Ipod connection causing netgear wireless link to fail

Every time I connect my ipod to windows, my wireless link (netgear router) fails, and I have to turn my computer off an on again. Using itunes v7 with 4th generation ipod.

DHCP lease time on the router is 30 minutes.
It appears that the clients, specifically the only wireless laptop on the network, drops the connection and when it reconnects it gets a new lease and IP address.  This happens many times until all IPs are in use.  I don't know why the lap top drops the connection when the signal strength is excellent.
I have seen the MAC address of the Client in some cases but the majority are the WRE.
I've linked to some pictures of the router set up, the DHCP client list, and the basic WRE setup.  There are only 3 wireless devices in my home, 1 laptop, 2 iPhones.  I guess a neighbour could be trying to connect but I do have MAC address filtering turned on so only included MAC Addresses can connect.
I guess I could always update the firmware but I only want to do that if it will fix this issue.  I tried the live chat today but I didn't have access to my home network so there wasn't much that we could do.

  • Can't connect to netgear wireless internet

I live in close proximity to several people who all share a netgear wireless internet connection. THey all use windows and have netgear hardware to recieve the signal. My mac can detect the network but the password that everyone else uses does not work on my airport. Any help would be great.
I should add that none of my neighbors could really qualify as a network administrator. The network has been inherited from former tennants.

1.If there is a hexadecimal password, no one knows it and it is completely obscured from a common computer user being able to locate it.
To get the hexadecimal password, convert each character in the ASCII string to it's hexadecimal equivalent. For example, using www.lookuptables.com the phrase
    TigerNetwork6
    converts to
    54696765724E6574776F726B36
    2. ASCII requires a 5 digit only password including the quotation marks.
It sounds like you are only using 40 bit WEP. That is essentially useless. Use WPA if possible. If not use 128 bit WEP (13 ASCII characters, 26 hexadecimal characters).

  • WRE54G version 3 uses all available DHCP connections causing all wireless connectivity to fail

I couldn't find this problem via search so i've started a new thread.  Here is my problem.
I have configured my WRE54G and everything seems to be working great, a Wireless connection that was LOW is not Excellent.
    a. I can connect to my router: 192.168.0.1 (WRT54GC firmware 1.05.7)
    b. I can connect to my range expander: 192.168.0.11 (I changed the IP, firmware 3.01.01)
    c. The Range Expander has the same SSID as my router and has the same WEP key too.
It seems that the range expander will eventually use all of the DHCP connections that I have configured for my router to allow.
I have the DHCP lease set to 30 minutes but when i look in the DHCP client list I see clients with 2 day leases, these are all the MAC Address of the Range Expander. Currently 5 of 7 connections are the Range Expander.  Eventually it will consume all connection and I won't be able to connect.
On my wireless router I have MAC address filtering set up and only 4 MAC addresses are added to the "allow" list.

  • External hdmi monitor connection causes airport wireless to fail

When I connect my 24" iMac (early 2009) to my Samsung 40" LCD TV using an HDMI display adapter and an HDMI cable, my built-in airport wireless connection stops working.
The airport will see wifi connections, but constantly prompts for the WPA password and refuses to connect. Occasionally it will connect, but only for a short time, and "ping times" to my router (small network packets) are large and sporadic.
This only happens when the adapter/cable are completely connected to the TV, and the TV is on. Of course this makes watching hulu.com on the TV very difficult!
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Try resetting PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
and if that does not help, resetting SMC (power management)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
which is unplugging the iMac and reconnecting using a precise procedure. You should disconnect ALL cables from the iMac when you do this. If you have been using a power strip to connect your power cord, try connecting directly to a wall outlet for this test. Power up with nothing connected except for the power cord, then connect only the keyboard/mouse. After confirming everything is working, including the AirPort connection, connect the external display. Does the problem recur or not?

  • IPod connection causes iPhoto to Open not iTunes

Each time I connect my iPod Touch to my laptop, iPhoto opens, not iTunes. How do I stop this from happening? Itunes should be the default program when the iPod is attached. Thank you.

same for me now MARCH and cannot get it to open, it finds one new photo, even if I delete off of ipod it keeps opening iphoto instead and cannot get into itunes for syncing my itouch! I see no settings inside iphoto to stop auto syncing! The disc image that usually appears on desktop when plug in itouch does not appear either.
I even tried deleting pic from itouch it wants to download (even tho' it's a duplicate inside of iphoto)and then close iphoto and open itunes, and spinning ball is there and freezes of itunes EVERY TIME! If i disconnect ipod and open itunes I see my device listed in settings but it won't open my itouch! itouch vs 3.1.3, iTunes vs 9, mac 10.4.11.

  • Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed

I am using an HP Desktop computer:
    - 24 GBs RAM
    - Quad Core i7
    - NVIDIA GTX-580 GPU
    - Windows 7 Professional
I have Master Collection CS6 and I'm not sure if Dynamic Link ever worked properly for me. But I am experiencing 2 issues:
1). When I use Media Encoder, I want to use "File" > "Add After Effects Composition..." or "Premiere Pro Sequence..." and can't progress further. When I try to bring in the Premiere Pro sequence, I get a loading bar, but it never loads the sequence. When I try to bring in the After Effects composition, I get the message "Connecting to the Dynamic Link server failed."
2). When I open a squence in Premiere Pro that has a clip that is Dynamically Linked to After Effects, the clip will show in the timeline as media not found or available. I have to try and relink it to make it work. This would be a huge hassell if I have many clips that are dynamically linked.
I have tried virus scans, reinstalling the software and checking to make sure the firewall is not blocking the Adobe protocols. Nothing seems to work. I unfortunately have never been able to use Dynamic Link until I got a computer that was speedy enough that would allow me to run Premiere and After Effects at the smae time! :-) Is anyone else having this issue and is there a solution?
    Here are some screen shots:

I've been searching/troubleshooting for days, none of the firewall, new shortcuts in folder, antivirus, you name it I tried it even wiped my system which seemed to work at first..
What did it for me in the end was I had Dxtory (a software recorder, for recording gameplay) running on startup, and somehow it interfered with only Premiere projects in Media Encoder, I could still import AE projects go figure.
Check all the programs you have running or use sometimes, if they have some sort of hook into other programs/deal with video/codecs this could be your problem too!
Thanks to everyone trying to solve this problem!

  • IPod Connection Status Failed

I have two ipod nanos, one of them is working fine, the other i have a problem with. Using iTunes version 7, i run the iPod Diagnostic test found in the help menu. After running it, it says that the iPod connection status has failed. It gives me a link for the solution.
(http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716) None of the solutions worked.
When i run the test for my other ipod, using the same cable and everything, there are no problems. It seems as though the defect is the iPod itself, i can't restore it because iTunes doesn't recognize it when i plug it in.
    Windows XP

I had the same problem and discovered that it was caused by iPod Services hanging. Here's what solved it for me:
Right-click My Computer and click Manage to open Computer Management.
In left side, double-click Services and Applications, then double-click Services.
Double-click iPod Service in the right-hand panel.
Under the General tab, click the Stop button and leave the iPod Service Properties window open.
Connect the iPod - it should start reading "Do Not Disconnect". If it doesn't, wait until it shows up in My Computer, then click Start in the iPod Service Properties window.
(By the way, I found this solution at Zolved.com.)

  • Connecting to dynamic link server - FAILED - second time

I bought the creative cloud membership and I use after effects for my projects then send them over to media encoder for rendering.
At first when I would send it over to media encoder it worked just fine, then SUDDENLY, one day, it stopped worked and it would say  "connecting to dynamic link server failed".
I deleted the program and re installed it and it did the trick...However, AGAIN, this same problem and unexpectedly risen. I do not want to be deleting and installing every-time this happens.
I have a brand new windows 8.1 computer and I do not know why this is happening. any fixes?

Something is running that is preventing dynamic link from opening. It could be any one of a host of programs. Open up your Task Manager (Activity monitor if you are having the same problem and are on a Mac) and check for all running programs to see which one is hanging. Then either update or uninstall the app that is causing the problem.
If you don't find anything there try purging memory and disk cache first and then allocate more memory to other apps in AE's preferences.

My daughter had an update for itunes which she did. She said that there was also an update for ipod but it had told her it failed. However, now when she connects USB cord it tells her she must restore. I am assuming that it updated to IOS 6. Is she going to lose everything on the device if she goes ahead and restores it? She does not have anything backuped in the cloud as she was not aware that this update would cause this issue.

If her iPod was backed up, she will lose the data on the iPod, but it could be restored from the backup.

