IPod cord charges, but won't show in iTunes.

I'm having a really weird problem with my iPod. I'm not sure if the cord is broken or the data terminal on the iPod is. When I plug my iPod into my computer it doesn't charge or show up in iTunes, but if I push at the cord upwards it'll charge, but never show in iTunes. If I push at it and hold it up it'll show in iTunes and charge as well. This happened suddenly. I never dropped the iPod nor had the cord bent at a strange angle before this. Tell me what I should do?

  • My ipod will charge but does not show in itunes or windows

I tried to use my ipod as a disk to transfer my itunes library from my desktop to my notebook (both Dell), now my ipod charges, but does not show up in itunes or on either of my computers. I have used the advice of going to control panel and unchecking the box under power management but that didn't work, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLLLEEEEAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEE HELP ME?
I have windows xp on one and vista on the other, if that helps.

This worked for me, don't know if it will for you. Have ITunes open. While IPod is connected to computer press(at the same time) the menu and center buttons until your screen goes black and shows the apple icon then immediately press the forward button. Your IPod should show up. It won't hurt to try it, even if it doesn't work. Hope this is of some help to you.

    Hi kirsten,
If your iPod is "********", do we want to bother to fix the problem?
Assuming it isn't "********", have you tried the 5 R's?

  • IPod battery charged but won't play

Has anyone experienced this problem? My iPod shows as charged but as soon as it is placed in use, the battery seems to lose its charge immediately. If I place it on the charger, within seconds it shows the battery as charged again. Would this just be a bad battery or something else? Thanks.

At first glance, that appears to be a symptom of a bad battery.

  • Ipod touch charging but not being seen in itunes

ATM, I've restarted my ipod touch up to 5 times and reinstalled itunes at least 2 times completely. Still, I get the error:
"Itunes could not connect to the Ipod because an invalid response was received from the device."
My mac is updated (unless you count the spending safari update!) I also tried it with my co-workers iphone and I get a similar response. Itunes lags for a moment, and then the error pops up. Both devices acknowledge that they are connected to USB and start charging.
I plugged my ipod touch into a family member's mac and itunes recognizes it there. Please help me out?

Did you also reinstall Apple Mobile Device Service? See this article how to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747

  • Ipod now charging, but still not showing in windows

    Hi people,
I left a post a few days ago, when my computer would not even let the shuffle charge
    however,
now the shuffle is charging and playing music, but windows or itunes still wont recognize it, so i cant try the disk manager approach or the ipod updater approach either!
    someone help!
    thanks

If you are really using WindowsME it will never work in iTunes, you'll have to use 3rd party software such as Xplay or Winamp. As far as it appearing in Windows, be sure you are using a rear port on your computer and no other USB peripherals are conflicting with it. You migh also try using a short USB extension cable or port extender to get a better fit if your USB ports are spaced closely together.

  • Updated my osx and now iphone charges but won't show up

I've tried restarting my iphone, restarting the computer, itunes, reloading itunes. I have itunes 9.0.2 (or whatever the latest is) Mac OS X 10.5.8, an iPhone 3gs with 3.0.1- and have tried with two usb cords and ports both of which are part of my macbook pro.
The iPhone charges when plugged into the computer, but is not recognized in iPhoto or iTunes. It's not jailbroken, or hacked or anything.

ended up having to reinstall itunes via parallels and get my phone recognized there, and then suddenly it worked in the mac os.
Sounds like parallels could be interfering. Have you made sure you have the latest updates for parallels? You could always uninstall parallels to test if this is causing the problem.
