IPod Corrupted only on this Laptop help

Hey,
I got this strange issue with my iPod since yesterday and I've been browsing the web for solutions but so far nothing worked yet.
When i connect my ipod to my laptop itunes shows it as corrupted, also the name i gave it on purchase is gone it just says "ipod" in itunes now.
Also ... on "my computer" the ipod is not shown as an actual ipod but as a removable disc (G:) ...
As iTunes suggested i tried restoring the iPod to defaults with iTunes, I did this about 7 times now and it still shows like writen above...
Next I decided to reset the iPod manually by holding the well-known buttons... still no results ...
Then I went browsing the web for results and one of these was changing the Drive name ... To be very sure no other drive would get close to the new allocation I gave it X, now the iPod is recognized by my laptop as "Removable Disc (X:)" but still no results in iTunes, still corrupted.
Next up was a solution saying I should format the ipod through windows, I tried the normal and the quick format but both fail to complete.
And to make everything even more confusing, when I plugged the iPod into a different laptop everything was fine!
So with full of hope I connected the iPod back to this laptop again but no... nothing... still the same problems....
Can annyone tell me what to do ?

I can't survive the journey to school and work without my iPod if you get what I mean...

I'm having the exact same problem as well. My iPod wont work with my laptop but is fine with my computer at home. It says it needs to be restored, which I do, but then it just says it needs to be restored again, and again, and again. I see a lot of people with this problem but no one with answers. If anyone finds an answer I hope they post it here.

I got a Mac and started buying music on it, and My PC has all of my whole Itunes library which is like 1000+. IPod corrupts ALOT!! Please help!

I have asked all my friends about their ipods and they always said that their ipods corrupts once or twice but my ipod corupts wayy too much. It corrupts lets say about 1 out of 3 tries. Also when it doesnt corrupt the memory on the summary page is always the same..I have 30 songs that takes 100 mb but it says that i have 27 GB. It's like it wont change. Please respond sum1 please

A restore usually cures a corrputed iPod.
However, if this happens frequently, you may want to get it serviced.

I use Windows XP Pro, have the latest updates for iTunes and supposedly the iPod updated last night. I am getting the following messages: During a "Restore" session I get:
The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1418)
Followed by:
iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.
Which I have done NUMEROUS times. Don't have this kind stress with the creative products. I love the mp3 player but LOVE iTunes more so broke down and bought a 2 gig, 2nd generation iPod and I've gotten absolutely nowhere. I'm about ready to box it back up and send it back to Amazon.com, what a stressful mess this is.
Come on Apple, fix your software for crips sake because I seriously doubt it's the hardware!!
Suggestions welcome. I've already read through as many threads as I think might be of help like the 5 "R"s and so forth, nothing is working!

Update... reconnected, reformatted after reading more ideas and still can't get past the errors.
Now I have it connected to the computer, no back lighting (kinda lame), which shows a "do not disconnect" message, there's a little icon up in the upper left screen spinning around.
I do not have iTunes running at this point so I'm not sure what it's doing. In a loop of some kind perhaps?? Not sure.
I've also checked in with Amazon.com to make sure I can return this product... I can... thank god.....
Still very open to help if someone has any other ideas. I see quite a few views but no responses.

New 60G IPOD will only hold 4000 songs HELP

I just got my husband a new 60G IPod Photo and am trying to load songs for him. After only 4,000 songs, it says the IPOD is full. What am I doing wrong? I am trying to transfer about 13,000 songs - and on my computer harddrive, they only use a total of 52G - and I am getting really frustrated and confused. Thanks for any help.

If in iTunes it says the songs total up to 52GB then try restoring your iPod...

Broken ipod with only loud music. please help!

my friend and i had my ipod touch plugged into an auxiliary device hooked to the car radio..she accidentally sat on the cord and it broke off into the earphone slot. my dad easily got it out with a pair of small pliers, and i though hey problem solved!...not so much. i plug my earphones in, it only plays music aloud, not through them. if anyone knows or has any suggestions as to what i should do, please let me know! thanks!