  • TS1398 have been connected to my wireless network using a netgear sky broadband router succesfully for a few weeks, suddenly can't connect, network is showing but no signal - all other wireless gadgets are connected just fine - including iphone - any idea

my ipad 4 has been connected to my wireless network using a netgear sky broadband router succesfully for a few weeks, suddenly can't connect, network is showing but no signal - all other wireless gadgets are connected just fine - including iphone - any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Installed a wireless canon Pixma MX432 printer back in November for use with my Mac Book Air. All was working normally until this past week when I began getting a message, "printer not connected." What is going on? Netgear Wireless N Router seems to be ok

My new canon Pixma MX432 printer is not printing. It was printing fine until about ten days ago. I use a Netgear Wireless N router, which is also new. What do I need to do. I get a message when trying to print that says "printer not connected." In addition, my old Gateway laptop will still print fine apparently because it has a cable connection to the printer. Puzzled!

Have you tried rebooting the router? I would unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Be sure you know the password etc. if that doesn't work, try unplugging and rebooting the printer. Good luck!

  • My ipod was connecting to my home wi-fi just fine until I uploaded new music from my Itunes on my laptop. Now my ipod and my iphone will not connect to my wireless network. I've tried resetting the network settings etc... Nothing seems to work. Help!

My ipod (version 6.1.3) was connectiong to my home wi-fi just fine until I uploaded new music from my itunes via my laptop. Now my ipod and my iphone will not connect to my wireless network. Does the iOS devices connect to other networks?
Does the iOS devices see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Since both iPhone and iPod stopped connecting I suspect a problem with your network.

  • Unable to connect to home wireless network with my iPod touch

I've had my iTouch for several months now and I'm still not able to connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried the resets and other suggestions I've found in the discussion groups but nothing has worked.
I have an older Netgear Router MR814v2 and it is unsecured. It is attached to my old desktop, HP Pavilion running Windows ME, which is not able to run the itunes software. My HP laptop is where my iTouch and iTunes software is installed.
The iTouch displays my network with good signal strength, but when I try to connect I get the "unable to join the network "NETGEAR".
Going to my router, it does not recognize my iTouch as an attached device. Why is that and what am I missing?
Thank you for all suggestions and your help.

I tried powering down the router. When it's off the iTouch does not recognize the network and then when it's powered on again, the iTouch recognizes the network. Unlike the public wi-fi spots that my iTouch responds to, where all the info like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS etc are populated in the settings...my iTouch does not populate these fields at home even though it recognizes the network. I still get the unable to connect to network error. Could it be that my router is antiquated and can not support the iTouch? Like I said earlier, my Router does not recognize the iTouch as being attached to it.

  • Connect iPod to internet WITHOUT wireless net(and yes I have a good reason)

I am currently designing an iPhone version of my companies website. The company does not allow wireless connections and I dont want to get fired for a possible security breach so that is out of the question. I need a way to test my application once it is deployed to our web servers. I want to know if there is a way to connect an iPod touch to the internet through a USB connection without a wireless network and use the web browser. My only other options are:
    1) buy an iphone and lock myself into a 2 year contract (no friggin way)
    2) buy a mac computer just to use the iPhone SDK (no friggin way)
    3) use a simulator - only good one I have found is mobiOne but the proxy settings wont let me connect to anything but localhost.
    4) use windows version of safari. When I installed safari I clicked the box to save the proxy login user/password. Now my proxy password has changed. There is no way to make safari ask me for my login info again (gg apple) so using safari I get locked out of my corporate account. Ive tried to delete the keychain file but it does not exist where everyone says it is. Also it is not the same as testing with an iPod touch.
Please if you can help me I'll give you a cookie. Thanks
    George

Buy an iPod touch. The browser experience is identical.
Get permission and set up a secured wireless access point. Set it up but do not connect it to your network.
Put the web page on a system not connected to any other computers except for the HUB in the wireless access point.
    Go for it.
    (Stay away from Adobe Flash.)

  • Netctl fails to connect to a wireless network and does not give detail

If I try to connect to a wireless network (WEP, DHCP) using netctl I get "Jon for netctl@wlp2s0\x2dnetworkname.service failed." and two commands (journalctl -xn and systemctl status ...) that should give details about the error.
However, both of them give the following lines:

If you look at the netctl.profile man page, it explains some special quoting rules at the end.  The literal double-quote (or escaped double-quote) actually just results in a non-quoted string when passed from netctl to the underlying supporting software.  This is apparently necessary if the WEP key is in hexadecimal.
