IPod constantly restarting

Hello,
Hoping that someone can give me some advice. My Ipod is constantly restarting. When playing i am lucky if I get two songs out of it before it will restart automatically. It is becoming very, very frustrating. Also if it doesn't restart then it will almost surely will freeze during the middle of a song.
Battery is full.
Have restored it twice and still have the problem.
Please Help

Mygrante,
If the restore isn't fixing your problem, you might consider taking it back. Your iPod is too new to be having these problems. I'd get it replaced.
Either take it to an Apple sore, or file a service request online here;

Good luck!

  • 160 GB iPod constantly restarting

I hadn't updated the firmware on my iPod for a while since it's formatted for Windows but I use Mac. After installing it my iPod would just keep restarting. After two hours I unplugged it, restarted it, but nothing worked. I can put it in disk mode and the computer will see it then. All files seem to be intact so I don't think it's a harddrive problem.

Hi, sorry to "jack" this post in a way, but I'm having the same problems. My iPod 160G Classic is constantly restarting, and after I had only put a few text documents into the 'Notes' folder on the HDD. I am also using Linux (Ubuntu) instead of Mac, so is there any program that is compatible with Linux that can help with this problem?
EDIT: I'm new to Linux and such, I just installed it last night, but any help wil be greatly appreciated.

  • IPod constantly restarts

I have recently just updated my iPod nano 2G to the 1.1.3 firmware.
It had been working fine until i updated it.
Everytime i play a song, plug in my headphones or try to turn it off, it restarts.
How can i solve this problem? I don't want to waste my money on this to find it unable to work...

iTunes can't seem to get associated with My Music folder
Not sure what that means. If you go to iTunes preferences Advanced pane and uncheck +Copy music to iTunes Music folder when adding to library+, you can store your music wherever you want on your hard drive. Drag an drop the music files (or folders containing the music files) from where they are stored to the iTunes window and iTunes will use the files from that location.
Also, have you tried setting your iPod to +Manually manage music+ (on the iPod's Summary tab) and then manually adding songs to the iPod (instead of using the Sync button).
Does it have anything to do with the fact that i use winamp to transfer my songs?
I would try using iTunes to add a few songs to the iPod, and see if the problem recurs when you don't use Winamp.

Why does iPad 3 4G constantly restart after 8.3 update only when docked with iMac?

That question is impossible to answer without more information. What troubleshooting steps have you performed? Did you try using another cable? Did you try using another USB port on the Mac? Did you reboot the Mac and reset the iPad? Have you tired restoring the iPad?

  • Brand new 80 GB constantly restarting

I bought a new 80 GB over the weekend, installed iTunes, started an update and my power promptly died. Now my iPod is constantly restarting. I've installed iTunes 8 on 2 different computers. They both recognize the device and say it needs to be updated and restored. They attempt to update/restore, and it appears to be successful, but then the device simply goes back to cycling on and off every few seconds.
I was able to get it in to disk mode, but have no idea what to do from there.
    Any help?

  • 160G Classic Constantly Restarting - Using Linux

    Hi all,
I got one of the 160G iPod's a while ago, and everything is up to date. I installed Ubuntu Linux on my computer last night, and I'm now having problems with my iPod. I put a few text documents into the 'Notes' folder just by browsing the iPod and copying them into there. I also put a folder in there with a couple of .exe files that had to be transferred to another computer, could they be causing my iPod to constantly restart?
I can turn it on, go through the menus for a couple of clicks, then it just shuts off and restarts, so I let the batteries die last night (I thought it would help), but it still does the same thing. I found a topic about this, but they were using Mac, so I was told to make my own topic. I am also fairly new to Linux, so anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated. If it helps at all, I have Wine Windows Emulator installed and it's working fine.
Also just to add, is there a version of iTunes that will run with Linux/Ubuntu? I searched the Ubuntu forums, but the latest they said that will is version 7.4. I tried installing the Windows version using Wine, but it didn't work, and the Mac version's '.exe' just won't start on Linux.
    Thanks!

  • My ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. I do?

please help me my ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. what I do?

