IPod corruption/can't open iPod drive

Hi,
I've been having a few problems with my iPod, iTunes and my laptop in general. A couple of days ago my iPod (which was working fine beforehand) starting telling me that something had gone wrong and I needed to check Apple support. I assumed this was some kind of corruption and sure enough, when I plugged it in iTunes told me it was corrupted and needed to be restored to factory settings, which I did. This isn't my main problem, but it's kinda connected.
Now here's the annoying part: the library on my iPod is synced with an old computer that's since gone, meaning syncing it with iTunes would give me a new library. The trouble is, each time I plug in my (blank) working iPod it tells me again that it's corrupted and needs to be restored.
I put this down to some silly messing around in the iPod's files (viewed in My Computer etc.) when trying to previously get the library from my iPod into iTunes; some website told me that deleting a file in the iPod's files would allow me import stuff but it eventually didn't work, so I left it be. To compound all of this, when I now try and enter the iPod's files within My Computer it stops responding and basically refuses me access.
My questions:
-how can I access/view the iPod's files?
-is my iPod still "corrupted" even though iTunes apparently solved it?
-is there an important file now missing from the iPod?
-can I put said file back onto the iPod to allow me to put music onto it again?
Just for the record, I have an up-to-date version of iTunes (AFAIK I downloaded the latest version a few days ago), I'm running Windows Vista and it's an old, black and white early generation iPod - from memory it's a fourth generation classic.
Thanks.

    Hello
After update to Mavericks I can't open disc drive from keyboard on my Mac Pro.
I found the only way to do this is via disk tools , there I can eject my disc drive - seems now to be the only way - should not be like this.
    Any idea , Please??

I used to use 2 keyboard keys - It now works with only 1.
So it works now , but different.
    Thank you.

  • PDF corrupted - can't open in acrobat on

    I have Pages '09 - 4.0.5 running on OSX 10.6.7
Suddenly today it won't export any PDFs that acrobat can read. It can open in Preview OK but not acrobat. It is only Pages causing this problem. Other applications such as numbers or Mail can create PDFs no problem.
I have an identical set up of OSX and Pages on another machine with no problem.
Any idea how I can fix this?
    Thanks!

See the other posts on this.
A bug has been introduced in OSX 10.6.7 affecting Postscript and PostScript OTF fonts.
    TrueType fonts are still OK.

  • Can't open disk drive

Hi. I put a DVD in the disk drive for my Power Mac G5. I have tried to eject the disk using various methods, but nothing has worked. Here is what I have tried thus far:
    1. Press "Eject" button
    2. Open Disk Utility (to eject the file) -- but the dvd is not seen by disk utility
    3. Restart, hold down mouse.
    4. Use firmware: Restart, hold down command-option-o-f when startup sound heard, type "eject cd".
    5. Hold down metal door, look for hole below drive, push paper clip in the hole. I suppose it is possible that I found the wrong hole.
Nothing has worked. When any of these steps are taken, I hear a mechanical sound, as if the computer is trying to open the door, but it doesn't actually open.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Hi, and a Warm Welcome to the Power Mac G5 Forum!
There is a bit more info on possible emergency eject hole positions at Figure 4 here
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88215
It takes a strong, straightened paper clip in the emergency eject hole - it is a mechanical release only, so you will have to slide the tray out by hand. If the drive is dodgy anyway, it may be easier if you remove the drive
    http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/pdf/g5/073-0807.pdf
As to the problem - a jammed tray on a PC optical drive here was fixed by levering the toothed rack on the tray back into the groove where it could then contact the cog wheel that drives it. But you need to remove the optical drive on a G5 to try anything like that.
Please post again if you have any questions. Good Luck.

  • Can't open the driver written by LabView5 with LabView 8.6

    http://www.oinst-software.com/OIRI/docs/LV5drv/lv5drv.htm
I would like to use these drivers for oxford instruments with LabView 8.6. (I have the latest version of LabView, only.)  But these drivers are written by LabView 5. So, I cannot open the drivers with the latest version. When opening, the alert occurs "VI version is too early to convert the current LabView version." In this case, is it no way to open these drivers. Does anyone help to convert these drivers for use with the latest version ?

    Dear Dennis Knutson,
    Thank you for your response.
I need to use immediately the attached two drivers at least.
    Magnet Power Supply - IPS/PS
    Level Meter - ILM
Is it posible to convert them for ver.8.6 ?

  • Can not open ipod in itunes and a little lock is showed on the bottom

how do i unlock my ipod in itunes because i can't open it and can't view the files on the ipod and only on itunes...how do i unlock my ipod???? please help

The lock icon indicates that iTunes is set to synchronize to your iPod automatically, which means that you do not manage the tracks directly on your iPod, you make changes in iTunes itself. If you want to manage your iPod directly, change the iPod Options in iTunes to manually manage your iPod. To do this, connect your iPod and click the iPod Options button at the bottom of iTunes (or right-click on the iPod icon if you have iTunes 7). Click the Music button and select "Manually manage songs and playlists." You can then delete tracks directly from your iPod (they will not be correspondingly deleted from iTunes). You'll have to drag songs from your library or playlist to iPod in the Source list to add new tracks.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.
    Regards.

  • How can I open a back up from an ipod touch 4g from my Mac

Well the problem is that my ipod touch 4g stop working and fix it was $440 dolars so I didn't pay it, all my information was lost (what worries me more are the photos from the camera roll). And I need to know if and how can I open a back up of an ipod in my Macbook Pro computer.

I know of no way of getting it from the backup then.
However, borrow someone's iPod, iPhone or iPad with an iOS version at least equal to yours and then restore that device from your backup. Get the information off the iPod and then restore the device from their backup

  • Can you open word doc. In pages? (Opening a doc. From the web) in the iPad or iPod tuch?

Can you open word doc. In pages? (Opening a doc. From the web) in the iPad or iPod tuch?

    NH,
This may seem a fine point, but iWork apps don't actually Open Office apps. They Import them. The reason I make this distinction for you is that when you view the result of the import, you may see some variations from what was in the Office document because of an imperfect translation, and when you make edits, you are editing an iWork document, not the original Office document.

  • I enable voice over settings on my Ipod Touch 5th gen. I can't disable it anymore. I off my ipod and now i can't open it. It doesn't accept my password. I can't open it anymore.

Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see:
