Ipod Connect No Longer Opens Itunes

For some reason, and this just started happening recently, when I connect my Ipod, it opens up the folders of the Ipod as if it were a Hard Drive and does not open Itunes automatically. I have it selected in Itunes settings to Automatically open Itunes when Ipod is connected. I did a registry hack for my Zune, so it could be seen as a Hard Drive, but that was for the Zune. I've since uninstalled all my Zune software. So I don't think the Zune is related but, does anyone know why ? Oh yea I'm using 2 Ipods, one is set to Automatically Update to Itunes, the other is set to Manually Manage Music. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I figured it out myself. I recently did a msconfig in startup and disabled "Itunes Helper" in the list and then enabled it again (adding the check mark) and that did the trick.

  • IPod touch no longer opens iTunes -- option is greyed out in device Summary

I've been using my 1st gen iPod touch with iTunes for two years with no problems. Recently when I plug the iPod into my computer, nothing happens (besides charging). If I manually open iTunes, the iPod does appear as a device, and I can click Sync to get things going -- but the "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" option is greyed out. Anyone know how to get this option back so my iPod will automatically open iTunes when I connect it to my iMac?

Looks like that, or a combination of the two took care of the problem. Yaaaaayyyyyy!
Thanks again for your help. It got a little dicey because without the manage my own files box checked iTunes tried to sync the iPod to iTunes and there wasn't enough room on the iPod for all of the music. Once I got the prevent sync bow unchecked in Preferences and unchecked the manage my files and use disc boxes unchecked I was able to check the start iTunes box and the manage my files box an apply it so that I have the best of both worlds going own.
    Life is good!
    Thaks again Brother.

  • Songs are on my iPod but no longer in iTunes

    Hello everyone,
I just had some computer work done and had to re-install iTunes (the latest version). When I open it up it still shows all the song titles I had before and the correct number of songs. HOWEVER the majority of them won't play. When I try to it says 'file not located - would you like to search for it?' or something along those lines. It seems as though the only files it finds are from cd's I imported and podcasts. Basically I'm missing about 4500 songs, though the titles are there.
My iPod seemed to sync alright to iTunes and, luckily, all the songs are still on my iPod.
So here's the question: Is there a way to plug in your iPod and have the song files go INTO iTunes. Like I know they update each other with playlists, play counts etc. I'd really like to recover the songs onto my hard drive.
I've got windows xp, latest iTunes and an iPod video.
Sorry this was so long; just wanted to explain it as well as I could.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Since I updated my iPad it will no longer open iTunes or allow me to see or open books on my bookshelf. I have tried to restore it as advised by Apple at The Trafford Centre but it will still not work and I have lost my software but I hope it is saved on

Since updating my iPad several weeks ago I can no longer open iTunes or view or read books on my bookshelf. I took my iPad to Apple at The Trafford Centre where I was advised to restore my pad. This I did using our imac and hopefully saved my software.. The restore did not work and now my pad will still not open iTunes and I no longer have my apps. What can I do to get my purchased books etc. back and open iTunes again?

Most of your purchases content can be downloaded again via the Purchased tabs in each of the store. I realize that this will be a problem for the iTunes Store on the iPad, but that has nothing to do with apps, since apps are in the App Store.
If you backed up synced with iTunes before you restored the iPad, your content should be in iTunes on your Mac and you should be able to sync it back again.

  • TS4123 iTunes Update failed, windows 7, can no longer open iTunes

I tried to download and install the latest version of iTunes, via the automated notification I get and it failed. I can no longer open iTunes.
I get a Run Time Error.
    Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's supportteam for more information.
    Any suggestions?

    Hey there AndyB999,
It sounds like you are getting this error message when installing iTunes 11.1.4 on your computer. This error message is mentioned in the following article:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
"Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly"
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Part of the troubleshooting does involve re installing iTunes again, but the article linked therein will show how to uninstall iTunes and its associated programs as well for a clean install.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Connecting iPod does not automatically open iTunes...

Sorry if this is a repost, but I tried a search and I couldn't find anything.
I want iTunes to launch when I connect my iPod but it doesn't. I have to manually open iTunes myself. And yes, I have the "Open iTunes when this iPod is attahced" option checked in the iPod Preferences window.
    Any suggestions?

Your control pannel and then Windows Security. It may also be blocked by Spyware, check that too (also from the control panel). Actually the more I think about it, the more likely it is to be Spyware.

  • IPod Classic ejects after opening iTunes

Macbook Pro 17" 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo
    OSX 10.6.8
    iTunes 10.3.1 (55)
Does not make a difference if connected to powered USB hub or directly to the computer. iPod stays on the dekstop. When I open iTunes, the iPod Classic is Ejected.
I do not have this problem with an iPod 4 Generation color.
    So what's wrong?

I did everything the last message said in this post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/12487358#12487358.
The iPod still ejects after I open iTunes

  • Ipod touch doesn't open itunes automatically

My wife and I are both noticing that when we plug our iTouches into our Snow Leopard OS computers that iTunes does not automatically open up. This is something that has only happened during the past week after upgrading the iOS/iTunes softwares.
We now have to manually open iTunes to allow syncing with iTouch to procede.

First I assume you mean go to iTunes Preferences/Devices not iTunes Settings/Devices
The box for preventing syncing was not checked. I left it unchecked.
Next I assume you mean go to the summary pane when the iPod is connected to the Mac and, yes, the check box for open iTunes when iPod is connected has already been selected. I left it checked.
Then you say go back to Settings (Preferences?) and activate the option NOT to sync automatically. I did this but I have to ask why - it seems counter intuitive. Furthermore, the option for autostart is not greyed out on my computer.
None of this has restored my ability to automatically open iTunes on connecting my IPod to the Mac. I still think it was a problem with the recent iOS/ITunes upgrades.

  • My computer froze and I had no choice but to turn it off. When I turned it back on, it would no longer open iTunes. It says "error 7 (windows error 14001). iTunes said to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Windows installer won't work.

My computer froze, so I had to finally turn it off. When I turned it on again, it wouldn't open iTunes. Error7 (Windows error 14001) appeared. I could not uninstall and reinstall iTunes because now Windows Installer isn't working either. Tried using "System Restore" from a backup, but still didn't fix problem. Tried online purchase of registry cleanup ("Error End"), but that didn't solve problem either.
How can I get iTunes to open? Any suggestions for getting Windows Installer to work? Thanks!
