.
In looking at a thread on another site, I found this excerpt from an alleged beta tester back in June...and it was in reference to the iPad 2 with IOS 5, but seemed plausible enough to share here:
Issue:  "Hey guys, whenever my iPad 2 is locked for a while, it wont wake from sleep.  I have to give it a hard reset.  Is anyone else having this issue?"
Response:  "I think I isolated the issue....make sure banner notifications are turned off for mail app. If the screen is locked and you get a mail it freezes up causing you to reboot. hope it gets fixed in the next beta!"
Follow-up:  "Did it help you at all? I tried recreating every way I could think of with mail and never could. I'll turn of mail notifications for the rest of the night and see what happens."
"Hey Rick, yes it helped, my iPad no longer shuts off.  I turned off mail banner notifications like Defender2010 said, and at least for now, it doesn't turn off anymore."

My wife spilled a gas of wine on her MacBook Air . Now it's completely dead, and doesn't even show it's being charged.... Any advice is welcome .

Liquids and electricity don't mix. Any hope of surviving a spill is based on immediately turning the device off, getting it as dry as possible, and then letting it have a lengthy drying period. Some people recommend putting it in rice to absorb moisture though I think that has its own danger. At this point your only solution is to take it to an Apple repair center and see what it will cost to replace the logic board - and to hope that was the only damage.
Sorry I couldn't provide better news. Check your home owners policy to see if this is covered (and if it is worth using). I have a specific rider on my policy for electronic equipment which includes full replacement value with no deductible.

What is the best way to recycle old 2010 MacBook?  Also, it is completely dead and I cannot erase hard drive.

Depending on where you are located, country, region, etc, you may have options should
you wish to have it professionally restored or repaired to function properly again...
Even an Apple Store with Genius bar could, in several locations, give the product a look
and perhaps be able to diagnose the underlying issues. However that varies with the
degree of failed components and what is really wrong with it. A battery and a new HDD
could be all that's wrong with it. A diagnostic is often free, even on out-of-warranty Mac
at the Apple Store genius bar; an appointment is advised.
However if you only wanted someone to extract the hard disk drive and attach it to
a 'universal USB drive adapter kit' so at to try and access any readable files on it,
that is something that could be done at an Apple Authorized service provider; as
some of them may even have a section of resale products such as this adapter kit.
An example of this kind of kit includes wires, adapter parts, & a separate power supply
so it can be used to run the hard drive's electronics. This is not intended for permanent
use, but works like a set of patch cables to access the bare drive without an enclosure.
    https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/Universal-Drive-Adapter/IF107-108-1
Another kit example says it'd work with almost any HDD or SSD of several build types:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/U3NVSPATA/
Companies that specialize in restoring Apple portable computers can give you an estimate
on a repair and the good ones can do that without a fee; they will not start a repair after they
see the computer until you get the estimate, and approve of the repair. If other items are
found to be of interest requiring other work or parts, they will also contact you, again before
continuing. One of these kinds of companies I know about (half a hemisphere away) is in
the eastern US, and worth inquiring of even if you are overseas. wegenermedia.com.
While I have no connection with any of these products or service suggestions, they do have
some variety of good reputation (ifixit.com has DIY repair guides; macsales has parts, etc.)
in standing, among many Mac users across a section of the planet...
Any concerns about the data on the hard disk drive should be able to be answered by a
local Apple independent; they also should have the universal USB drive adapter locally.
Not sure if I answered your inquiry, but there are different ways of approaching this matter.
    Good luck & happy computing!

My iPod is dead and won't charge or connect to the computer. How can I fix this? Before it died, it said I had a full battery whenever I charged it, but as soon as it came off of the charger, the battery level was always under ten per cent.

Sounds like the battery needs to be replaced.

  • TS3694 Installation and Updation error again and again!!

I tried to update my ipad3 to iOS7, its failed and showed an "installation and updation error", then i had to go to the service center to get it fixed. Now, again as i try to update it to 7.0.2 its stuck on the installation screen n showing the same error. Is there any way i can get it fixed at home? And why is it happening for the second time?

found that if bonjour (mdns) is unloaded.. i get this error.
This is poor implementation on apples part.
    to re-enable

  • IPOD completely dead! No response at all!

I put my ipod in radio/alarm clock as usual and removed it a few hours later to find it completely unresponsive. Screen stays black and when I try to plug into my computer a window open that reads 'device cannot be recognized and should be replaced'. It has been fully charged but appears completely dead. I am desperate for help. Thanks, Jackie

First, try holding the middle button and the Menu button down simultaneously until the Apple Logo appears (wait 15-20 seconds). If nothing pops up, See if you are still under warranty (one year after purchase, unless you pay extra for apple care, which extends it to 3 years after purchase): https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do;jsessionid=E2E00E2527B4A01D8051D7C64D DF8C23
If you are under warranty, just request a new iPod, send in your old one and you're all set.

  • IPod Mini "Restore and Update" Confusion

hey all... i recently bought an iPod Mini from a friend... anyways i've done the whole "restore and update" thing... but i'm stuck on the last step... where it says to hook up to an external power source or something? can't exactly remember the message it gave... but on my iPod Mini it keeps flashing a picture of an adapter being plugged into power outlets... am i supposed to have some kind of adapter? what's going on?
any help would be awesome... thx!

To complete the update process, connect the iPod to the AC adapter, a car adaptor, a 6-pin FireWire port on a computer, or try this method to charge the iPod. Until you've done one of these things, you can't use the iPod again.
