IPOD CORRUPTED (error 1415) HELP!

Whenever i connect my ipod to my pc and open my itunes, it says "corrupted" and ask me to reconnect or restore the ipod. But when i try to restore it, it says "Unknown error 1415". I tried many times to re-install/repair itunes and swtich to "manual" with the Terminate Service,.... but it still does not work.. SO WHAT DO I DO?????????????

Unfortunately, no, the Windows OS does not have the
capability of reading a disk (that includes an iPod)
that is in a Mac OS format (such as HFS+). An iPod
formatted for Windows can be used on a Windows PC or
a Mac. An iPod formatted for Mac can only be used
with a Mac. I do believe someone told me that there
is a software application available that lets a
Windows PC into a Mac formatted disk without forcing
you to reformat it, but I don't remember what it's
called, nor do I know if it will allow you to add
music to the iPod, rather than just importing off of
it. That's something that might be worth googling.
Also, since there's no "enable disk use" option, you
may want to try just plain forcing the iPod into disk
mode, and then seeing if you're able to format or
restore it.

I know that.
I can see the partition in Disk Administrator, but I can't alter or rewrite the partition table. Thus, I am stuck with a single 40GB partition that I can't format any other way than NTFS which the iPod will not support, unless I want to use it as an expensive external drive. I wasn't trying to use its HFS filesystem from Windows. I know that can't be natively done without a something like MacDrive or some other HFS filesystem driver.
I was assuming the restoration method would treat the iPod as being in an unknown state and reformat things appropriately. If this is not the case, how then do I use a 40GB iPod from Windows without third party software? Or can I?

whenever i connected my ipod to my pc and open my itunes, it says "corrupted" and ask me to restore the ipod. Then i tried to restore it but then it says "Unknown Error 1415"...So i reinstall/repair the itunes, restart my computer several times, reconnect the ipod to the computer.... btw, i have the newest version of ITUNE!!!BUT YET IT STILL DOESNT WORK!!!! SO WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having the same problem as well with my 80GB classic. The syncing will start and then freeze at various points during the process. I have received the error -53 message and others as well after this. I have restored my ipod at least 50 times. Once I get the ipod corrupted message, vista will give me a message stating there are disk errors on the ipod drive. I have scanned the drive twice (which takes hours) and just when it is about to be done i get a message "windows unable to complete the format". I tried disabling the USB 2.0 ports to where they "aren't 2.0" and that didn't work either.
I have tried winamp, floola and anapod as well. I get similar errors on those systems as well.
I thought it might be my OS or vista but I borrowed an older ipod mini 4GB and it synced over 500 songs just fine. I also tried an ipod shuffle 1GB and it synced fine as well. I brought my ipod over to a friend's house who has an older computer that runs XP and doesn't have USB 2.0 and it synced music fine.
I have spent hours searching the internet and trying various things. This is the only post I have found so far that people are having the exact same problems as I am. I am just wondering if it is my computer or ipod classic that is the problem.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Ipod corrupted - Error -53 when attempting to sync 160gb ipod classic

Every time I attach my ipod to my PC (Vista) I get a windows message that the drive is corrupted. I also get to various points of the syncing process in itunes and it fails to complete as I get an itunes error message number -53. I seem to have tried everything - re-formatting drive, restoring ipod, resetting ipod, deleting files that were being synced at the time of the syncing failure, but I can't seem to solve this problem and cannot find any info on error -53 anywhere on itunes support or even when searching on the web.
    Can anyone help please??
    Thanks.

  • IPod corruption error. Not a 1.2.2 error. Please help.

Today I connected my iPod to sinc and it gave me this message:
"iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You
may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
You may alsotry disconnected and reconnecting the iPod."
Now I've tried all five of the R's that Apple has recommended.
I'm hoping this has nothing to do with the 1.2.2 firmware issue because my update version shows as 1.2.1. Any help with this would be awesome.
Trying to find any help before I resort to iPod surgery.

