Ipod Corrupted what do I do

Hey all found out my problem with my ipod it said its corrupted when i finally got my computer to see it. but it will not format it says there is a error can not format. Does anyone know how I can get it to format or where I need to send it to get it fixed thanks

Once you got it connected and/or recognized by your computer, did you try a restore in iTunes, or were you trying to format it in disk mode? Many attempts to format the iPod like a removable drive can cause problems, expecially the difference between NTFS and FAT32.

  • Ipod corrupt, what does it mean?

Today I changed my computer, I installed Itunes again and got the newest version. But when I plug mi Ipod it says it's corrupt. Sometimes nothing happens at all. In my previous computer I never had a problem.
Why is this happening? Thank you very much.

Well..I am kind of in the same boat. I just received the Black 80GB Video iPod. Now mind you, I have had an iPod before, so I am familiar with it all. But this one decided to corrupt itself within the 2 days I have had it. I am not sure what caused it, whether it be the latest version of iTunes (which I have read has some bugs) or something I loaded onto it (music, movies, tv shows, etc.). Who knows? What I do know is that it is constantly in the Do Not Disconnect screen with the round "NO" symbol above it. I have tried to reset it with and without connecting it to the computer. If it is not connected, it tells me in 4 different languages to connect it to the computer. And when I do it flashes DO NOT DISCONNECT and charges the battery. After awhile it freezes on that screen. I have tried to restore it.....on two different computers, different USB ports and I keep getting the same message. It will attempt to restore with the progess bar going back and forth...and depending where the IPOD is in it's frozen or unfrozen state, the computer eventually gives me the message The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error ocurred (1418). What the heck do I do. This all started when my iPod would not turn off. So I decided to hook it up to my computer to refresh it or something. But then I found out it is CORRUPT. How it got that way, I do not know. Any suggestions anyone? All I want to do is restore the ** thing so I can reload all my stuff back onto it. I am in Denver at the moment by the way...trying to get back to LA...so the suggestion of going to the Apple store will not fly at the moment. No pun intended. I am looking for a good ol' home remedy. There has to be something I can do. Anyone? Please.

This has been an all day uphill battle by the way. Borderline Nuts at the moment.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
    - Then try on another computer
    - Try when connected to another network

  • Itunes telling me ipod is corrupt - what can I do?  Only have light on nothing else

My daughter's ipod won't turn on, she thought it was a problem with battery but I have charged it and light comes on but nothing else.  Connected it to iTunes only to be told Ipod is corrupted - what can I do?  Went to support centre but Monday before I can get a response.

Have you tried rebooting for the Mac and iPod to see if that helps? To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It wouldn't hurt to also try plugging the iPod into another USB port and use a different USB sync cable.

Normally when this error appears, your only course of action is to connect the device to your iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it to factory settings.

  • HT1386 directory (harddrive) into my IPOD Touch 4.   I get an unknown reason -50 error for their names during syncing attempts.  1 album is greyed names on my IPOD. What can I do?

I bought some mp3 music files from Amazon that will not sync from the Itunes directory onto my IPOD Touch 4.  What can I do to get them to sync?  I am getting a -50 unknown reason error message when the system tries certain songs.  I also bought a whole album from Amazon in mp3s that downloaded to my Itunes directory, yet only shows up as greyed out on my IPOD.  What can I do?  Most of the rest of my songs have synced with the IPOD.  I called Amazon's help line but they say I have to call Apple's help line, and it is just past the end of my year's service.  I wondered if it was due to the new Amazon cloud software, but they claim it isn't since the songs play on my hard drive.  I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks for the information.  I actually fixed my problem after many hours of experimentation in two different ways.
I found that when I filled in more information in the catalog about songs on mixture albums, I had to always check the COMPILATION box to have those songs sync correctly. Apple didn't say anything about that. Without the checkmark on each song in the compilation album, the song would cause a 50 error.
I also found that if I moved the problem songs (that caused the error 50 message) out of my Itunes Library and reimported them, that stopped them from causing the error 50.  So I deleted them and reimported them into the library.  I found that some of the songs in the Itunes catalog had showed weird locations with addresses like C:\\\documents and settings...instead of the real pathway that might have been C:\documents and settings..  Some pathway addresses had become corrupted for some reason in the information that my Itunes library stored.  So when I reimported them into the ITunes library from another location, their pathways were fixed and they no longer caused the 50 error while syncing.  I painstakingly identified each song that was failing and deleted each specific song to clear up the problems.
That said, I do appreciate this board and the fact that others are willing to take time to help other users.  Much obliged.

