IPod connectivity issues

Hi,
My iPod touch connected fine to all internet networks including my home one, but then it ran out of battery. I left it a few days before I finally got round to charging, and now it connects to the internet just fine, but will not load the internet.
I have a feeling it might be something to do with the IP address, which is coming up different to the router and DNS number (not sure if it's meant to or not ). It's only a couple of digits difference, the IP starts in 192 and then ends in, for example, 1.7 whereas the DNS and router end in 1.5.
All or any advice is gratefully received, thanks in advance,
K.

Try:
- Resetting the iPod. Nothin is lost.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>reset Network Settings.  Youwill have to rejoin all networks.
- Also make sure that the date an time is correct.

  • Ipod connection issues with itunes

i know, i am the one-thousandth person to write in about a connection issue, but i just bought a 8gb nano. my pc is recognizing the ipod, but itunes does not automatically start.
instead, if i manually try to start up itunes, it either doesn't start at all, or when it does, it immediately locks up. or it will try as hard as it can to sync and then locks up.
once i disconnect the ipod from the usb port, itunes will come back to life. i have done EVERYTHING the support pages say, reinstalled itunes, dumped temp files, stopped conflicting software...everything short of sending in the new ipod to be serviced. please if you have run into this particular problem and/or you know how to fix this issue, please respond
i don't really want to send a brand-freaking-new ipod off to be serviced b/c i think this is a software issue.

    Hello lalajamjam,
It sounds like you've done a rather good job of troubleshooting already. Other than testing to see if the issue is user-specific per ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 ) and possibly testing the Nano on another computer, there are few additional steps to try prior to getting it serviced.

  • IPod connection issue

For about a week now whenever I connect my iPod (Classic, 160gb) into my PC it pops up a message that there is something wrong with the drive and would I like to fix it.  I was advised by a rep at my local Apple store not to attempt this fix, so I have just been closing the pop-up message.
More recently, whenever I am in iTunes, it has to "Verify" my iPod for about ten minutes before I can do anything.  Also, if I sync it does so more slowly than normal, and I get pop-ups from iTunes saying that the sync failed even though it appears to have finished correctly.
I have tried restarting the iPod but that hasn't changed anything.

Go to your "Device Manager" which is under the Hardware tab in System (at least on WinXP). There, you'll probably see the device is having an issue, a yellow "!" or a red "x". First, try updating the driver, if that doesn't fix it ... delete the device from the system. Then restart and reconnect it, let windows automatically install the device again, and it should work again.
I don't know why this happens, but if you look carefully through the forum here, you'll see it seems to be happening quite a bit with Windows XP and Vista.

  • IPod Connection issue - Please Help...!

I have a strange problem! My iPod does not connect (any more) to Windows (and hence not iTunes). I have seen lots of other people raising this problem, but mine is slightly different. What happens is that when I connect the iPod, it IS initially picked up by Windows (Vista), the computer makes a 'dun 'sound, and if I'm quick, I can see it in the Devices area (under Storage). But then within a second or two there is another 'dun' sound, anmd the iPod disappears. It never gets as far as saying 'unrecognised device'.
Incidentally, the iPod (event though not recogised) does charge up through the USB port, and (incidentally) other devices (e.g. pen drive) work on the port.
Any GURU's out there that can help me. I'm desperate! I need some podcasts!!!
    Thanks

  • Video Ipod Connectivity Issue....???   Pleeeeze Help!

    Hello Everybody,
We have a 5th Gen. video IPod and had recently put over 1000 songs on it from a PC based iTunes.  In the past, we had also put some music on our IPod from different computers (Mac & PC) but as soon as we connect with our eMac (OSX 10.3.9) all of the previously saved songs are deleted as iTunes sync the IPod with our songs library.
We believe that there might be some settings that we need to change so iTunes will not sync music automatically and delete the previously songs. Could somebody please help us navigate how to put some more songs on our IPod without deleting our precious songs library.
    Thank You.

my itunes stopped recognizing my ipod. the computer will see it, but not itunes. i uninstalled everything, followed all steps to delete out of temp, etc. and upgraded to 7.0.1 but still the ipod is not viewable by itunes.
when i plug my ipod into my boyfriend's computer, it appears fine, so the issue is not with the ipod. anyone have any tricks not documented that can make this work, short of reformatting the whole computer?

it's still worth checking through the standard documentation:

    Hi
Did you try to refresh the USB port drivers??
    You should try this;
    - Disconnect all USB devices from the USB ports.
    - Access the device manager and remove all USB Root Hub and all USB Host controllers.
    - Reboot the notebook
After this procedure the Windows OS should recognize and should install the USB ports again. After new reboot you should connect the single USB devices and should check if they will run correctly!

  • IMac will not boot with iPod connected

    Hello everyone
I have a new iMac Core 2 Duo 17 inch 2.0 ghz and it seems to have a problem starting up when a 5th generation iPod is connected to the computer. When the computer is turned on with the iPod connected, the blank grey screen comes on, yet the apple logo or the spinning startup wheel does not appear. However, if the iPod is unplugged, it will startup as usual. Otherwise, there are no other problems with the computer or iPod.
I have attempted the following to resolve the issue, yet none of the aforementioned troubleshooting ideas have worked
    - Reset the PRAM and the SMU
    - Run Apple Hardware Test with no probems
    - Reinstalled Mac OS Tiger and applications
    - Reset the iPod and reimported songs onto iPod
    - Enabled and disabled hard disk mode for iPod
I know that I can simply let the iPod be disconnected at startup; however, I feel like this should not have to be done with a new Apple product. Please let me know any other advice or if anyone has experienced the same issue.
    Thanks!
    Dave

Have you reset your Startup Disk preference? If not, do so to see if that resolves your issue. It sounds as if your iMac is looking to try and boot from the iPod's disk.