Have you updated to Itunes 7.5? The same thing happened to me this morning on my computer that I had not updated. I later plugged in to my other computer that was updated to 7.5 and after one message to format my ipod to windows it began working fine. Although, my ipod is not running version 1.2.2. It seems to be causing alot of problems. I tried 1.2.2 and all my music disappeared and i had problems using itunes. Now I am using version 1.2.1. I restored my Ipod an upgraded to Itunes 7.5 and everythings been fine since.

  • All songs deleted on iPod & corruption error.

So, I plugged in my iPod like usual to charge it and all the songs were erased from my iPod but still in iTunes.
When plugged in I got this message on my computer as a taskbar pop-up iTunes: iTunes.exe - Corrupt File The file or directory\iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesPrefs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chcksk Utility.
And then when iTunes actually opens automatically it asks me to set-up my iPod...name and all that syncing stuff.
Then it says that 'The iPod 'Zillah' cannot be synced. An unknown error occured(-48).
    Help please and thanks.

  • Ipod corrupted, error 1429

I have a 20Gb ipod classic and a ibookg4 and woke up this morning to the dreaded folder ! sign and the support web address flashing on my screen.
I followed the directions on support, doing the 5 r's- and when trying to restore my ipod to the factory settings, got the message that my ipod could not be restored (error 1429). I trashed and then downloaded itunes again, restarting my computer, and was then able to restore my ipod-
the problem is, as soon as it says "Your Ipod has been restored", it flashed right back to "Your ipod is corrupted" and I had to do the whole process over again.
Nothing has helped. I have deleted and downloaded itunes, I've tried eveything I can think of and my ipod sounds ill... it keeps booting up and then quitting, booting up, then quitting...
so my question is- anything I haven;t thought of? And, if the only left is sending it away to get it fixed, does anyone know how much I'm looking at? It may just be easier to buy new...
    thanks much!

Strang thing is you would expect it has to do with the hardrive, but I have the exact same thing with my Ipod shuffle it won't synchronize on my PC as it needs to be restored but then get the known message code 1429. However if I connect to my laptop I'm able to restore the Ipod and can upload music from Itunes. Both my PC and Laptop have the same version of Itunes.
If I then connect again my Ipod to the PC i get the same error, so somehow it doesn't work on my PC.
    Does anyone have a solution

  • IPod Connection Error -- Please Help

Hey there -- I'd love it if a Mac genius could help me out with this. I recently gave my 4G iPod to my roommate when I got a 5G. I tried to connect it to his iBook and it stopped updating after about 70 songs. I reset the iPod's software to factory settings and it still happens.
He's got an 833MHz G3 iBook, and I'm connecting a 4G iPod that's never given me any problems.
iTunes tries to update for a while, then gives me a message that the copying failed and that the iPod cannot be read from or written to. But it did copy a few songs before failing, so it's not like nothing was copied.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

Does the iPod mount? Make sure it is in disk mode
from iTunes prefs. Open disk utility and you can try
erasing and reformatting if your iPod is visible as
    one of the HDs.
After you reformat with Mac OS Extended (journalled).
Try running the updater and restore again.
Is there a good charge on the iPod?
I just did that and I thought it worked, but then I got the same error.
I used Disk Utility to reformat into Mac OS Extended (journalled) and then I used the iPod Updater to restore to factory settings. When I plugged in my iPod, it transferred about 300 songs, then stopped with that same error message.
Yes, the iPod is fully charged.
Wow, what else can I try at this point?

Edit MyProject01 on day one, at end of the day "save as" MyProject02
Edit MyProject02 on day two,  at end of the day "save as" MyProject03
Start editing on day three, IF you at some time discover that MyProject03 is corrupt, and if autosave projects are also corrupt, open MyProject02 and IMMEDIATELY "save as" MyProject03a and continue editing so MyProject02 is still there as a reserve