  • IPOD CORRUPTED (error 1415) when connecting to pc HELP!

whenever i connected my ipod to my pc and open my itunes, it says "corrupted" and ask me to restore the ipod. Then i tried to restore it but then it says "Unknown Error 1415"...So i reinstall/repair the itunes, restart my computer several times, reconnect the ipod to the computer.... btw, i have the newest version of ITUNE!!!BUT YET IT STILL DOESNT WORK!!!! SO WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having the same problem as well with my 80GB classic. The syncing will start and then freeze at various points during the process. I have received the error -53 message and others as well after this. I have restored my ipod at least 50 times. Once I get the ipod corrupted message, vista will give me a message stating there are disk errors on the ipod drive. I have scanned the drive twice (which takes hours) and just when it is about to be done i get a message "windows unable to complete the format". I tried disabling the USB 2.0 ports to where they "aren't 2.0" and that didn't work either.
I have tried winamp, floola and anapod as well. I get similar errors on those systems as well.
I thought it might be my OS or vista but I borrowed an older ipod mini 4GB and it synced over 500 songs just fine. I also tried an ipod shuffle 1GB and it synced fine as well. I brought my ipod over to a friend's house who has an older computer that runs XP and doesn't have USB 2.0 and it synced music fine.
I have spent hours searching the internet and trying various things. This is the only post I have found so far that people are having the exact same problems as I am. I am just wondering if it is my computer or ipod classic that is the problem.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Ipod corrupted - cannot be restored

My iPod got stuck on "do not disconnect." It would not eject properly (I heard this can be a problem with Windows Vista but I update it frequently, so I should have already had the update that fixes this). It does not register on Itunes and is stuck. I tried to restore it, but it said "iPod corrupted - cannot be restored." What can you do to fix a "corrupted" iPod?

  • 5th Gen Ipod/Itunes 7.2 Problems (Freezing, Ipod corruption, slow upload..)

Let's catalogue our problems with the 5th generation IPod and ITunes 7.2, shall we? My IPod has worked fine for the last 11 months, I downloaded the new ITunes and now things have started going wrong.
I plugged my IPod into my computer (like I always do) and it said didn't recognize my IPod as "MY Ipod." It then said the IPod was corrupted and to restore it. I restored it, then it froze. I restored it again and then started uploading my 12,000 songs. Halfway through, it froze.
So I restored again. Started uploading again. I ejected the IPod, let it rest for a bit, then connected it again. Then it froze. Plugged it back in. IPod corrupted. Restore. Re-connect. Re-freeze. Restore again. Notice a pattern?
Now I've been patient after repeating this cycle a number of times. At this point, 11,000 of my songs have uploaded and I just have about a thousand more... then the upload started going slow. Rather than being a couple of seconds per song, it's now about a minute per song. It'll probably freeze soon, corrupt the IPod, and then I'll have to restore again.
Anyone having the same problem? What have you done? I find it ridiculous that my 400 dollar, 11 month old IPod was treated impeccably and then suddenly stops working once Apple released a new ITunes platform.

I know what you're talking about...
I do regret updating to 7.0.2
After the upgarde it also says that my iPod is corrupt and needs to be restored. However, if I do connect it to my other computer with the 7.0.1 version of iTunes, it works perfectly. And of course the iPod itself also works great.
So, I don't wanna follow the instructions at you did as I guess that it wouldn't help a bit. As usual, all upgades of firmware or iTunes seems to get something other wrong.
Apple! Fix this now. It's really a pest that every update destroys something else. Good ****, you're even worse than Microsoft!

  • Won't sync songs, iPod corrupted, HELP

my computer won't sync songs to my iPod and it says its corrupted. what do i do?

A restore will put your iPod back to factory settings including deleting all of the content. This is usually the only way to repair a corrupted iPod, see the link below for how to do a restore.

I'm not sure I understand what your issue is.
    Have you been through these?
    The Five Rs.
A restore usually cures a corrputed iPod.
However, if this happens frequently, you may want to get it serviced.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
    1. Quit itunes
    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
    3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
    4. press ENTER
    5. Reboot your machine
    6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync
    7. Good luck