    Hey saintbless,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines troubleshooting information for iPod nano. While it mostly refers to the 6th generation, most steps apply for your model as well:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    - Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    - If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    - If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    - If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Brand new iPod touch restarts itself all the time

Hello, my dad just came home from Japan, with a brand new iPod touch.
I managed to register it in iTunes, but when i updated the firmware i got an error message. I tried again and i think that i succeed. Then i started to sync music and the rest of the stuff. The syncing stopped after a minute, and when i tried to navigate on my iPod i realised that the touch screen didn't respond. So after several attempts, i made a hard reset.
But now, the iPod touch restarts itself. The Apple logo comes up, and then the screen turns off in a dramatical way, and then the Apple logo comes up again. If i hard reset my device again, the process continous.
I sometimes the iPod shows the "charge battery" screen, and then I can charge the battery. BUT after 5 minutes, the iPod touch starts restarting itself again. :S
Does anyone have a solution to this? Extremely strange.

I suspect you have a hardware problem. Probably a non-functioning battery (over or under) and causing a hardware reset. Bring it to an Apple Store for replacement.

  • Constantly Restarting Pearl

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can give me some help solving my problem. I have a Blackberry Pearl. Yesterday, it started to constantly restart itself. Some times it will run fine. Then it will shutoff, and just have a long slow pulsing of the red light. Then it will start to boot to the white screen and keep shutting off. Then eventually, it will start working again. Any ideas on what is going on?
Edit: Also, I think there is something funky going on with the trackball, when pressed, it acts like the 1 key was pressed. Any thoughts?

  • BT Cloud constantly restarting after being updated

MY BT cloud app is now constantly restarting since it was updated a few days ago.
The only way to stop this is to enter Task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and end the task. I can then restart it and it all come up as it should for a few minutes then its back to constantly stopping and restarting.
Ive had to stop it from starting now when PC starts as it gets in the way of the normal PC use.
Ive saved teh programs logs so if someone wnats to see those Ill happily send them over
Hope there some help for this.
    Solved!

    Hi SummermoonUK and SueL,
I am sorry to hear that are having problems with BT Cloud. If you take a look at BT Cloud says "Could not connect to the service. Check your network connection" that should help with the issue.
    Thanks

  • Everytime I try to use the video camera, my ipod automatically restarts???

Everytime I try to use the video camera, my ipod automatically restarts. I just need to bring the clicker to the Video section on the main menu for it to turn on and off again. I have to scroll over it really fast so it doesn't restart. My dad bought it a few months ago and I just opened it about a week ago. So far, I've synced it once, taken it out out without first ejecting it, and using it on a lamp iHome. Should restoring the ipod do the trick? Is this a common issue with the rest of you?

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • My ipod keeps restarting, what is wrong with it?

my ipod keeps restarting and deleting music, what is wrong with it?

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I'm trying to transfer my purchases but my ipod keeps restarting

When I transferred my purchases, it only transferred about 40 songs and then my ipod restarted itself. I need to figure out how to get my apps and songs on to my new computer. When i go to sync my apps, it says it will replace everything with the few apps that I have on my computer. My Ipod keeps restarting itself and will not let me transfer anything to my computer.

    Hello Lori,
Does your iPod appear in iTunes?  Do you have it set up to sync music from under the iPod's music tab?  Perhaps this support article can be of assistance.

  • My Ipad 2 does not turn on when not plugged to electricity. Even when plugged to electricity, it constantly restarts/switches itself off. what is the problem, please help??

My Ipad 2 does not turn on when not plugged to electricity. Even when plugged to electricity, it constantly restarts/switches itself off. what is the problem, please help??

i plugged it and pressed the home button for a few seconds. the connect to itunes screen appeared and the moment i disconnect the cable from the electric plug, it switches off. when i connect the cable to the PC, nothing happens, its as if nothing has been done.

  • I accidently pulled the cable out when syncing. Now my ipod automatically restarts after a few seconds. What do I do?

    Please help
I accidently pulled the cable out when syncing. Now my ipod automatically restarts. What do i do?

OK, in that case a restore should fix things:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
