  • IPhone's iPod content (music and videos) no longer visible!

I just upgraded my iTunes to 7.6 and now, after syncing my iPhone, all of the iPod-type data (music, video, podcasts, etc.) is now not visible on the iPhone. The "capacity" bar at the bottom of the iTunes screen show that all of the data (5.76GB) is still there, but now it is all the orange color for "other." My photos are still yellow in the bar and viewable on my iPhone, but I get a "No Music" and "No Videos" screen on the iPhone when I try to view that content. Apparently it is still there, but somehow the "file type" has been changed. My only two recent changes are updating to iTunes 7.6 and upgrading the iPhone software to the current 1.1.3. I've tried restarting the iPhone with the home/powerswitch method and have rebooted the computer several times as well. I was going to try and downgrade iTunes by installing 7.5, but another user noted that 7.5 will not read the updated 7.6 playlist. ANY IDEAS?? (all of this is on 10.4.11, not Leopard.)

    Hey Larry,
I went ahead and did a "restore" and everything was back to normal. It did take a while, though, as it wiped out then re-copied over 7Gigs of data to the phone. It was a hassle, but all is OK. I'm still concerned, though. I also spoke with a Genius at the Apple store who had never seen this, and thought it was a problem with the "file type" in iTunes, but i checked and movies were still "movie" filetype. He suggested MANUALLY checking/adjusting every file, but that is rediculous and there were hundreds of songs and videos!! Anywho, on my iPhone the date outside of the iPod items (music, videos, podcasts, etc.) was not effected, and all is back to normal after a lengthy "restore." Still looking for a "why" on this one...

  • So my ipod had music and videos wiped out

i plugged in my ipod to the computer, but it didn't recognize it so i unplugged it and plugged it back in and when i did, it had no music, but i check how much of the memory is used up, it still has the same memory used up for all the music and videos i have. it's in orange instead of being green for music.
    how do i solve this?

Connect the iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and the use the Music tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync your music to the iPod

  • Recording live music with video iPod...

I tried using my video iPod to record a live music show and was very disappointed with the results. I purchased a MicroMemo digital audio recorder and used a set of stealth mics I've used for years with my portable MiniDisc recorder.
The iPod doesn't allow you to set recording levels and I think that was the problem. The recording was WAY oversaturated and virtually unlistenable. I tried using Audacity to edit the file, but I was unable to fix the oversaturated recording.
Can anyone advise me? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bill,
I've used plugins in apps such as Pro Tools plugins to clean up
recordings of lectures. Other good audio software
that allow you to filter a sound file include Cubase
    , MacFOH ,
    SoX .
Thanks for the suggestion, Ed, but my recording is SO oversaturated that it can't be salvaged by anything. When you look at the recording in any sound editor, the top is severely clipped. You can't do anything to restore what isn't there to begin with, and that's the top of the waveform.
    Here's
a list of other open source audio projects at
    GNU.
    Nice list! Thanks for that!!!
    Good luck!

I did get some help from XTremeMac's tech support. Sharon Rivera from that company wrote this:
] The way to get true sound is through the line in setting with an
    ] external powered source.
It turns out the battery box (9V) on my Core Sound stealth mics means my mics are powered by an external source. All I have to do next time is use the "line" setting instead of the "mic" setting on the MicroMemo.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

  • Best mic for recording live music with video ipod?

i believe there are mics for recording sound, and believe there are even some which are made for great sound quality such as live music.
if so, which one is the best?
    thanks.

This is sort of like asking what is the best motorized vehicle.
There are different mikes for different purposes, instruments, etc. I'd get on Google and look for recording websites.
Myself, I like various Neumann's for certain applications.

  • How do i synchronize ipod nano music with my new mac. v

How do I sync the music on ipod nao with new mac. Itunes library is almost empty. when i sync my empty library on mac will delete all music on ipod

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases from your iPod to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs), have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, an external drive ? If not then you will need to find a third-party program that can copy them off the iPod and onto your computer.

  • New ipod 60 gig with video problem

I've converted several of my dvd's to watch on my brand new 60 gig ipod and using itunes placed them properly into my ipod. Each one plays for about 30 seconds, then stops, then resumes but with no sound. I have seen other posts related to version 1.0, but my new ipod came with 1.1 already installed. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem. Is Apple working on a fix for this "known" problem that seem to just affect the 60 gig video ipod? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks...

The fix has been out for several months.
iPods with software version 1.1.1 or later no longer experience this problem.

  • IPod locks up with video on the TV

I have a 80gb 5g ipod and i'm watching a movie on the TV from the iPod. If I try to stop the movie or it comes to the end, sometimes it LOCKS the iPod up and can't unlock it. 1st time I had to wait til the battery ran out. The 2nd time I took everything back to the store and they gave me a new iPod and Dock, but it did it again at the end of a movie. This time I did unlock it by doing the "press center button and then Meneu" This iPod, I didn't update the ipod software when asked. Any idea what's going on anyone?

If your having problems playing back one movie> then it could be a bad file> if so try getting another movie downloaded.
otherwise it doesn't hurt to get all the most recent ITunes, IPOD firmware and Windows Updates installed.

  • Will apple repair my ipod classic 80g with video?

