IPod connected to other Computer

Hi guys
i lately tried to connect my iPod to my friends Computer. after doing this i opened iTunes and everything was fine except for one thing: eventhough all my files were listed and shown they were almost invisible, indicating me that i can't use or play them on this computer. i went home and tried the same procedure but this time i could play all my songs.
so is it that you can't play your songs on other computers except on ypur own or what?
thanks for your help
Pete

If you are seeing grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen then your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you need to change the update method to "Manually manage music and videos" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see these tutorials:
Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

  • Use user account to connect to other computer

    Hi everyone,
I'm running windows 7 machine and i have a domain for study purpose so i was using file sharing option and i checked use users account to connect to other computer.
Advanced sharing and i select use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers
so after selecting this option it logged me out and bring me to the log in option but i can not see my computer log-In name i see only remote log In name and other user option so how do i log into my
Windows 7 computer? not the remote computer
Please help i want to get back to my windows 7 computer because im  logged out and i don't know how to log-In
i can only log-In the domain user account but i want to log in as windows 7 account not the domain account
    please help

Perhaps the GPO prevent you from logging locally with user account that is NOT member of domain users. You should change GPO and either wait for applying it of force the update. Remember that some GPO may need restart.

    iPod   Windows XP

In Settings in iTunes (while shuffle is plugged in) UNcheck "Open iTunes when this iPod is attached) and click apply... This will allow charging w/o iTunes involvement.

  • I put on ipod on my other computer and it will not let me download my music

I used to use my desktop computer then I went to put the music from my Ipod to my laptop and it said that my computer was not authorize and i could not find how to authorize computer. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Hi My other computer won't let...,
    nice nickname by the way
Be sure you are connected to the internet. Go to iTunes. Click the Store Menu and choose "Authorize Computer..." and enter your iTunes account name and password. If you forgot your account name, check it on your old computer. If you forgot your password, use the "Forgot Password?" button.
If you plan to no longer use your desktop, do not forget to deauthorize it (iTunes>Store>Deauthorize computer...), because you can only authorize 5 computers at a time. If you plan to use both computers, leave it authorized.
    Hope that helps, Lars

  • 2 ipods connected on one computer

We put one ipod nano on our computer in December- Now, we are trying to put another ipod on for a different user- and the first ipod user's songs continue to download onto ipod #2- and ipod #2 can't download his own music- it automatically goes onto both ipods!!!!

Itunes doesn't have integrated multi-user support.
If you are running Windows XP, the multiple user profiles can be used to create the same effect. My daughter and I both have ipods and utilize the same computer, each of our itunes libraries are in our respective "My Documents\My Music" folders. My Documents is a logical that changes physical location based on who is logged in. This set up does mean that if we want the same song on each ipod, there have to be 2 copies on the PC.

  • IPod connects to the computer, but not to iTunes

When I connect my 30 gb iPod to the computer, the "do not disconnect" screen appears on the iPod, but it does not show up on a Source list on iTunes nor does it update. The iPod does appear in the Finder, so I know the connection is made. I have OSX 10.4.11 and just updated to iTunes 8, but this problem occurred prior to the update (I was hoping the update would solve the problem!). What to do???

Yep add me to that list too, and I have tried the menu and select button on the ipod all that happens is the contrast goes very faint, tried the combo thing and it tells me it can't be installed on this computer, tried the 5 R's on the ipod frequent question page, all do nothing, totally un impressed with Apple for the first time, never had any problems but version 8 of itunes really needs bugging out before it was released, if anyone has any other ideas please do add them as I have just bought a whole load of music which is sat on my library and cant move to ipod...oh and I have also tried the create a new account and see if that works, well I could see the ipod but couldnt transfer the contents back to itunes - sooooooo unhappy can't do apple care as classic ipod is way past 2 years

  • Not showing "transfer" option for iPod Shuffle to other computer

I have two authorized computers-a Windows XP (the first) and a Windows Vista I just authorized with iTunes 8. My iPod Shuffle works with the first computer (the XP) and will connect with it, but with the Vista, it only shows the "erase and sync" and "cancel" options in the pop-up box when I plug it in to my computer. How do I fix this problem?

If it helps, the computer it is not working on is a Toshiba Satellite.

  • Listening to Ipod library on other computer

Is it possible to connect my ipod to another computer and listen to my library through it's itunes? without changing my library?
    Thanks

Yes, connect your iPod to your home PC and change your update setting in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists" then you can connect safely to a second one.

  • Why wont my ipod connect to my computer?

I've gone through all the steps.
    I've reset my ipod
Put it in diskmode it only says okay to disconnect
    changed usb ports
    changed cables
made sure the cable worked with other ipods
    used other computers.
Nothing I've done works, it doesnt show up on my computer at all, im getting so frustrated with it. Any helps?

How do you know it's charging then?  Has this iPod ever successfully connected to this particular PC?  Does anything appear in Device Manager when you plug it in?  To access Device Manager, click Start and right->click on Computer and choose Manage.  When the window appears make sure Device Manager is selected on the left.  Then plug in your iPod and see if it appears anywhere such as in the USB Root section or the like.

  • Library missing and itunes always said ipod connected to other library

    Hello all,
I moved my music folder from my documents to hard disc. The reason is that my documents folder is connected to the office network.
    Since then I have problems with my itunes;
    - ipod is not recognisable by itunes
    - my library is missing from the itunes.
I have tried to add music back from the music folder; but it seems that when i add the library when i am not connected to network, always lost when i connected to network; vice versa.
And everytime i add the library, my ipod is not recognised by the itunes, in consequences i have to re synchronised the ipod to the new library.
Please help to solve this problem. Thank you.

Verify that you have the right boxes checked to manaually sync. It sounds like you do not.

    Next would be to:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My ipod connects to the computer but will not charge, can you help?

My ipod will not charge. I have tried charging via the mains and via the computer. The computer recognises it but it still won't charge. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

    See the not-charging topic of:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    Another charging source?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.
