Ipod corrupted - cannot be restored

My iPod got stuck on "do not disconnect." It would not eject properly (I heard this can be a problem with Windows Vista but I update it frequently, so I should have already had the update that fixes this). It does not register on Itunes and is stuck. I tried to restore it, but it said "iPod corrupted - cannot be restored." What can you do to fix a "corrupted" iPod?

  • Ipod Touch cannot be restored

My Ipod touch "cannot be restored" and says "unknown error -1" when  I try to update the software on it. I've reset factory settings in hopes that it would make a difference. Nothing. Help....

Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Brand new nano 4gen, connected for first time and my iTunes says it may be corrupted and cannot be restored
I am using OS 10.3.9 and iTunes 7.2 maybe that is the problem, but I'd like some advice.

The 4th Generation Nano requires at least OS 10.4.10 and iTunes 8.

  • IPod Corrupted, cannot erase or restore

I have an iPod 3G, I think...it's not the very first ipod, but the one that came after with 4 buttons across the top and the scroll wheel. It's the 40Gb version. It had been working fine, no issues at all. I downloaded some new tunes and plugged it into the dock to sync and got the message that it was corrupted and needed to be restored. Figuring after restoring, all my songs would just be re-synched, I went ahead and restored it. After that, it kept freezing when it tried to resync. Then the iPod wouldn't even mount on the desktop. I tried resetting it and running the built in disk scan, to no avail. Then I tried erasing it in Disk Utility. After the erase process, it would mount and iTunes would open and ask me to give it a name and then it would try to sync. It would add some of the songs and then freeze and the whole problem would happen again -- not mounting, needing to restore or erase, etc. I tried manually adding songs to it and got some on, but everntually the problem always recurs. I tried zeroing out all data in the erase process, figuring if there were bad blocks it would fix that, but could never get the process to complete. I even opened the case to see if all cables were correctly connected, or if there was excessive dust in there, which might be causing a problem -- nothing. I'm sure the fix is probably just to buy a new one, but I'd like to see if anyone has any ideas first...thanks!

You should try anapod explorer, the ipod recovery tool worked wonders for me, although your problem is not exactly the same. Try it, it worked for me on a pod that claimed it had no music, but i knew it wasnt erased. i tried many, many programs and this is the one. only windoze though

  • My iPod Touch cannot be restored.

    I need help to restore my iPod Touch;
It faded away and the iTunes tells me, upon restoring it, that the server cannot be contacted...
I tried other computers and so, but with no result.
In fact, it is just blocked and when I connect it to the iTunes, the iTunes asks me to "restore" the device. When I try to do so the system just tells me that the server can not be contacted.
    Van anybody help me?
    Tks.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Ipod corrupted: won't restore

i have an 80gb 5th gen ipod. When i connect it to my PC, i get the message from itunes that my ipod is corrupted. when i do a restore, it seems to restore correctly. however I am never asked to rename my ipod after the restore process, the ipod simply reboots, some windows autoplay thing pops up, and itunes, once again, states that my ipod is corrupted. how do i get out of this restore loop so i can sync my ipod?
also: the ipod does work correctly whenever i disconnect it...except of course that theres no music. Interestingly, though, when I clickwheel my way to settings>about, it shows that about 40gb of my ipod's storage space is being used.

  • IPod touh cannot be restored, not eligable for requested build

A very common error, I know the ins and outs of it because I searched it up like crazy.
I have an iPod Touch 4G, 1 year old that is stuck at 4.2.1 firmware, and despite it is the exact same model as is being sold in the shop right now, it seems it is being treated like redundant tech left behind in the dust.
Anyhow, literally everyone ever who has had this issue, and they rectified it by modifying the Hosts folder like this following handy guide recomends
    http://www.karthikk.net/2011/06/how-to-solve-this-device-isnt-eligible-for-the-r equested-build-error-ios-5/
However, despite this seems to work for everyone, it hasn't worked for me. For a start, most guides *** to modify the following line from
    #74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
    to
    # 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com (only difference being a space)
But in mine, that never existed to begin with, and strangely enough, all my hosts are Adobe. So as another guide suggested, I added the line myself, both with and without the space, and followed the guides perfectly, but with no success.
Can someone explain to me what on earth is going wrong here?
All I want to do is restore my iPod and start a clean slate, then probably upgrade to iOS5.
Thanks in advance, though I do not expect any help to arrive.