If the plug is fully inserted then I wold say that the headphone jack in your iPod is damaged. You can get it repaired for $59 for 3G and earlier and $99 for 4G from this place:

I had my own laptop with my own iTunes account on it. However the laptop is now broken. My partner has his laptop but his already got his own iTunes account. How can I sync my iPod and iPhone to this laptop but use my iTunes?

Can we both use the same iTunes but get all our music ect into one? Or can we share our separate accounts between devices? We both have iPod touch, iPhone 4 and an iPad each. At the moment I can't seem to get to my iTunes as it come up that it will delete everything in my phone/iPod but u have downloaded things to the devices directly and don't want to lose that?

Hello Miss,
To set up a new Windows user account, if it is Windows 7, go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > Add or Remove User Accounts > Create New Account.
The old laptop is probably on Windows XP, so the menus may look a little different.
Once they each have their own Windows user account, they can each work with their own iTunes library, and all content will be independently managed. That should avoid snarls and demerits in the coming year.

SLOOOOOOW loading everything; only on this laptop. And HOT to the touch.

Just bought this MacBook Pro. EVERY page on the internet takes maybe 20-30 seconds to load. Sometimes I get a message saying the server is not responding. HOWEVER, when I immediately switch to my old Fujitsu laptop with the same internet connection, everything goes fast as normal again.
I can't keep this machine if it's going to be this slow. What's the problem?
Also, the lower left side where my hand rests is REALLY HOT. Is this normal

If you're complaining about page stalls and starved
browser sessions, then it's a network problem.
Safari can't go any faster than the data being fed
to it. Albiet, it should work better.
If you're using the Airport, then try to diagnose why
it isn't working correctly. The Airport in the MBP
is probably the biggest disappointment I've had with
mine. The range is easily 20% less than my old
iBook. It takes a lot more signal to make reliable
connections and I've had to move my access point to a
more central location in the house.
You can quickly see if you're getting latency and
retries on the wireless connection (or wired for that
matter) by opening up a terminal session and pinging
your local router. If there's a problem, you'll see
it there. The reply-time on a ping like that should
be <1 ms.</div>
I did not try your last paragraph. HOWEVER, I am now connected to same router that I have used wireless, via ethernet cable, for my DSL connection. This MBP sings along on this site. It did take a long time to pubish to my .mac site with iWeb, but it completed publishing; I've had "busy" messages using airport. How would I know to try use ethernet instead of wireless airport?
I will say that my experience receiving email is better than my G4/667 PWB; I find I receive a signal when I did not before - near my business neighbor where I do not have internet, receiving someone else's signal.
Had this a month and never connected via ethernet, as other places I go have very strong signals. BUT the publishing and browseing forums and known sites was absolutely terrible, as if I wanted to use my PWB.
I'll still try to go the 75 miles to Apple Store to see if there is a fix for the slowness.

The computer freezes? There may be something wrong with the USB port. If the laptop has more than one port, does this happen on any port? If you are disconnecting the shuffle cable from the computer, does it make any difference if you disconnect the shuffle at the other end of the cable first, then disconnect the cable from computer? Or if you currently disconnect the shuffle from cable first, try it the other way.
You may be able to work around this problem, if you get a self-powered USB hub. Something like this one

There are many choices, but be sure to get one that has its own power supply. You can leave the shuffle cable connected to the hub, and connect the shuffle to the hub, instead of directly to the computer. This may provide a "buffer" for whatever is causing your laptop to shut off when the shuffle is disconnected. Since the hub has its own power supply, it will not rely on the computer for power to re-charge the battery.

There is no Info tab in Mavericks

When I look at my Ipod on Itunes on my laptop it is showing that I have a large amount of storage space taken up with Apps. (more than my music). In fact I only have the Apps which came with the ipod touch! How do I get my storage back?

I have an ipod touch 64GB. I have 3,146 songs, 3 videos, 106 photos and 1 app. The capacity of my ipod is 58 GB (I guess the remainder is the OS), It says I have 7.6GB remaining. When I look at my ipod on Itunes on my laptop the bar at the bottom shows a huge amount of storage space is taken up by Apps. I don't have any apps apart from the ones which came with the ipod touch which I cannot erase and wouldnt really want to. I am baffled why it says so much storage has been taken up by Apps! Please help me!!!

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