  • "no ipod connected" -- but it IS connected! Any thoughts?

My nano was acting a little strangely -- when listening to music/podcast, I had lost the bar across the bottom of screen showing volume, duration of song, etc. So, I tried to update.
I downloaded the updater (1.1.1), pressed the button to update my nano. (chose update, not restore) Seemed to go ok. But hours later, screen still said "do not disconnect." I did disconnect -- wrong move? -- to find ipod seemingly stripped bare of what was on it. And when I call up ITunes to transfer my music, etc, back onto the Ipod, it doesn't seem to recognize it. Under preferences/Ipod: "no ipod connected." Any thoughts, advice, suggestions! I'm all ears.

"I did disconnect -- wrong move?"
Absolutely. By not allowing the firmware update to finish the installation before disconnecting the iPod, you could cause any number of problems. Try these steps.
    Reset the iPod.
If the reset doesn't help, then put the iPod into forced disk mode.
How to put the iPod into disk mode.
Now connect the iPod to the computer. This step may immediately take you to the iPod's normal display screen. Reset the iPod to exit disk mode.
If you still have the same issue, then you should use the updater to restore the iPod a second time (leave it in disk mode).
Wait until the restore has finished before disconnecting the iPod. If you're unsure, wait at least 20 minutes (it's probably overkill but best to be sure). In my experience, the software updater for version 1.1. takes longer to complete the process than previous updaters. Then eject it safely. Use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
    That should cure the issue.
If however it doesn't, and your iPod is still non responsive (doesn't reset, nothing on the screen or button presses don't work), then it will have to be sent away for service.
    See: iPod service request.

  • Ipad 3 WiFi connectivity issues

All right.. this might be a two part problem.  I was attempting to enable restrictions, and after I entered the passcode twice and tapped "Enable restrictions," it asked me to enter a new passcode again.  Without doing much checking, I decided to resort to "Reset All Settings."  After doing this, I'm unable to connect to any WiFi networks.  I did this while at my in-laws house, and thought perhaps it was something flukey with their router.. however, after returning home, I ran into the same issue.
When I attempt to connect, I get "Incorrect password for "<my network>", and it says "Failed to join "<my network>" at the top of the password entry box. I have two sons with iPads, and I was able to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network with no issue on theirs.  I set up a secure guest network, and was able to log in with my sons' iPads, but not mine.  Same issue.. I enter the password, and it comes back with "Incorrect password..."
When I set up an unsecure network, I'm able to join.and use as normal.  There must be a settings issue that I'm overlooking somewhere, but I can't seem to find it or figure out how to find it while I search the wasteland of Google search results.  Any help would be most appreciated.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Sound dropping when iPod connected to stereo - iOS 4.1

Why is the sound dropping when watching videos from the iPod when connected to a TV?
I have a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K AV receiver with this nice setup (cable and functionality) that lets me watch videos on my TV with the iPod connected to the AVR (USB + composite video cable). The result is not bad, with better video than audio.
HOWEVER after upgrading to iOS 4.1 the sound (not picture) is dropping after various intervals of time (1 - 20 minutes) while plugged into the AVR. When I unplug the connection the video stops and the iPod goes back to the menu. The audio plays normally when restarting the video without the cable and continues to play normally when I plug the AVR cable back into the iPod. On occassions when plugging the AVR's cable into the iPod the sound does not come back, though unpluggin and plugging in again usually does it.
Anyone else have similar issues? I see some issues with apps and battery life under iOS4.1 and a few issues with audio / picture playback:

Have people had similar problems when iPods are connected to AVRs or TVs through composite or component cables? I realize the quality of sound / pictures from the iPod is not superb though it is as good as my sattelite dish. I could just have a computer connected to the AVR via HDMI or similar but well that would mean having a computer just for iTunes.

Thanks for posting this because I too have the Pioneer VSX-1019AH and have just noticed this problem. I rarely listen to my iphone (ipod) through my receiver and this problem never occured before until yesterday.
I am experiencing a sound loss at random times, and it takes restarting the receiver, or disconnecting then reconnecting the iphone cable to get the sound back again, only for it to go off again in a few moments time.
Whilst the sound is off, both the iphone and receiver are continuing to play music because you can see the title of the tracks change on both devices. So where the fault lies is hard to tell but I'd say it's with the ios4.
I don't know whether Apple will provide any support regarding this problem but I do notice the receiver has been endorsed "made for ipod" which means it meets Apple performance standards.

  • Touch to Express connection issue

I am using Airport Express with iPod touch 5.0.1, to play music and Pandora through my home stereo. The connection will work great for a day or two with no interruptions and then begin to intermittently drop to the point that it will no longer reconnect. After a day or two I will go back to it and it may or may not work. Very random. The rest of my wifi is very stable, its seems to only be a problem between the touch and express. Any ideas how I can remedy this connection issue? Thanks!