    - See if this helps.  It is Microsoft's article for resetting the hosts file.

  • IPod classic cannot be restored

After pressing Menu and Enter for 8 sec, screen says "use ITunes to restore", but iTunes does not connect to the server for iPod-updates properly. I have the most recent ITunes-version as well as the actual iPod-software.
    What can I do?

Try repairing permissions on the disk using Disk Utility. If that fails, do a low level reformat instead using the instructions in this article.

  • "Itunes cannot read the contents of ipod. Go to the summary tab in Ipod preferences and click Restore to restore this ipod to factory settings." What is this?

I have been getting this error message since about the end of June when I updated to the latest version of iTunes. It's pretty annoying. Let me lay out how this has been happening for the past month, the best I can. I have a 32GB 4th gen iPod Touch
I load content up to my iPod. Music, Apps, Videos, pictures, etc.
My iPod works well for a little while, days sometimes a week is the longest I went without seeing this message.
I connect iPod back to my laptop through the standard pack in Apple USB connector.
I get the "Itunes cannot read the contents of ipod. Go to the summary tab in Ipod preferences and click Restore to restore this ipod to factory settings." message. When I go to the preferences tab, I click restore and iTunes gets stuck trying to restore my iPod. Then I have to uplug my iPod. And Shutdown/Restart my PC reconnect my iPod, and go through the restore process again.
I have been doing this for as I said, a month. It's getting pretty grueling to keep havomh putting cotent on my iPod after these restores.
    I've tried everything.
I've stopped autosync, it still happens.
I tried to reinstall iTunes(be it I didn't full uninstall before trying to install again and got the option to fix corrupted files and such
I've deleted all old back up, and it still happens
Today is the fist time I'm fully uninstalling iTunes, and then reinstalling to see if this works.
But do you guys have any otehr solutions for this? As I said, this didn't start happening until I installed the lastest version of iTunes 10.6.3

    - Have you tried another cable?
    - Another USB port?
    - When you have the problem, connect it to another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.
    - Try just restoring the iPod to factory settings/new iPod. Do not restore from backup. If you still have the problem with this and all computer that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod cannot be restored because of unknown problem (Error 1437)"

One day when I was listening my ipod when I pass the other song ipod screen freeze and I reset it and when its open all the songs and videos are gone Then I connect it to my laptop and I took the Error says "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted" When I try to restore it through itunes, I take an error message says "ipod cannot be restored because of unknown problem (Error 1437)" And the ipod is not recognised in itunes after this message..Then I searched the help files; I updated my itunes to the latest version, also restart my computer and change the usb port Im trying.. Also tried to update the serial control drivers but nothing's changed..One time I tried to do it in safe mode.. Nothings Changes... I everything I found in apple help files.. I see lots of unanswered questions in many months but Please HELP

Well it could be dead forever or you might just need some simple repairs. The problem i have seen in some is that when dropped the hard drive either comes loose (easy to fix) or gets killed (little more expensive).
There could be other problems but i have seen those problems more often than something drastic like the whole board dieing.

  • Ipod corrupted; Itunes 7 can't restore

Lo All, love the Ipod Mini, apart from the battery bugs, but I've had an enormous problem with my Ipod; it's corrupted. Also, to make things worse, my PC rarely picks the Ipod up as connected and, the one time it has, I've attempted to restore it, and Itunes comes up with an error message. Something like "Ipod; Ipod resource cannot be read" or something akin to that
Anyone got any suggestions? I'd love it if I could get this fixed without having to open it up; but if I have to I'll need a guide on it, as I don't have an Ipod replacement battery Kit
    Thanks!

    Is this any help?