I got my ipod classic 80g in 2006.  I used it for a couple years and was very satisfied.  It was in a backpack that was tossed carelessly, and then stopped working.  The screen does not display anything except for some black lines.  The physical casing is not broken however.  When I plug it into a computer, I can hear the harddrive spinning, but itunes won't recognize it, and it won't show up as a device on my computer.  I have waited so long to inquire about a repair because I have replaced it a couple of times with other ipods.  I would really like to have this one repaired as I don't have an ipod curretently. And, instead of buying a new ipod classic, I would like to have this one repaired.  I read that it would cost $129 to repair this ipod.
I would like to know however, if I spend $129 will apple repair my ipod for sure?  If it is deemed unrepairable, will I get a replacement?  Or will they refund my money?
Thanks for reading and giving your time.
    -Madison Albert

Apple doesn't actually repair iPod, but does an out of warranty exchange of it for a refurbished model of the same generation and capacity.
And it will cost $129 according to this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&viewlocale=en_US&geo=United_St ates&product=ipod&select=REPAIR_PRICING

  • Transfer music from iPod mini to iPod with video

I'm going to be spending a few nights at my friend's house and they plan on giving me their iPod with video. I currently have the iPod mini and I was just wondering if there's a way (in Windows XP) if I can get my music and playlists from my iPod mini to my new iPod with video at my friend's house so I don't have to wait until i can go home and connect it to my PC.

    Actually Problem solved!
if anyone wants to know the steps here they are
*make sure your iPod is enabled for hard disk use*
-on your PC, export the library and any playlists to a flash drive or CD (in this case, I'm using a flash drive)
-create a new user account in Windows
    -open and setup iTunes
-connect the iPod that has the music you want
-go to FILE then IMPORT, and select all your playlist text files along with your library xml file and import
-when done, connect your NEW iPod and format it
-then sync the music and there you go! all your songs on a new iPod when you don't have access to your PC!

  • IPod music and videos gone; can't locate iPod Controls

this has just happened to me.
i double clicked on a song to play, while my iPod was patched into my computer. it started playing, and i clicked up in the now playing portion to skip through part of the song. everything is now gone. i got a new computer because my old one had crashed out. The computer is 3 days old and Today (day of the problem) is the third day i've been using my iPod in the exact same way, and I have been used it this way on my old computer since December. for the record i manually update, and since my old computer is crashed out i cannot simply resynch. also, when i reconnected my iPod after the problem it wanted me to go thru the same process as when your iPod is brand new (naming, choosing auto update or not, register).
Could it be that when i installed a more current version of iTunes/iPod software, the i Pod erased from an update or something?
If so, why would it do this now and not three days ago when i first plugged my iPod into my new computer with the new iTunes/iPod software?
Lastly, I noticed others who have had a similar problem were able to recover their music by going into the iPod through My Computer and going to a iPod control folder, then to a music folder. I can't find either in my iPod, or anywhere on my computer. The only files in there are Calendars, Contacts, Notes (none of which i ever used) and Photos (and all of my photos were still there, giving me hope my music and videos are still there somewhere). Does anyone know how I can find it?

also, when i reconnected my iPod after the problem it wanted me to go thru the same process as when your iPod is brand new (naming, choosing auto update or not, register).
hmmmm. with that symptom, we'd better check on this possibility:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
you might have to put the ipod into disk mode to get her to show up in Disk Management:

  • Share music with my husbands ipod

Hi! I hope that someone can help.
I want to be able to share my music with my husband and vice versa. We both have Ipods and we both have itunes on our computers, How can we do this without wiping out my library or his library?
Any suggestions??? We still want to keep our individual libraries intact.

My husband and I share the same computer ...
    In that case ...
Unfortunately, the Apple Knowledge Base article about sharing music is a bit confusing.
Basically what you and your husband both want to do in each of your Windows XP accounts is go to the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > General tab and change the location of the iTunes Music folder to something like Documents and Settings/AllUsers/Shared Documents/Shared Music.
You then each go to the iTunes File menu > Library > Consolidate Library ... option to copy your Library contents to the new location you chose for your iTunes Music folder.
Now you have one common place for your music, videos and such and will be able to add stuff from each other's Libraries by using the File menu > Add File to Library ... option.

  • Purchased music and videos not playing on ipod!!!!

I had an ipod and bought a video ipod recently. I forgot to put in the disc that came with the new ipod, and now all the songs and videos I bought from Itunes Music store wont play in my ipod. By wont play I mean I try to play it and it goes to a black screen, sometimes for 30 seconds. I have tried restoring my ipod but it did not work. Please help

Did you update the firmware on the iPod? Supposibly if fixes a few bugs.
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
If you didn't then try that. Believe me your problem is not with not using that CD as I never even popped the disk in my CD drive untill after I had updated my iPod as the software was outdated before it arrived at my house.

  • Cannot delete music from iPod nano (latest generation).  Have already selected "Manually Manage music and videos" but delete is unavailable from right click or Edit.

I have done everything I've seen recommended for deleting music (jncluding "manually manage").  Thanks for the assistance!!!

Did you Apply the change after selecting (checking the box for) Manually manage music and videos?
With the latest iTunes, if the sidebar is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
In the sidebar, select the iPod under DEVICES.  Click the toggle (to the left of iPod) to drop down the iPod's content list, indented under iPod.  Click on Music there.  Over to the right, the list of songs on the iPod is shown.  You can select songs there, right click on them, and select Delete from the contextual menu.  You can also select songs there, go up to the menu bar, and select Delete under Edit.  You can also select songs there, and just press the Delete key on the keyboard.
If you want to use automatic syncing, which is far more convenient than the manual method, and easily manage content on the iPod (add and remove songs), please post back.
